Jungkook placed his phone on his study table after finishing his chat. He opened his notebook to start his homework.
As he finished the first assignment, he was about to begin another when suddenly his door banged open. A wild-looking Jimin barged in, his eyes dancing with frenzy. "What happened?" Jungkook asked, confused.
"Taehyung..." Jimin said slowly.
"What about him?" Jungkook inquired.
"He's behaving weird," Jimin replied.
"What do you mean by weird?" Jungkook asked, still confused.
"Come with me." Before Jungkook could say anything, Jimin pulled him and led him to his and Taehyung's shared room.
When Jimin and Jungkook entered the room, Taehyung was sitting on his bed quietly, staring into nothingness, his eyes filled with fury. He appeared somewhat eerie. Jungkook glanced at Jimin, who stood behind him looking frightened, then back at Taehyung. Slowly, he approached him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Hyung, what are you doing?" Jungkook asked, but Taehyung didn't respond. Instead, he slowly turned his head toward Jungkook and glared at him.
"Hyung...you look so scary...Do you think I'm going to fall for that? Ha ha! Sorry, but you look so funny...ha...ha," Jungkook chuckled nervously. Jimin looked at Jungkook with confusion.
"Oh, come on, hyung. You can scare Jimin hyung, but not me," Jungkook said, patting Taehyung's shoulder. Taehyung turned his head away from them, his gaze fixed on something else.
"I'm telling you, something is wrong with him," Jimin said, gripping Jungkook's hand tightly.
"Nothing is wrong with him, hyung. He's just trying to scare us, but it's not going to work on me," Jungkook said with a playful smirk.
Suddenly, Taehyung began to laugh like a psycho. Jimin, startled, stepped backwards while pulling Jungkook with him.
"H-Hyung!!? What's going on?" Jungkook asked, confused by Jimin's behavior. "He...he is possessed!!" Jimin said. "What?!" Jungkook exclaimed, his expression filled with shock. "You must be kidding me!"
"No, he was mumbling something about killing someone or..." Jimin tried to explain, but Jungkook looked at him with a disbelieving stare.
In the meantime, Taehyung lifted his head and began running towards them, screaming. Jimin pushed Jungkook, who was in front of him, causing him to fall to the ground. Taehyung pushed Jimin against the wall and started squeezing his neck. Jungkook's eyes widened as he witnessed the scene before him. He ran to Taehyung and attempted to release Jimin from his grip.
"Hyung, what are you doing?" Jungkook shouted at Taehyung. "Hyung, please let go of Jimin! You'll kill him! Please, let him go, please, hyung!" Jungkook started to panic. Jimin began to cough and struggle to catch his breath.
"Hyung, please, let him go!" Jungkook shouted at the top of his lungs. Taehyung yanked his hand away forcefully, causing Jungkook to back away from them.
Jimin slowly lost his breath, his eyes beginning to blink. Taehyung released Jimin, who fell to the ground with a thud. Jungkook ran to Jimin, knelt down beside him, and started to shake him. "Hyung, wake up, please, hyung!!" But Jimin didn't respond. Jungkook placed his two fingers under Jimin's nose and gasped. Jimin was not breathing. Jungkook looked at Taehyung with watery eyes. "You killed him! You killed my Hyung!!" Jungkook shouted. Taehyung didn't say anything but picked up the knife from the nightstand near the fruit basket, glaring at it and then at his stomach with a strange look.
"No...." Jungkook screamed, but before he could stop him, Taehyung stabbed himself. Jungkook's eyes widened. He slowly crawled to approach Taehyung, who was lying on the floor in a pool of his own blood.
"Tae...hyung," Jungkook touched him with trembling hands and checked his breath, but he was not breathing.
His heart started to race fast. He slowly stood up and backed away but fell again, his chest feeling painful. He cried as he looked around the room, his hyungs were "dead". He couldn't understand what was going on around him. He stood up again and tried to run to get his phone. But his head felt dizzy as the air got stuck in his throat. His vision started to blur, and he couldn't see anything properly.
"I... can't... breathe."
He fell to the ground, hitting his head hard on the floor as he lost consciousness.
"JUNGKOOK!!" Taehyung and Jimin yelled with worried voices as they suddenly stood up and ran towards Jungkook. They kneeled down in front of him. Jimin held Jungkook in his arms and lifted his head onto his lap. "Kooki... hey... Kooki, please wake up," Taehyung said while gently slapping Jungkook's cheeks, but he didn't respond. "He... he is bleeding," Jimin said, tears starting to make their way from his eyes. "What?!" Taehyung exclaimed, now on the verge of tears. "Call 119, Tae... call them... hurry and change your shirt..." Jimin said, panicking. Taehyung nodded and went to call an ambulance.
Within minutes, paramedics were knocking on the door. Taehyung ran to open it and led them to Jungkook and Jimin.
"Please save him... please, he is our brother," Taehyung screamed at the paramedics through his sobs.
"It looks like a minor concussion, but it shouldn't cause him to go unconscious, so we'll take him to the hospital," one of the paramedics said as they prepared Jungkook to go to the hospital. Taehyung and Jimin looked at each other, guilt and shame filling up their hearts.
The paramedics loaded Jungkook into the ambulance. "We... we are coming with you!" his two elder brothers said in unison. They didn't wait for an answer and hopped themselves into the back of the ambulance with everyone. They sat there and stared at Jungkook with tears in their eyes. Taehyung held Jungkook's hand and said, "Kooki... wake up please... Hyungs are really sorry for doing this to you... I... we are sorry. Please wake up, please."
Flashback:
"Are you sure this will work?" Jimin asked.
"Yes, why not?" Taehyung replied as he checked his fake knife.
"Because Jungkook doesn't get afraid of ghosts or possessed things or anything," Jimin said skeptically.
"Oh, come on, Jimin-ah. You haven't seen my acting skills. He will definitely fall for it. You just bring him here," Taehyung said confidently, with a smirk on his face.
"Alright, let's see. Take your position. I am calling him," Jimin instructed.
"Okay, and make sure to act properly, okay?" Taehyung said as he sat on the bed.
"Yeah! I know, don't worry," Jimin reassured, winking at Taehyung as he walked out of the room.
End of flashback
Jimin hugged Taehyung, who was also crying. When they arrived at the hospital, the paramedics rushed Jungkook inside.
Taehyung and Jimin took a seat in the waiting room, consumed by worry for their younger brother, whom they had hurt, and feeling the weight of responsibility for what had happened.
"We need to call the hyungs," Jimin said with a shaky voice, tears streaming down his face, as he held his phone tightly.
"Hello, hy...hyung," Jimin spoke into the phone. "Oh yes, Jimin... wait, what happened? Why does your voice sound like that? Is everything okay?" Jin's voice came through the phone, filled with concern and panic. "Hyung (sob) Jun...Jungkook is in the hos...(sob) hospital," Jimin said, his voice breaking with emotion. "What!?!" Jin exclaimed. "We...we are coming." After Jimin hung up the call, he ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.
"Is he going to be okay?" Taehyung asked Jimin, his voice trembling with fear. Jimin hugged him tightly. "He will be okay, he will be okay," he said softly, while rubbing Taehyung's back, trying to reassure both him and himself.
About twenty minutes later, they saw their brothers rushing in. Taehyung and Jimin got up and ran to them, and their elder brothers enveloped them in tight hugs.
"What happened to Kookie? How did this happen?" Hoseok asked after breaking the hug. The two youngest members started crying harder.
"We are the reason why Jungkookie is here," Jimin said, tears streaming down his face. "What are you talking about?" Yoongi asked, his voice a mix of confusion and suspicion. "We played a possessed prank on him, tried to scare him... but we had no idea he would be so scared that..." Taehyung choked on his sob, unable to continue. "That?" Jin prompted, raising his eyebrows. "That he would lose consciousness," Jimin said, his heart heavy with guilt. "And he also hit his head and is bleeding," Taehyung added. Their elder brothers froze upon hearing what their younger brothers had done to their youngest sibling. "I promise, hyung, it was supposed to be just a prank. We didn't expect... we didn't expect this to happen," Jimin said between sobs.
"You did what?" Yoongi's voice boomed with anger, causing Taehyung and Jimin to flinch. "Were you both out of your minds? How could you prank him like that? You know perfectly well that he's sensitive about us. He loves us, his hyungs, more than himself, and especially you both. How could you?" Yoongi's voice cracked with emotion as he scolded them. "Hyung, please calm down. I know they did wrong, but it's not the time to scold them," Hoseok interjected, looking at his two crying younger brothers. "Yes, Yoongi, Hobi is right. It's not the right time, and they're clearly feeling guilty as it is. Let's not dwell on it for now," Namjoon added, trying to diffuse the tension.
"Did the doctor say something?" Namjoon asked, changing the subject. "Not yet," Jimin replied. All of them sighed and nodded, realizing that now wasn't the time for blame or recriminations
About one hour later:
"Are you Kim Jungkook's guardians?" The doctor inquired.
Six brothers stood up. "Yes, we are his elder brothers. How is he now? Can we meet him?" Jin asked anxiously.
"Yes, he's doing alright now, but he's in trauma. Did something tragic happen to him?" The doctor questioned further. Jimin and Taehyung looked down guiltily. "Um... he got seriously frightened by a prank gone wrong," Namjoon explained with a sigh.
"I see. But be cautious with scary pranks. They can have a severe impact on someone's mental health. Fortunately, Mr. Kim isn't affected too severely, but he's still in trauma. So, you'll need to be gentle with him when talking, and if necessary, we may need to arrange for him to see a psychiatrist," the doctor advised before leading them to Jungkook's room.
Jungkook was sitting on the hospital bed, staring into the abyss, his face devoid of any emotion. He was truly traumatized.
"Jungkook!" Jin rushed to Jungkook and hugged him tightly. But Jungkook remained silent, continuing to stare into nothingness. Jin broke the hug and gently cupped Jungkook's cheeks. "Kooki, talk to me," he urged softly. Jungkook's condition was heartbreaking, especially for Jimin and Taehyung, who were overwhelmed with guilt.
Slowly, Jungkook turned his gaze to Jin, tears streaming down his cheeks. "Hy...hyung..." he stuttered, struggling to speak. "Ji...Jimin hyung and Tae Tae hyung... they... they are..." He trailed off, succumbing to hyperventilation.
"Hey, hey, calm down, Kooki," Yoongi said, rubbing Jungkook's back soothingly. "Hyung... I couldn't save them... I..." Jungkook's words were interrupted by a familiar voice calling his name. He looked in the direction of the voice, his eyes widening in disbelief as he saw his two hyungs, whom he had thought were dead. They approached him, tears evident in their eyes.
"Jungkook, we are alive and alright. We are sorry for causing you this. Hyungs were only joking," Jimin said, gently patting his head. Jungkook remained silent, just staring at him.
"We pranked you, and that's why you are here. We are sorry. Hyungs are sorry, Jungkook," Taehyung added, holding Jungkook's hand. "It... it was all a prank," Jungkook finally said, slowly releasing his hand from Taehyung's grip. Taehyung looked at Jungkook with confusion, then glanced at Jimin.
"You pranked me with... with your death... how could you??" Jungkook's voice trembled with emotion. "Kooki, we..." Jimin began to explain, but Jungkook cut him off. "How could you do this to me? Your death prank? Is this a joke to you? Do you know how scared I was thinking about your... death... I just... can't... ta..." He broke down into sobs, his words interrupted by hiccups. Jin immediately hugged him, and Jungkook buried his face in Jin's chest, clinging to him tightly.
"Hy... hyung... tell them to go... please... I don't want to talk to them," Jungkook managed to say amidst his sobs. Jin looked at his two younger brothers, who hung their heads in guilt, before they silently left Jungkook's room, followed by Hoseok and Namjoon.
"We made him angry now. I can't believe we hurt him so bad that he hates us now," Jimin said, tears welling up in his eyes. Hoseok rubbed his arms reassuringly. "He doesn't hate you. He's just upset because he loves you both so much that he can't even think of your... you know," Hoseok avoided saying the word "death."
"So... he's not going to forgive us?" Taehyung sobbed heavily. "He will, baby, he will," Namjoon said, hugging Taehyung tightly. "He needs some time, then everything will be alright, trust me."
Time skip
Jungkook was discharged from the hospital and returned home. However, he still wasn't speaking to Taehyung and Jimin, which broke their hearts.
"Is he still mad at us?" Taehyung asked as he watched Jungkook head upstairs to his room without acknowledging him or Jimin, though he spoke with his elder brothers.
"I think so," Jin said with a sigh. "You should talk to him," Yoongi added, crossing his arms. Jimin and Taehyung exchanged glances and nodded in agreement.
They went to Jungkook's room and knocked on the door, but he didn't answer. So, Taehyung slowly pushed the door, finding it unlocked. They stepped inside the room cautiously. Jungkook was sitting at his study table, seemingly asleep. Jimin approached him and gently rubbed his shoulder. "Kooki-ah," he said softly. Jungkook slowly looked at him and stood up quickly. "What are you two doing here?" he asked coldly.
They felt bad because Jungkook had never spoken to them like that before. Taehyung wanted to cry, but he held back his tears and said, "Kooki, we can talk about this... We just want to apologize and..."
Taehyung was cut off by Jungkook. "I don't want to talk to you."
"But Jungkook, listen to us just this once..." Jimin pleaded.
"Hyung, please. I said I don't want to talk, and..." Before he could finish his sentence, he began to fall forward, but luckily Taehyung caught him just in time.
"Jungkook!! Jungkook, what happened?" Taehyung asked, his voice filled with worry. They started to panic. "Hyung, hyung!!" Jimin called out to his brothers as Taehyung placed Jungkook on his bed. "Jungkook... Kooki, please wake up..." Taehyung pleaded, tears streaming down his face, but the younger didn't budge.
"What happened???" Yoongi asked, entering the room with their other brothers. "Jungkook..." Jimin said, sobbing. "What happened to him?" Jin asked as they all rushed to the youngest. "Jungkook," Yoongi said, shaking him gently, but Jungkook remained unconscious. "What happened to him, hyung? Why is he not waking up?" Taehyung asked, his tears flowing uncontrollably. Jin sighed and looked down. "Maybe he's too stressed, baby, so he fainted."
"We caused this to him. We are such bad brothers," Jimin said, crying as he knelt down. "Kooki, we are sorry, we are really sorry. Please forgive us. It's okay if you don't want to talk to us, but please wake up," Taehyung pleaded, his cries growing louder.
"Hate us, but please don't do this to us. Wake up, Kooki, please," Jimin begged through his tears.
"I never hated you, hyung," Jungkook said, smiling from the bed. Everyone turned to look at him as he spoke. "Kooki!" Jimin and Taehyung exclaimed in unison, rushing to hug him tightly. "Sorry, not too tight, please," Jungkook chuckled.
"Are you okay? How are you feeling?" Jimin bombarded him with questions, while Taehyung echoed his concern. "I'm fine, hyung. I'm not stressed, and I didn't faint," Jungkook reassured them, smiling.
"What!? You didn't faint? So, this was..." they trailed off, confusion evident in their voices. "A prank!" their four older brothers exclaimed, bursting into laughter.
Taehyung and Jimin exchanged glances. "Yes, it was a prank, or rather, punishment for what you did to me," Jungkook said.
"It was Jungkook's idea, by the way," Jin said, smiling. "He wanted to pull the same prank on you to make you understand how it feels."
"Our idea was to lock you in your room for a week," Namjoon added, looking amused.
"What?!" Taehyung and Jimin yelled in disbelief.
"Yeah, you deserved it for what you did to him," Yoongi said, patting Jungkook's head.
"But this was much worse than what we did," Taehyung said, embracing Jungkook. "I understand, hyung. That's exactly how I felt when I saw both of you dead in front of me," Jungkook said, his eyes welling up with tears.
"We're sorry, Kooki," Jimin said sincerely. "Yes, we're truly sorry for scaring you so much. Please forgive us," Taehyung added.
"Okay, I forgive you, but please never do anything like this again," Jungkook said firmly. "Never," they both promised, engulfing him in tight hugs.
"Group hug without me?!" Hoseok exclaimed, joining the hug along with the other three.
"Hyung, are you trying to break my bones?!" Jungkook exclaimed from within the embrace.
"No, no, never. We would never do that to our bunny," Yoongi laughed as they all broke the hug.
Jungkook chuckled at his brothers. He loved his brothers and cherished their love. After all, he was the youngest.
