chapter twenty six;
the one where they found out
AFTER DINNER and the Triwizard Tournament information, the students went back to their dorm. Students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang stayed at different house dorms. As they walked up the stairs, Aven saw Peeves and quickly stepped away. The sound of students shrieking behind her was the only thing she could hear. She looked back to see Peeves laughing loudly at the students who were all drenched from the water.
Aven shook her head before waving her hands and hot air burst through the students, drying their robes. She mentally cursed at herself after she revealed her secret.
"Miss Cross, did you just cast the hot air charm?" McGonagall asked, her face showing that she's shocked
"Well, i guess so Professor" Aven nervously replied
"But we haven't even learn about that yet!" Marlene exclaimed
"And did you just do it without a wand?" Remus questioned the girl
"Maybe" Aven shrugged
"And she did it without saying it" Sirius widened his eyes
"Yes, I didn't know you can cast a spell non-verbally and wand-less. You do know what that only a few powerful wizards and witches can do such thing?" McGonagall smiled still shocked
"Well she is the brightest witch of her age after all Minerva" Dumbledore stepped into the conversation
"That is indeed true Albus. We haven't seen anyone like you for years"
"Thankyou Professors" Aven stood there fiddling with her fingers not knowing what to do since every eye are on her
"Very well, off to bed you go" Dumbledore demanded and Aven sighed in relief
"Jeez Ave what can't you do" Said Sofia
"Stuff" Aven replied
"You are officially my idol" Lily pointed at Aven
"Thanks Lils" Aven smiled
The group of friends asked Aven a bunch of questions whiche she answered. Sirius couldn't keep the proud look off his face. He thought that what he felt towards Aven is just a stupid small crush but in reality it's not. All he needs to know is if Aven feels the same way. He hoped she does. Hope.

Aven could not sleep. Her mind kept wondering if she should put her name in the goblet.
'Maybe i could win and maybe my family will be proud of me' Aven thought
'That sounds so cringe' She scrunched her nose in disgust
She knew the risks of course but as cliche as it sounds, life itself has risks. She knew that her friends would support her. She looked at the clock to see that it's still midnight. She cursed at herself and walked down to the common room. As she walked down, she saw Sirius sitting on the couch.
"Padfoot?" Aven rubbed her eyes
"Star?" Sirius asked and there he saw Aven wearing a white pajamas
"Why are you up?" Aven asked sitting next to Sirius
"Could ask you the same thing" Sirius chukled
"Couldn't sleep" Aven replied with a smile
"You?" Aven asked, plopping down on the sofa
"Couldn't sleep too and Prongs was snoring" Sirius replied and Aven chuckled at the last part
The two of them sat in silence enjoying each other's company. Aven stared at the huge window, Sirius took it as a chance to stare at her. He watched as she furrowed her eyebrows slightly, indicating that she has something on her mind.
"You're thinking about attending the Triwizard Tournament aren't you?" Sirius asked breaking the silence
"What? No" Aven scoffed and Sirius gave her a look
"Fine i am" Aven confessed
"You know that i'll support you, but please be careful" Sirius said with a worried face
"I know, but we don't even know if i'm going to be chosen" Aven laid her head on Sirius's shoulder
"Yeah but knowing you, you'll probably get chosen" Sirius sighed wrapping his arm around Aven's shoulder
"So please promise me that if you get chosen you'll be careful" Sirius sat up raising Aven's head from his shoulder
"Promise me V, i can't lose you" Sirius'
voice trembled and Aven quickly pulled him into a hug
"You're not going to lose me Padfoot" Aven softly said rubbing his back
"You don't know that"
"But i do Pads, i promise you you're not going to lose me. I'll be very careful" Aven promised before Sirius pulled away
"Okay" Sirius nodded his face still showing worry
"Come here" Aven laughed softly
Sirius laid his head on Aven's lap as she brushed her finger through his hair. The two of stayed there talking, laughing,until they fell asleep

"Hey Ave why do you look so nervous?" Remus questioned the girl
"I'm not nervous" Aven replied
"You're going to put your name in the goblet aren't you?" Peter asked knowingly
This made the group to look at her.
"Hey, how ya'll doing" Aven waved nervously
"You're entering the Triwizard Tournament?" Alice asked
"Yes" Aven replied letting a sigh
"YEAH" Marlene hugged the girl showing support
"Thanks Marls" Aven laughed
"If you get chosen be careful" Remus said worriedly
"I will Remmy" Aven smiled patting Remus's back
"Don't die" James warned her
"I won't Jay"
"I can hear you winning already" Peter blurted out
"Yeah me too" Lily chuckled
"Just imagine Aven Cross the Triwizard champion" Sofia imagined
"That sounds amazing" Dorcas laughed
"It really does" Alice agreed
"Yeah well don't get your hopes too high we don't even know if i'll be chosen" Aven shrugged
"We know you will" Sirius finally talked after just listening to his friends talk
