We have rugby practice after school.
Me, Jack and Dane. Sigh.
I dress up and walk onto the field as I hear Dane talking to Mom. "Coach, please. It won't take long," he begs. Mom sees me and smiles at me, causing Dane to turn around. His eyes widen and he looks away. I sigh, roll my eyes and start running laps.
He's been avoiding eye contact with me all week. After that one night, he didn't came back. But I also didn't have nightmares, so maybe he did? I don't know, but it's really becoming a pain in the ass. He hasn't talked to me, always sits alone at a table and when I ask him to join, he shakes his head and looks at the wall.
And he cries all the time. I mean, for real. Every time I see him, he just broke down or crying. One time, he was crying in the cafetaria, and everyone was staring at him. He noticed and just shrugged, gazing at the wall again and sobbing. The boys laughed at it, but I didn't think it was funny. Noah and Jack neither, though.
I stop running and pant a little. I drink from my water bottle, I'm so thirsty. But I spit it back out when I hear the intro of 'True love' from P!nk through the boxes on the field. Everyone stops in their movements and look at the stand, so do I.
Mom comes to stand next to me and grins at me. "Wait, what is this?" I ask, completely confused. I look up and see Dane sitting on the stand with a microphone in his hand.
"Hi, Willow."
Everyone gasps and turns to look at me. I stiffen and stare at him. Noah walks up to me. "There's your apology speech," he whispers. With wide eyes, I watch Dane.
"Eh... If you didn't, like, notice, that was our song," he says and I giggle. Of course I did! He's so nervous, it's really cute.He fumbles at his sleeve.
"I wanted to say I'm so, so sorry. I can't even begin to explain how sorry I am, but I guess I have to." He walks down, to the field. Now he's standing across me, but with fifty feet between us.
"I can't believe I said all those things to you. You've been with one guy, and I call you a slut? Hell, I'm the slut of us two. And when I said I've never loved you? It was the most awful lie I've ever said. I love you, Willow, and I always will."
I gasp and tears sting in my eyes. He does love me?
He looks at me, unsure if he has to say something else. He doesn't. I run to him and jump up against him, so hard he falls back. He's laying on his back on the field now, and me on top of him.
His eyes show happiness, but he doesn't say or do anything. He's still waiting for me. So, I kiss him roughly and he wraps his arms around me.
Everyone starts clapping and I laugh, hugging him. "Hi," I whisper. He sighs happily and runs his hand through my hair. "Hey," he whispers back. I smile.
"I love you too, Dane," I say and kiss him all over his face. He smiles and laughs and hugs me even more. "Oh, I missed you so much," he tells me.
I nod. "I know, baby. Come here," I cup his face and he stands up, with me in his arms. Mom smiles at me, and I give her a wide smile back.
Dane sits down and I clinge to him. No way in hell am I ever letting this man go again! He holds me tightly tucked to his chest and I hear him sniff my hear. "Oh God, you still smell the same," he whispers and gives me a kiss on my hair.
Noah sits down next to us and smiles at me, then glares at Dane. Dane gulps and looks down, at my face. "Don't ever hurt my bestie again!" Noah warns and points to Dane. I laugh and Dane relaxes a bit. "Nah uh."
Noah nods and Jack jumps almost on him. "Here you are, babe," he smiles and kisses Noah. Noah chuckles. Dane looks confused, but smiles at them.
I realize he doesn't know anything that happened after he left at our table, after Noah and Jack kissed. Maybe I should tell him later...
Noah takes my hand and leads me to the other side of the table. I see Dane panicking, looking for me, then relaxing as he finds me. He keeps watching me, even though Jack talks to him.
"Forgave him yet?" Noah asks. I nod and smile. "Good, because he was really annoying," Noah sighs. I frown. "Huh? I thought he always sat alone."
Noah chuckles. "Oh, he did. But my phone blew up from his messages, asking how you were doing and asking me to take care of you," he tells me and I gasp. "Really?" He nods.
Ahw.
I smile and walk back to Dane. His face lights up and he reaches for me. I sit down and he snuggles into my chest. He sighs happily and looks up at me.
I frown. I trace his jawline and his eyes flickers closed, even though I see he's trying to keep them open. The bags under his eyes are huge, and he looks.. bad. Really bad.
I stop tracing his jawline, but his eyes don't open anymore. Is he asleep? I bring my face a little closer to him, hearing him softly snore. Was he so tired that the moment he relaxes, he fell asleep? Oh, poor baby. I shouldn't have made it such a hard time for him.
A few girls pass by, and stop when they see Dane. They starts laughing and pointing. One of them approaches to me, and I narrow my eyes. "You really want him? Such a cry baby," she giggles. I feel I'm going to snap...
I glare at her. "Yes. So? None of your business. It was because of me," I snap. She rolls her eyes at me. "Well, if he cried that much about you, you shouldn't get back together. You only hurt him," she says with a smug expression.
Just as I want to yell at her, Dane groans and wakes up. "Willow, just leave her," he whispers and nestles his head more into my chest. "Hmm, I like this spot," he smiles sleepily.
He makes me smile and forget about that annoying girl. "Well, practice is over, so why don't we go home?" I ask and he nods, but doesn't move. I get up, and he frowns, reaching for me.
I tap his nose. "Home," I say and he sighs. "Okay then. Drive with me?" he asks and I nod. I normally drive with him, but this week I drove with Noah and Jack. I think the three of them like it more when I drive with Dane again.
Noah and Jack are together now. After his date, Noah asked Jack and he said yes. So, we're with two couples now at home.
"Shall I drive?" I ask and he shrugs. I know he's tired, and I don't want to die. So I get in on the driver's seat and he in the passenger seat. He intertwines our hands and slumps a little in his seat.
I see his eyes close. He's so tired...
I drive home and by the time I get there, he's asleep again. I get out and walk to his side. I softly wake him up and he frowns. "Hm?"
"We're home," I whisper and he nods, suddenly awake. We walk in, hand in hand, and see Mom is already home. She smirks at us and Dane softly smiles, but he's so tired it looks fake.
Dad winks at me and I giggle. We sit down on the couch and he places himself in the same spot as earlier again. I play with his hair and he's fast asleep. He's cute when he sleeps...
I decide I'll read a bit, because I'm not really tired yet. I pick up The Deal and start reading. But after two pages Dane shifts and is laying completely on top of me. I roll my eyes, but it's actually really cute. He even needs me in his sleep...
Maybe I can sleep too a bit too. I put my back back and close my eyes intertwining our hands. "Willow? You have a bed, you know," Dad chuckles and he and Mom sit down on the other couch.
I open one eye and look at them. "I know, it's just that Dane is asleep, and I've woken him up already two times just now. It's not quite fun for him then," I explain. He snickers.
"Oh, if you believe he's asleep, okay then," he laughs and gives Mom a kiss. Huh? Dane is asleep, what is he saying? But when I look down at Dane's face,, he's smirking at me.
My jaw drops and I smack his head softly. "Oh! You jerk," I giggle and he chuckles. "Bed is alright," he smiles and I take his hand in mine. We walk upstairs and he lies down on my bed, then me on top of him. Like before.
"I was asleep on the field and in the car, though," he tells me and I roll my eyes. "Better. Now I can sleep," I giggle and he nods. But he stands up and walks to the door.
Panic griefs my heart and I blink back tears. Don't panic, he's just leaving! But I've been missing him too much for too long.
I starts shivering, missing the warmth of his body. He walks back into the room, and he softly closes the door. When he turns, his eyes land on me and they widen.
He quickly walks towards me, lays down and pulls me on his chest. I calm down and hug him tightly. He hushes me softly and strikes with his lips over mine. I feel his breath on my skin.
"Are you okay, love?"
