She gave a light slap on my back which made me to stand up and continue the walk.
"Fine!"
"We'll do it!"
"I have no other go, than to tag along with you freaks"
Katie and Jennie chuckled when I flustered at 'em.
Katie took her mobile out and groaned. Her face gleamed with the display light.
"Aawh"
"There's not even a single lamp post"
"It's very dark over here"
"Lemme turn on the flashlight first"
She unlocked her phone and turned on the flashlight. That light helped us better to catch our way.
I gazed upon the sky when I realised that it was so cold and I felt a drop of water on me.
"It looks as if it's going to rain heavily soon"
Katie looked up too.
"Yeah! I suppose"
Jennie rubbed her sneakers against to test the road,
"This is actually a normal road"
"It has not been well built too"
As the light passed on, we saw a dark figure coming from our opposite direction.
It was completely black but it was clear that it had two legs.
We didn't stop after seeing the figure. So, we were walking casually but still felt ridiculous.
The figure was coming closer and closer in our way. At a certain point, we confirmed that it was a boy with black hoodie and a black pant.
His face was covered with a mask, only letting his eyes and forehead visible to us.
He stopped suddenly and looked at our faces with a death stare.
We too stopped when he stared us and it was a dead silent.
He frowned.
"What are you all doing here?".
He sounded deep and scary.
I gained my anxiety level to the core. I supposed that it was one of the police officers, who was in charge for that house.
Katie popped up to redeem ourselves.
"Uh..Huh.."
"We just came this si...side..."
She stammered.
Jennie came up with a reason to back that boy.
"Uhm"
"Yeah!"
"We are going to the woods, and I suppose it's behind the way to that mansion"
She laughed nervously.
I did nothing but stood silent watching the conversation.
The boy replied thickly.
"Why are you guys going there now?"
"It's too dark and cold now"
Jennie continued chuckling nervously.
"We..we just wanna go there for dru.. a medicine"
"Uhhh.. a medicinal plant"
"My granny is suffering with physical pains which makes her feel really bad today and she's losing her conscious simultaneously.."
"Uhm..so, she told me to pluck a ginseng from the woods"
"If she don't get this by now, she.."
"I don't wanna miss my granny.."
The boy sighed.
"Ugh! Fine!"
"Don't be wandering over the places"
"Get your job done quickly!"
"Clear?"
We three nodded hardly.
"YEAH"
"Sure!"
The boy then walked away passing us to get out from the archer avenue.
Katie popped up and patted Jennie.
"Jennie!"
"You're really good in making out fake stuffs"
"Better than me!"
I too wondered that how she made such a realistic fiction in seconds.
"JENNN!"
"I really wondered whether your granny asked us for a ginseng?"
I chuckled.
She replied annoyingly,
"Guys! C'mon"
"You very well know that it's a lie"
"I don't have a granny either"
"I too stammered in mid..but.."
"But I saved us!"
We started to stroll again.
We heard only our footsteps. Jennie turned back to see whether the boy has moved out of the avenue.
"No one nowhere"
Finally, we were at the threshold of the way to mansion.
There was a big black iron gate, almost rusted and a label board made up of bark on the side of the main gate stating "OLIVE GREENS MANSION" in big and bold letters.
We stopped there and Jennie jaw dropped.
"This is literally amazing"
"I've never seen anything like this before"
"This exploration is all enough for my life"
Katie nodded.
"I'm excited too Jennie"
There was a wall compounded along the gate. Sidewalk on both the sides of the gate, a driveway paver organized with some creepers and greens which was dead.
I creeped out after seeing it right before my eye.
"Creeps"
Katie tapped at my back and nodded.
The iron gate clattered. I rubbed my eyes to have a clearer look of the gate.
"Hey, it's locked with the crime seal in it"
Katie went forward and took the lock to take a look of the seal. She hit it with her knuckles.
"It's ceased"
"It seems to be hard to unlock... huh.."
Jennie wandered through the left side to find another way to get in the driveway or the sidewalk.
"Hey guys, it's not a big adversity"
"Let's climb up the wall"
"Come over this side"
"This side..uh...it's short"
"C'mon"
I sighed.
"You're just making us into one of your kind, ape"
Jennie chuckled.
"You are already into it"
"No wonder that you're an ape"
Katie and I travelled along the side of Jennie and found a perfect spot to climb up.
"You give it a go first, Jennie"
Jennie climbed upon the wall which was not taller than her height. She jumped to the other side of the wall.
"Everythin' okay guys"
"Your turn now"
I prepared myself to get over next.
"Fine Katie, I'll go next"
"Yeah, okay"
"Eyes on your aim!"
I jumped over the wall and got to the side of Jennie. Since it was dark on our side and Katie had the flashlight, we were nudging each other's arms.
Finally, it was Katie's turn. There was a silence for few seconds.
"Katie! You alive?"
Katie whined.
"Uhmm"
"Wait"
She kept her phone on her pocket and brought her hands into mission. She climbed over the wall and jumped hardly on our side which made her to slip over the ground.
We both went closer to her and helped her to get up from the ground. It was hard for us to hold back our laughter.
"Why the heck you wanna jump so hard?"
"Is it too difficult though? Thinkin' yourself a superhero huh?"
Katie groaned in pain.
"Aaawh! I didn't see it properly"
"There is no need to mock me over guys"
"C'mon! Act more like a human"
Katie took the light out which made the surrounding better than before but still eerie.
Everything that was planted almost got ruined by the rain that poured the day before. The atmosphere signed as if something's gonna happen strange.
I felt something under my sneakers. Something solid and hard.
"Katie tilt the light here"
"I've spotted something"
She brought the flashlight closer to my sneakers.
"Oh my gosh"
"It's an invitation"
