Chapter 20

“What!?” I screamed.

Carlisle looked shocked. Edward pinched the bridge of his nose.

“Told you Bella wouldn’t be happy.” Edward whispered to Carlisle.

“Bella, Autumn needs us right now.” Carlisle tried to calm me down.

I jumped out of my seat. “No!”

Autumn smiled. “Yes.”

I looked at her with pure hatred on my face. “Leave.” I growled.

“I’m part of the family, I don’t have to leave.” Her smile was so devious.

“I live here, and so does my daughter. Either you leave, or we do.” I hissed.

Edward gasped. “Bella, think about this before you-”

“No, Edward! I told you I didn’t like her!” I shrieked.

“Bella, calm down.” Autumn said. “Carlisle, is she okay? … Mentally?” She whispered.

That was it. I lunged myself at her, forgetting where I was. I aimed a fist to her face, but she caught it in her hand, and threw it back. In a matter of seconds Carlisle restrained Autumn, and Edward held me against him.

“What were you thinking?” Edward growled in my ear.

“I’m leaving.” I shook Edward’s arms off of me, and trudged out of the house.

I just kept running, knowing Edward was following me. I could hear that he was trying to be silent in his footsteps, but I knew him better.

I lowered my shield. Stop following me.

Then stop running. Edward thought inside my own head.

How could you let Autumn join us? I accused.

Carlisle convinced me. Bella, she isn’t such a bad person. Give her a chance.

No! Edward, you don’t understand! I just don’t have a good feeling about her. I pushed my legs to keep running.

Bella, talk to me. Stop running. His velvet voice made me stop.

Edward caught up to me, and pulled me into a hug. “We can handle this. We always can.”

“I can’t.” I hugged him back.

“Yes, you can. You can do anything.” He kissed my forehead.

I smiled. “Promise?”

“Promise.” He tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.

“I hate you for making me love you.” I giggled.

“Love you too.” He crashed his lips against mine. After all these years, I still get lightheaded when he kisses me.

“Is she gone?” I asked Carlisle as I entered the house again.

“Yes.”

“Is she coming back?”

Carlisle sighed. “I wish you’d give her a chance, Bella.”

“Just wait. I’m right.” I walked upstairs to where Nessie and Jacob were talking.

They’ve been up there a few hours.

I slowly opened the door.

They were both sleeping. Renesmee in Jacob’s arms.

I smiled. I’m actually really happy for them both. It’s a perfect match.

I picked up a blanket, and placed it over them.

“I love you both.” I whispered, and left the room.
