We got into some cars and started driving to a hospital to one of the nearest warehouses.
We finally arrive while my head throbs in pain.
It has been hurting ever since I got hit on the head but it's been hurting more while it keeps bleeding.
I am really cold, like I'm still shivering even though the heat in the car is at its highest.
Everyone in the car keeps glancing at me worriedly.
We walk inside the place, me still with Roman's jacket wrapped tightly around me, hoping it would give some warmth while it also covers my lingerie that I still haven't been able to change out off.
We immediately go through the warehouse to the hospital part before a nurse takes me with her, Elijah coming too.
I am told to change into some spandex shorts and sports bra so she can examine me better.
I comply and change in the clothes in a different room before I walk back in.
The dokter starts on my head wound, she cleans it first and then looks at it thoroughly.
"I'll need to stitch this up-" she starts, "-I'm going to get my supplies ready and inject you some numbing and pain killers" she says while getting needles out of a box.
Soooo....I'm still not good with needles. Like at all.
I had to get some vaccin a year ago and I still get panic attacks.
It just keeps reminding me of when I used to get drugged and I can't help it.
So I say, "no"
"What?"
"Don't bring out the needles, I can do it without" I tell her.
Elijah looks just sad since he knows why I'm saying this.
He brings his hand in mine, holding on.
"Are you sure? It'll hurt a lot" she says worriedly.
"Yes, it doesn't matter" I tell her.
She looks at Elijah, he motions her to do what I say.
"Okay" she says and gets everything ready.
A few minutes later, the doctor starts.
She gets the needle close to my head but hesitates, "just do it" I command her.
She trembles a little, "are you really sure, this is on your head" she says.
"Yes, I'm okay it won't hurt as much as you think. If you're really so unsure about it, ask my dad" I tell her.
"Lijah please go get dad so he tells the doctor that she can stitch without numbing anything."
He nods his head and stands up and leaves the room but not before giving me a kiss on the head.
Soon my dad and brothers with Roman come inside the big room.
"You can do it" they all say.
The woman nods her head and grabs the needle again while all the others spread around the room and sit down.
I lie down comfortably while dad and Roman grab my hands.
I feel the needle puncture through the skin while I feel blood immediately drip out more and rolls down on my forehead.
I grit my teeth when I feel the needle go further in my head, turning to come out from the other side.
Roman squeezes my hand back while stroking it when I squeezed his.
A whimper escapes my lips when I feel the needle move harshly while the tread goes under my skin.
God, I forgot how this felt.
Over the years I haven't experienced as much pain as I used to, so now feeling it again....is weird.
I bite through all the pain, whimpering every now and then.
Blood does keep streaming from the top of my head down to my forehead.
When we're done, she clean the blood up before putting a bandage on my head.
She starts to press on my ribs and stomach to make sure I'm not internally bleeding and stuff. After that she does some more tests.
Soon she starts to tell all the results to the family and me.
"Okay, so your ribs are bruised badly but luckily not broken. You are not internally bleeding and just have some bruises which will heal with time just like your ribs. You do have a concussion so in the next few days you will be having some headaches or a "pressure" feeling in your head.
- Nausea or vomiting.
-Balance problems or dizziness, or double or blurry vision.
- Bothered by light or noise.
- Feeling sluggish, hazy, foggy, or groggy.
- Confusion, or concentration or memory problems.
Just not "feeling right," or "feeling down" confusion and saying things that don't make sense
- being slow to answer questions
- slurred speech
- not remembering what happened
Now to help the concussion to get better you can
relax at home. You can do calm activities, such as talking to family and friends, reading, drawing, or playing a quiet game. If symptoms interfere with an activity, take a break from it. You can try it again after a few minutes or longer, or you can try a less strenuous version of the activity.
Avoid or cut down on screen time. Video games, texting, watching TV, and using social media are likely to cause symptoms or make them worse.
Don't drive.
Avoid all sports and any activities (such as roughhousing with friends, or riding a bike or skateboard) that could lead to another head injury.
Get plenty of sleep (at least 8–10 hours in a 24-hour period).
Keep regular sleep and wake times.
No screen time or listening to loud music before bed.
Avoid caffeine.
Nap during the day, as needed.
Usually within a few days to a week after the concussion you can start by doing some light activity. Slowly try more activities, such as going for a walk or watching TV. Again if symptoms interfere with an activity, take a break from it. You can try it again after a few minutes or longer, or you can try a less strenuous version of the activity.
After a few days, you should feel well enough to return to school. You may need to start with a shorter day or a lighter workload.
Keep avoiding all sports and any activities that could lead to another head injury.
Keep getting plenty of sleep. If you don't feel tired during the day, you don't need to nap.
If you still need medicine for headaches, call me or another doctor.
After a week you can do Moderate Activity
If your symptoms are nearly gone, you can go back to most activities, including regular schedules for school and work.
Keep avoiding all sports and any activities that could lead to another head injury.
Once more, if symptoms interfere with an activity, take a break from it. You can try it again after a few minutes or longer, or you can try a less strenuous version of the activity
Within less then a month you can have Regular Activity
If you no longer have any concussion symptoms, you can go back to all other activities, except sports, that you used to do.You can't play sports if you still need to have one of these things and have to do this belde going back:
- have had a physical exam
- are back in school
- have no symptoms
- aren't taking any medicines for concussion symptoms
- are back to their baseline results on physical and cognitive testing.
Okay?"
The others look at each other with a lot of confused and a little bit of shock at her.
"I've had a million concussions in my life and I've never done one of those things" Xander mutters under his breath but everyone heard.
"Yeah, so I'm still going to drive and I will go to school and train since I don't have time for resting" I tell the others.
"You have to rest, otherwise it'll get worse" the doctor says.
"I'll sleep" I tell her.
"But-" the doctor says.
"Val you will rest and not drive for at least a week" my dad suddenly says.
I look at him baffled, "dad, I can't. I have things I need to do, I can't just drop all that" I state.
"You will rest and not go to school for a week. I let you go on this mission because I trust you, but now that you got hurt you will take a break. Take a week off, you can work from home if you really want to but nothing more, I'm sorry but I don't want anything bad happening to you even more after what happened this weekend" he says while holding my hand tight.
"Fine" I say a little annoyed but understand his point of view. My whole family was clearly against this mission and getting kidnapped again, but I insisted so the least I can do is now listen to their wishes of me taking a break.
He gives me a small smile while Roman takes me in his arms, hugging me.
I melt in them as he gives me a kiss on the head but makes sure not to touch my head wound.
After I few more minutes we finally head home where I fall asleep in Roman's arms.
