Something made me wake up. My phone was ringing up.
It was Jennie.
"DANG IT!"
"I totally forgot that I need to be at Carol's by now"
"It's almost late"
I picked up the call.
"Yeah Jennie! Everything okay?"
"I'm on my way"
She blared out.
"Don't lie to me"
"I know about you"
"It's almost past 1 hour and we've been waiting for you and you're not here yet"
"You're never gonna be responsible!"
"Why don't you be punctual at least for these matters?"
"Calm down Jen"
"I'll be there in minutes"
"I'm counting"
She hanged up the call.
I threw on some jeans and a casual T-shirt up. I grabbed my phone and reached out for a taxi quickly.
Finally, I was at Carol's.
I knocked the door.
"What took you so long?"
Katie opened it and exhaled big.
I sighed.
She gestured my way to the living room. There was Jennie consoling Carol's mom and Carol's dad seemed to be mad at the phone call.
"Hey Ms.Jones"
She turned up from Jennie and hurried to me.
"Caroline is no more"
She teared up.
"I'm sorry that..."
I wasn't able to hold back my tears. I wiped it off with my shirt.
"Why did she end up herself?"
"Why she has to commit a suicide?"
I was completely freaked out. So did Katie and Jennie.
"Wait! What?"
"That wasn't a suicide"
"A ghost pushed her down from the balcony"
"Katie! Didn't you explain?"
She hushed back.
"I really know this right now"
"Ms.Jones was crying and only crying when we were here"
Jennie tapped on her shoulders.
"Ms.Jones"
"You totally misunderstood it"
"It was a haunted soul who pushed her down"
"WE SAW IT!!"
"Didn't the officers tell y'all?"
Ms.Jones seemed completely lost.
"What?"
"They told me that she committed suicide after all"
"Oh God!"
"This wouldn't have happened"
"I'm not gonna believe in ghost"
We three looked each other.
Ms.Jones called out for her husband who now hanged up the call after being so aloud.
They both were discussing the ongoing situation. Mr.Jones gone completely mad.
"So girls!"
"That was a good story to trick on"
"And y'all know what? I'm not gonna believe it"
"You three stopped talkin' to her for past days and she was depressed"
"Drop the act right away!"
I was pretty damn sure that he was freakin' crazy after his daughter's death.
I looked back for Katie.
"What the fuck?"
I muttered.
Katie took on the lead.
"Mr.Jones"
"That's not true"
"How'd you even know that it was a suicide?"
He replied back.
"The officials told me everything"
"But I guessed that it was y'all who put her to death"
Jennie backed up.
"Pardon me!"
"I think we need to calm..no you need to calm down first to hear what exactly happened"
"We were there and we saw everything"
"You're suspecting us?"
"Just give us some time to narrate the whole incident that happened TRULY!"
He cared less and sat on the couch.
"C'mon girls!"
"I'm not gonna believe anything that y'all say"
"You're prolly trying to redeem yourself"
We looked at Ms.Jones who seemed concerned about our words.
"Ms.Jones!"
"We're her friends after all"
"How could we put her to death?"
"We love her!"
"And you know how her disappearance has affected us?"
"It's hard..understand please.."
Jennie came up with the "Dating" thing.
"Yes exactly!"
"She went on a date with Charlie yesterday"
"And we saw her at the mansion"
Mr.Jones growled ferociously.
"Don't ever tell anything wrong about my daughter!"
"That is never gonna work out!"
He spitted out the words and went up to his room slamming the door hardly enough to break it.
"Ms.Jones..Please believe us.."
She seemed to be worried about us but she couldn't help.
"We're leaving the city tomorrow"
All that was she said and left back.
I tapped on the two's shoulders gesturing to go.
"Let's go guys"
"Every bad happens to us"
Jennie could barely even talk. All she left was a tear. We left the house.
"I can't even imagine how Carol lived with her father"
"He doesn't even have patience"
Katie startled up.
"Wait up!"
"The officials messed it up"
"Not us"
"They had lied to her parents"
"We need to see 'em now"
We both nodded yes. We called a taxi and arrived at the police station.
We headed in. I saw one of the officials sitting in a chair, whom I met yesternight at the incident.
I went up straight to him, they both followed me.
"Excuse me, sir?"
"We need to talk"
He turned back.
"Yes girls?"
"What's the matter?"
I took a deep breath before opening up. They both was standing on the other side of me.
"You know Caroline?"
"The girl who was "murdered" yesterday"
He seemed to act very well.
"What murder? It was a sui-"
I cut him off.
"Don't ever say that it was a suicide!"
"We know that it was a murder and you too know it"
He startled up.
"Hey girl!"
"Keep it low"
Jennie backed up in anger.
"Why'd we?"
"Y'all reported that it was a homicide when it was a murder!"
He tried to calm us down.
"Okay don't tell anyone that it was a murder!"
"I'll explain you everything"
He gestured us to come near the locker room which was next to the evidence room. He headed there first and we followed him.
He broke the silence in there.
"Look girls, we are said to report that it was a suicide"
"We've been looking that case for past hella time and we couldn't solve it"
"We've only let out to them that it was a suicide"
"But the officials are still tryna figure out the lady"
"We don't know whether it's a real human being or if there's someone else behind this mystery"
We looked almost ridiculous.
"It's your duty!"
"You aren't supposed to give a false information about our friend's death!"
"We can't simply agree it"
"You are not trying to get the dirt on your hands!"
"The whole official crew!"
"Isn't?"
He shushed us.
"There are un-officials roaming here for their case"
"That's all I can say"
"Don't try to act like a detective"
"Our station house has been in the number one for past decades and we don't want to lose it"
"You better mind off!"
Katie got crazy and punched one of the lockers in frustration.
"How'd you even tell it?"
"You literally enclosed a false statement to close the cases just to be the number one!"
"We're gonna report it"
He replied rolling off his eyes.
"Well, don't try too hard"
"Many did it already"
"But we're still running"
And then he smirked.
Jennie hustled rolling up her sleeves.
"We're not gonna let this happen!"
"C'mon guys! Let's do what we need to do!"
She headed outside the station house. We both frowned at him and left behind Jennie to the road.
