Emily Young pulled away from Sam Uley’s kiss with a sad smile, she wasn’t blind, she had noticed the short-brunette vampire’s energy the exact moment she walked through the door. This wasn’t the Addison Cullen she had heard about it for months, this was the broken-down version… Sadness was eating her alive from the inside...
“Um, Addison… I don’t want to overstep any boundaries but are you doing okay?” Emily placed her chin in the palm of her hand as her tan elbow rested on the countertop reminding Addison Cullen of her mother Esme, maybe that’s why it was so easy to be around Emily because she was the Quileute Tribe’s mother just like Esme was the Olympic Coven’s mother.
“I- um is it really that obvious” Addison awkwardly chuckled as she pulled the sleeves of her- (actually it was Jasper’s sweater and everyone in the house knew it, they could literally smell him on her) down around her hands as Emily gave her a warm motherly smile, “kinda- I’m sorry I mean you just seem kinda lonely and upset, are you okay?”
“I- I’m sorry this was a mistake- I shouldn’t have bothered you guys with- with my business- Oh God” Addison stumbled around the house trying to collect her thoughts but before she could even think about dashing for the front door, Emily was grabbing her arm and pulling her into a hug… Addison’s body tensed, she was only a stranger to Emily but here she was hugging her like they were close friends…
“Shh Shh, I know we just met Addison but you came here for some peace of mind, and I’m gonna help with that”...

Addison stared up at the woman with wide venom-filled eyes as she pulled away from the hug but quickly wrapped her arm around the vampire’s shoulder, leading her into the kitchen, “now I know that technically we’re strangers but you just have this aura that screams pain, and trust me I know it’s hard to talk about your problems with strangers, but I found that comes easier when your concentration is on something else”...
“Now I don’t know how or where she stored them but Leah has eaten all of my muffins and I have a pack of hungry boys coming over for dinner and I think I’m gonna need some help. And Sam and Leah aren’t the best cooks” Emily teasingly whispered, getting a watery chuckle from Addison in return.
“You really want my help?” Addison asked as Emily pulled her closer, her warmth warming Addison’s colder than normal skin while Sam and Leah dragged Fred outside to help with ‘werewolf business’, giving the two women alone time…
“I’ve been told by Seth and Leah that you're quite a cook, so wanna help me?”

Music was blasting from an old stereo. Addison was always used to quiet symphonies whenever she baked with her mother but things were different with Emily, different genres played, old rock, metal, pop, and now they were on a country music kick…
Anything and pretty much everything from Tim Mcgraw, Carrie Underwood, Randy Travis, Johnny Cash, Luke Bryan, and as of right now they were on their Miranda Lambert kick. Emily had just gotten done singing Gunpowder and Lead, and she knew every-single-line. Her voice was loud yet oddly melodic, plus she had Addison giggling which only edged her on even more, singing ever louder.
“Gunpowder and- Gunpowder and Lead. Gunpowder and Leah, yeah, yeah. Hey!” The song came to end as Emily giggled trying to catch her breath from all the movement as Addison chuckled adding her cup of blueberries to the muffin mix as the song changed, “oh I love this song!” she cheered, making Emily laugh extremely glad to see the brunette smiling instead of in almost tears like before…
Addison was slightly swaying to the guitar beginning chords as she poured the mixture into the muffin tin sprinkling the crumb topping that consisted of sugar, flour, and cinnamon.

It started out as little hums before it became full-blown singing…“Hey white liar, truth comes out a little at a time, and it spreads just like a fire slips off of your tongue like turpentine and I don’t know why white liar” Addison sung making Emily holler with an overenthusiastic clap that made the vampire toss her head back with laughter, brown hair slapping against her back.
“You better be careful what you do, I wouldn’t wanna be in your shoes, if they ever found you out” Emily began to sing the next line making Addison smile, neither of them were perfectly on key but they weren’t tone deaf either, they were just enjoying the music and singing together along with dancing around the small space. “You better be careful what you say, it never really added up anyway, I got friends in this town”.
“Hey White Liar!”
“You said you went out to a bar and walked some lady to her car but your face has more to tell, cause my cousin saw you on the street with a redhead named Bernice, turns out you don’t lie too well” Addison’s and Emily’s voices mixed with their laughter as they spun each other around in circles accidentally spilling flour on their pants and the floor but they didn’t care...
“Hey White Liar!”

Emily turned the volume on the stereo with a breathy pant, choking on laughter and if Addison’s blood could still rush to her cheeks she would have been as red as a tomato, and if she could still breathe she would have been panting from the exertion, chest rising and falling much like Emily’s was.
“This has been the most fun I've had in a long time Em, thank you for this”...
“Aww right back at ya hun” Emily smiled lovingly as she gently patted Addison’s shoulder, “those muffins look like a professional did them, the boys are going to be spoiled. Do you bake often?” Emily was managing to slowly chip away at Addison’s protective shell, she was getting to the real Addison, the one Leah just couldn’t stop talking about…
“Well time kinda goes by extremely slow when you’re a vampire, you can’t sleep to waste time so you need hobbies something to help pass the time, like my sister Rosalie she fixes cars with her husband Emmett, Carlisle has his job, Esme is an architect, my husba- Jasper likes to read but he also works on his motorcycles… Alice has her fashion, Edward well now he has Mae and Bella, and I do Ballet and bake to pass the time”...
“Uh-huh a jack of all trades huh” Emily winked as she sprinkled a pinch of salt into the homemade mashed potatoes she was making, “hey Em, not to bring down the mood but why are you being so nice to me? I mean I’m extremely grateful and today has been amazing but I just don’t understand, why do you wanna get to know me, I’m well kinda boring, I’m just me”...
“Well hun the answer is simple, you’re not boring, you’ve lived up to the stories. I’ve heard from Sam how helpful you are to the pack even though they're supposed to be your sworn enemies, I’ve heard from Jake how you took care of Bella the year your family left like she was your own family, and I’ve also heard how you take care of Edward’s little girl like she’s your own daughter. And I’ve heard from Leah how you’ve helped her get over Sam… When I got with Sam- I- it’s a long story”...
Addison frantically shook her head, “no-no please, I’d like to hear it- if you don’t mind”...

“Leah and I are second cousins but as children, we were as close as sisters… But in High-School that all changed, as I’m sure you know Sam dated Leah and they were very fond of each other, and meanwhile I casually dated a few boys but nothing serious, well one was, but he was way too self-absorbed, we broke up”...
Addison nodded, holding on to Emily’s every single word as she sliced up the carrots. She had heard Leah’s side of the story but now she was getting Emily’s…
“Sam had imprinted on me when I was down visiting my cousins and as you know this conflict between me and Leah, and it ruined our friendship, I don’t know if Leah told you or if she even remembers but I didn’t accept his offer right away out of respect for her… Even after I found out about his newfound wolf form and new abilities, I still brushed him off trying to convince him to go back to Leah".
“This went on for a while, Sam continued to visit me daily, and then one day I ordered him to go back to Leah and when he refused I got angry and I called him a liar, I told him he was just like his father Joshua Uley, and of course he got upset and lost control of himself, he phased and gave me this”... Emily pointed her scars making Addison’s eyes soften… That’s why Sam got bothered if you stared at her scars…

“I was in the hospital for a supposed bear attack and the next afternoon I told Jared that I wanted to see Sam, and when Sam saw my face covered with those bandages he begged me to tell him to kill himself, he- he couldn’t commit suicide without knowing for certain that was what I wanted but that’s not what I wanted, I didn’t want him dead”...
Emily paused, staring blankly at the stove-top and Addison stepped forward placing a hand on her shoulder, “you don’t have to continue, you’ve said enough” but Emily only shook her head, “no dear, I’m okay… I had asked him to visit because I knew how horrified he would feel and how unintentional his action had been, and I didn’t want him to blame himself for what was truly an accident”...
“I had already forgiven him, and as I laid there I began to realize that the one person I really wanted there with me was Sam, I felt so lonely and incomplete without him”...
Addison understood that feeling more than anyone, that lonely feeling, that feeling like she was missing an important puzzle piece, a feeling that only Jasper Hale could fix…

“Sam never forgave himself even now, but he pushes those feelings aside as much as possible to make me happy and I don’t fight my feelings for him anymore- I can’t… Even though Leah is- or was furious with us”...
“Our relationship progressed easily as we found it effortless to be close both emotionally and physically”...
Addison was beginning to realize why she had bonded with Emily so easily... It was because they were the same, both of them had fallen and fallen hard for their soulmate for-going the consequences. The only difference between them was, Addison was losing her soulmate...
“Leah was heartbroken, she was bitter and it caused her to take her pain and anger out on the pack because they could hear her thoughts, they knew she was still in love with Sam, that first love always hurts the hardest… But then you showed up and slowly that bitterness began to leave. She's still untrusting, and that’s my fault, but because of you, my cousin is happier… Because of you, she’s found her true mate”...

A/n~ Emily strikes me as a very sweet, very caring woman like she really doesn't give a damn if your a vampire, werewolf, fairy, or freakin bigfoot she's gonna treat you like a close friend, and cook for you. And I freakin love her for that!
