"Doctor! We need you in trauma 6!" I heard a nurse yell as I adjusted my blue gloves
I had been the trauma fellow at LA medical centre for 4 years now, I moved to LA after my sister, Chris. We have been pretty much inseparable from birth. I see a lot of her Swat buddies coming in and out of here but I would never forgive myself if Chris came in.
"Hey Y/N!" Chris said as she walked into the staff room of the hospital
"Chris! What are you doing here?" I asked as I gave her a hug
"Street had to drop by and get some stitches put in, so I thought I would drop in and see my favourite sister" Chris said as she sat down
"I'm your only sister" I explained as I smiled
"Y/N! There you are!" Street said as he walked in
"What do you want?" I asked
"Can you stitch me up?" Street asked, with puppy dog eyes
"Street we've been through this, I'm a trauma fellow! I don't deal with tiny cuts" I explained
"This was very traumatic! Please Y/N?" Street asked
"Fine! But only this once!" I agreed as I stood up and walked out with him
"And that's you all done Mr. Street" I announced as I finished the last stitch in his hand
"Thank you Miss Alonso" Street added as he stretched out his hand
"Doctor...Alonso!" I corrected him
"Right sorry doctor" Street added as he smiled
"Ugh! Will you please stop drooling over my sister?!" Chris said
"I wasn't drooling!" Street yelled
"Oh really? Well what's that there then?" Chris mocked, as she pointed to his mouth
"I hate you so much!" Street said as I laughed
"Get outa here you two! Go save an old woman from being robbed or something!" I said as I pushed them out the cubicle
"Bye sis!" Chris yelled as they walked out
It's an hour later and I have just finished up with my patient, I then look down at my pager to see a trauma going down at a near by bank. I then see the head of the ED walking up to me
"I need you to go down to that bank" She said
"What? Why me?!" I asked
"Your the head trauma doctor! Go now!" She yelled before hurrying away
I packed up all my things before jumping in the back of an ambo
"Hey? Do you know if swat are there?" I asked
"Not sure why?" A paramedic responded
"Oh no reason" I added, trying not to let the fear take over my body
We arrived within minutes, I stepped out of the ambo to see injured victims lying everywhere. Some critical, some not. I was the only doctor on scene so all the pressure was landed on me.
"Doctor Alonso?" The paramedic asked
"Yeah! I'm coming!" I said snapping out of it
I started to frantically treat patients, starting with the most critical. I got them all stabilised and overheard swat talking
"She's going to bleed out!" Chris argued
"None of our paramedics will go in there?!" Hondo yelled
I then got up and walked over to them
"What's her injuries?" I asked, fixing the stethoscope around my neck
"She was shot twice, once in the leg and once in the chest" Chris explains
"I'll go in there" I said
"Woah! No your not!" Chris argued
"I'm the only doctor on sight, and she's not going to make it out alive without me" I stated
"Okay, get her suited up!" Hondo ordered
I then got suited up with all of my gear, before getting escorted into the bank. I saw a woman lying on the floor bleeding out and I ran over to her. I then checked for a pulse and there wasn't one
"I need an intubation kit!" I said through my radio
"Your not getting anything!" A man yelled as he locked the door
"Hey! Sir I'm going to need you to open the door! Or else she's going to die!" I yelled before working on the woman
"I don't think so princess!" The man yelled as he pulled out a gun and pointed it towards me
"Alonso! Do you copy!" I heard my radio buzz
"Turn it off!" The man yelled as I slowly reached for my radio and turned it off
"Okay, it's off" I said slowly putting my hands back up
"Don't you dare fix her up! You hear me!" He yelled
"I'm sorry but I can't do that! And we both know your not going to pull that damn trigger! And even if you did I couldn't care less because your already going away for life! Now put the fucking gun down!" I yelled before turning back to the woman
I started to work on her, out of the corner of my eye I could see the mans face going red. He was getting angrier
"You wanna bet!" He yelled before pulling the trigger
I tried to move out the way but it was too late, I felt the bullet pierce the side of my stomach and I fell to the ground
"Ah" I muttered grabbing my side
"Get your hands up where I can see them!" Hondo yelled, holding a gun up to the mans head
"Okay, okay" The man said placing his gun on the ground
"I've got him!" Hondo muttered as he cuffed the man
Chris then came flying in, she took one look at me and instantly ran over
"Y/N!" She yelled as she took over applying pressure to my side
"C-Chris" I muttered
"Don't talk honey" She added
"I need paramedics in here now!" Chris yelled
3 paramedics then came flooding in and I felt them start to work on my
"She doesn't have much time!" I heard a medic mutter before everything went black
*Chris's POV*
"I knew I shouldn't have let her in there!" I yelled pacing up and down a hospital waiting room
"Hey it wasn't your fault!" Street protested
"It was street! I made the call for her to go in there! I told her that we were going to have her back!" I yelled as I saw a doctor approach us
The whole of the team stood up, the doctor then took one look at me
"I'm so sorry Miss Alonso" She said as I felt my heart sink
"No?!" I yelled
"She coded in surgery, we did the best we could, Y/N passed away at 12:59" She stated as I fell to the ground in tears...
