*BELLA’S POV*
“Autumn is here.” Edward told me as we were running towards the main house.
I stopped short. “What?”
He quickly realized I had stopped and turned around, stopping beside me. “What’s wrong, Bella?”
I pursed my lips. “Edward, I don’t have a good feeling about her.”
“Why is that?”
“I’m not sure. How do we know she can be trusted?”
“Carlisle trusts her.”
I sighed. “Just be careful.”
“But Bella,”
“Please?”
He sighed. “Only for you.” He smiled.
“Thank you.” I leaned my head against his chest. “I love you.”
“As I love you.” He pressed his lips against my hair.
I smiled. “So I have to cover all of us with my shield?”
Edward nodded.
I sighed. “Let’s go.”
“Hello Autumn.” Edward greeted.
She grinned ear to ear from her place on the couch, next to Esme. They were looking at photo albums from the past. I love how Esme’s smile just radiates through the room.
“Edward, Autumn has horrible news.” Carlisle explained.
Edward walked, with his arm around my waist protectively, and sat in an armchair next to Carlisle, looking at Autumn expectingly.
She sighed and looked down. “The Denali’s kicked me out of their coven.”
“Why?” I asked.
“They didn’t give me a reason. Tanya told me to leave before dawn.” She sniffled.
Esme, taking her motherly role, hugged Autumn.
“I’m okay, thanks Esme.” Autumn said.
Esme smiled. “Your welcome, dear.”
Carlisle spoke up, “Edward, we were considering letting Autumn join our coven.” He spoke very slowly.
Edward’s eyes widened. “Carlisle, may I speak with you privately for a moment?”
Carlisle nodded, and they both left the room.
The tension in the room was so thick you could cut it with a knife. No, it was too thick to cut it at all. Even with a chainsaw.
“Hello Bella.” Autumn smiled at me.
“Autumn.” I simply acknowledged her. Like I said, I do not like her.
She ignored my rude expression. “How’s Nessie?”
“Renesmee.”
“What?”
“Her name,” I paused, “Is Renesmee.”
She frowned. “Oh.”
I was saved by Edward and Carlisle returning.
“So?” Autumn asked, her cheery persona back.
Carlisle smiled. “Welcome to the family.”
