I watched as Dick examined the wound.
"I'm fine, it's fine" I said.
"It doesn't look fine" he snapped.
"Doesn't hurt as bad anymore" I said.
He put his hands in his pockets looking to my eyes.
"You ready to tell me?" I asked.
He sighed walking closer. I put my right hand to his cheek as he grabbed my wrist.
"Just tell me, Dick" I whispered. "Please."
We both turned around as Gar practically ran to the rooms.
"You should go" he said. "He likes you more."
I nodded walking after him. I found him in Rachel's room as she examined something on his hand.
"Jasons, gone" Gar said.
"What happened to Jason?" I asked.
Gar turned around frowning.
"What did you do" I said.
I grabbed his arm walking out of the room.
"I'll explain!" He said.
Walking down the hall I motioned for Dick to follow us. Dick sat at the chair looking at the screens. I nudged Gar as he began to talk.
"We figured out that Dr. Light is in the train tunnels" he said. "Jason wanted to prove to you- well more Dick, that he wasn't a reject."
"You called him a reject!" I said to Dick.
"No" he said clenching his jaw.
"We were gonna come right back" Gar said. "And then, Jason wanted to split up. And then I heard him scream and I ran but they were already gone."
"Why did you go out there in the first place? On your own, with no weapons, no backup" Dick said.
"I'm sorry" Gar said.
I could see the fear in his eyes as he spoke.
"I just need details" Dick said. "Specifics. Just write down everything you remember."
He handed Gar a notepad not taking his eyes away from the screen.
"I'm searching for his tracker now" he said.
"Subject offline" the computer said.
"Maybe I can find him" I said. "I haven't done it in a while, but I should be able to."
"Doesn't it take a lot of your energy?" He asked.
I smiled nodding. Dick pushed Gar out of the room as I closed my eyes. I held my hands out clearing my mind of all things. I began looking through the minds of the citizens of California as Donna stormed in.
"Why did they go after Dr. Light by themselves in the first place?" She asked.
"I was looking for him when you interrupted" I said.
"I don't know" Dick said. "He's been complaining about being left out lately."
"Oh don't blame yourself" Hank said walking in with Dawn. "Shit stirrer did this on his own."
I turned to the screen to see a map of the tunnels.
"There must be twenty or thirty miles of tunnel down there" Dawn said.
"Maybe more" Donna said.
"We can't cover all this ground in one night" Hank said.
I closed my eyes trying once more to focus on Jason's mind. I jumped as Dick put his hand on my arm.
"Let's go" he said.
I put on a jacket as we walked through the tunnels. I looked around with the phone in my hand.
"Keep your heads on a swivel guys, Dr. Light could still be down here" Dick said.
I continued walking further when Donna spoke.
"Dick, there's no sign of Jason's tracker on the third floor" Donna said.
"Liv, you find anything?" Dick asked.
"Nope" I said.
"Guys, I got something" he said. "Sending over the coordinates now."
I looked at the phone following the coordinates until I found Dick staring at the wall. I flashed my light all over as the others came.
"This is fucked" Hank said.
"He was attacked here" Dick said. "Then dragged. Tracks disappear a hundred yards down."
"Poor kid" I whispered.
"He did it to himself" Hank said.
"Shut up, Hank!" I said. "He's still a kid!"
Hank turned his attention to Dick.
"Back it up, the kid is bait to you know?" He asked. "Is that right? That's rich, Dick."
"You were bagging on him a minute ago, and now he's your best friend?" Dick asked.
"Not about me pal" he said. "This is all because of you and your big dumb fuckin idea to start up the Titans again!"
"I'm out" Dawn said.
"Yep, me too" Donna added.
"What where you goin?" Hank asked.
"To get Jason. And for the record, this is all of our faults" Dawn said turning around. "Every single one of us. So get over it and move on."
The tunnels went silent as Dick looked at the wall again.
"What is it?" I asked.
We watched as he snatched a camera from the corner.
"Oh fuck" I said. "They've been watching us the whole fucking time!"
I looked around blasting every camera I could see.
"I got something" Dick said.
I looked at the tracker.
"He's not moving" I said.
Dick ran up the stairs as we followed him. There was a body hanging but as Dick got closer it was clear the body wasn't Jason's.
"It's fucking Dr. Light" he said.
"What the fuck" Hank said.
Dick let his head go as Jason's tracker fell to the ground.
"Is that Jason's tracker?" Dawn asked.
"Someone cut it out of him" I said.
"Well, if Dr. Light's dead. Where the fuck is Jason?" Hank asked.
"Must be working with a partner" Donna said.
The cellphone in Dr. Lights pocket began ringing. Dick went to grab it before answering it.
"I see you found my gift" the voice said.
"It's Deathstroke" Dick said. "Where's Jason!"
"Oh. You mean your little sidekick" he said.
"Who you calling a little side kick asshole!" Jason said in the background.
"Attaboy" Hank said.
I closed my eyes as punching and Jason's cries were heard.
"You fucking bastard! Come try that shit with me!" Hank yelled.
"Just tell us what you want" Dick said.
"As I was saying if you want him back, hand over Rose" he said.
I could feel Jason's slow breathes in my mind as Dick talked. I zoned out feeling Jason's pain, closing my eyes.
"It's gonna be alright kid" I said looking at his subconscious. "I promise."
I shook my head at Dick as we headed back to the tower. We all stood in the elevator in silence as the doors opened. I looked at my hands looking up to see Kory.
"Kory?" Dick said.
"What happened to Jason?" She asked.
I looked at Gar quickly looking away.
"Let's talk in the training room" he said.
As we all stood in the training room I looked around.
"So, who's gonna start?" I asked.
"You should've thrown that girl out the minute you knew she was Deathstroke's daughter" Hank said.
"Wait a minute, pirate girl is this guys daughter?" Kory asked.
"Yeah and he wants her back" Hank said.
"Which we can't do" Dick said.
"Why not!" Hank said. "It's not a crazy idea!"
"You're not serious?" Dawn said.
"I'm serious about ending this once and for all with Deathstroke" he said. "It might not be pretty but neither is watching Jason get killed by that lunatic."
I put my hands on my head walking around.
"Why don't we neutralize this guy?" Kory asked.
"Not easy. We barely survived his last attack" Donna said.
"Jason is hurt, alone and scared. He doesn't deserve this!" I said.
"Are you really suggesting that?" Dawn asked.
"We don't know what he wants with his daughter" I said. "It's none of our business but one of our own is in the hands of this psycho who killed one of us before."
"Bottom line is, he's one of us and she's not" Hank said. "So if handing her over means it saves his life, I don't know about you, but I can sleep a little better at night knowing I did the right thing!"
"You good with this, Grayson?" Kory asked. "Dick!"
"Just give me a second" he said.
"He killed Garth, do you really wanna see another dead Titan?" I asked.
"She's just a kid" Dawn said.
"And so is Jason!" I said.
"Deathstroke's kid" Donna said. "Let's be honest. The further away from us she gets, the safer she's gonna be."
"If we leave her out there, Deathstroke will hunt her down" Dawn said. "We've gone down this path before and we all know how that ended. We're not using Deathstroke's kid to get to him again."
I looked up as Dawn quickly looked away from my eyes.
"Ah fuck it" Hank said. "I'll take her there myself. Good luck trying to stop me."
I turned around as a figure ran down the hall.
"What the hell was that?" Kory asked.
Gar appeared leaning against the wall.
"Uh Rose heard you guys talking about giving her up" he said. "She's trying to leave."
"Shit" Dick said running to his phone.
I looked at Donna before walking down the hall. I could feel her footsteps behind me. I turned a round staring at her dark brown eyes.
"Are you gonna tell me what the fuck happened last time!" I said.
"We-" she started.
I heard a thud running down the hall to see Rachel standing near Rose's body.
"Rachel!" Dick said.
The girl slowly turned around with tears in her eyes as she ran away. Kory quickly ran after her as I examined Rose's body.
