Letting Loose

"Flygon use bug buzz! Togekiss, aura sphere!"

Both pokemon fired their moves in quick succession, aiming at their targets. The barrage of attacks all connected, a cloud of dust covering the opposing two pokemon from our sights.

This battle had been raging on for some time. It was taking all six of my pokemon to keep these primal beasts at bay and even then we were still at a disadvantage. Neither Kyogre or Groudon seemed worn down by anything that we were doing, their primal forms giving them newfound power that far surpassed what I had dealt with years ago.

A huge torrent of water pierced through the dust cloud, destined for both Flygon and Togekiss. At the last second they were able to evade the attack, the water move crashing into the already unstable cave walls. A crater was formed in the side of the chamber where Kyogre's attack made contact.

Groudon stepped forward, melting the rocks beneath its feet just by standing there. Floating on a pool of lava, the continent pokemon let out a terrible roar, letting out a burst of scorching heat.

Each flying pokemon ascended into the air, avoiding the devastating fire move. Milotic submerged herself under the water at her own risk of running into Kyogre. Jirachi was still by my side, the wish pokemon also moving to evade the attack.

Blaziken stood steadfast on a pile of rubble. Her stance didn't change as Groudon's overheat attack closed in on where she was stood.

At the last second, the fire type reeled back, letting out a blazing wave of flames to counter the fire move. Both moves collided with each other, the excess flames washing past Blaziken as she stood unfazed as the smoke cleared.

We made eye contact even in the chaos, only one thing in her eyes. I could see the confidence overflowing from her body, knowing that she would be able to hold her own.

"Alright, Togekiss, support Blaziken, we'll focus on Kyogre. Don't let her do anything too reckless."

With that, the fairy pokemon broke off from the formation, descending to Blaziken's side. I trusted that those two would be able to keep Groudon busy while I came up with a plan to guarantee our victory because as things looked right now, our chances were slim.

My mind raced faster than it ever had before, calculating every outcome each decision I made would have. At first, nothing came to mind as my pokemon kept working to keep the titans busy.

Before I could react, a huge rocky spike pierced through the lava pool, headed for where I was stood. Milotic leapt out of the water, cutting through the rocks with her metallic silver tail. Blaziken leapt from the rubble, bringing her foot down over Groudon's head, pulling the titan's attention back to her.

I could see how much the fire type wanted this, remembering how she had always wanted to go all out in a battle since we had met up with the others weeks ago. This was her time but I wasn't ready to move the final piece just yet.

A dark grey cloud slowly made its way overhead, rumbling with intensity. Then all of a sudden, Kyogre let out a deafening roar, summoning a huge bolt of lightning that couldn't miss in the stormy weather.

There was a flash of green from my side, Flygon breaking his neck to jump in front of the attack. Fortunately, he made it in time, sapping away the electric move as he turned his attention back to the deep sea basin pokemon. The dragon pokemon glowed with a mystical light, engulfed in a multicoloured light, crashing into Kyogre at full speed.

The more I looked around, the more everything became clear to me. All of my pokemon were giving it their all in this fight so I wasn't in this alone. It didn't matter how many times I experienced this revelation, each time would refresh my confidence and determination to pull through no matter the opponent.

The cogs in my mind clicked into place as I turned to the worn battlefield. My eyes darted around the chamber, processing how this grand plan would be put into place.

"Guys, I've got it!"

There was a collective silence between everyone in the chamber as each of my six pokemon nodded with certainty. Neither Kyogre or Groudon seemed to notice the burst of confidence from each of their opponents, still thirsty for chaos.

"Jirachi, doom desire! Milotic, use moonblast!"

The wish pokemon flew into the air from my side, opening her third eye as she summoned a huge sphere of purple energy, releasing it into a small portal.

Milotic leapt out of the water, coiling her body as she fired the fairy move in quick succession. Everyone else was doing their best to keep the opponents busy so they weren't able to react in time as the two orbs of mystical pink energy hit their targets.

Kyogre and Groudon looked momentarily stunned and it was only now that I was seeing the toll of this long, drawn out battle taking its effect. Nevertheless, they both let out bellowing roars, showing that they were far from done.

"When Groudon uses precipice blades, Flygon take over." I turned to the other side of the chamber, "Salamence, when Kyogre uses origin pulse, take charge!"

Sure enough, the two primal pokemon resorted to their most powerful attacks. Groudon stomped down hard on the pool of lava, summoning a multitude of sharp columns of jagged rocks. As instructed, Flygon took control of the battle, using his earth power to shake the room, disrupting Groudon's attack. The columns of jagged rocks missed their mark, allowing the others to use this opening to counter.

As I turned to the other side of the chamber, Salamence was already taking his position, ready for his opponent. The dragon pokemon sized up the sea basin pokemon and for a moment, his confidence became infectious.

The moment Kyogre launched the glowing blue orbs of energy, the dragon pokemon was ready. Salamence reared back, using his earthquake attack to bring the roof down. Just as Kyogre's attack was about to hit, he used the cover of the falling rubble to make an opening.

Milotic leapt out of the water, following her partner as the two surged forward. The water type fired a torrential blast of water at the target, the opponent stunned for a moment. Salamence let out a terrifying roar as he cloaked himself in a draconic light, crashing into Kyogre.

But, the legendary titans weren't done there. Kyogre leaping out of the water to engulf the chamber in an icy gale, using its thunder attack to close in on Salamence as he circled the room. Groudon let out a deep roar, leaning back as it let out a devastating eruption. The scorching lava threatened to destroy the room in a terrible smog but Blaziken was ready for action.

"This is it now! Blaziken, mega evolve!"

A bright white light engulfed the fire type and as it faded, she had evolved into her mega form. Ribbons of fire streamed from her wrists, her new power now more than a match for the titans before her.

"Togekiss, Jirachi, support with dazzling gleam!"

All of a sudden, the icy gale on one side and the scorching waves of lava on the other were completely blotted out by a blinding light. The fairy move hit its target, the titans rearing back in pain as the combined power of Togekiss and Jirachi connected directly.

Then as the light seemed to fade, a dark portal opened over the heads of Kyogre and Groudon. Both were too stunned to react as a mass of psychic energy descended, barraging the two titans as they fell to the floor for the first time.

But both returned to their feet, not ready to let go of their newfound power just yet. Kyogre roared, summoning a storm of glowing blue orbs as Groudon stomped down, calling on a surge of jagged rocks.

Before either could react, a red blur moved through the chamber, cutting through the columns of sharp rocks, evading the pursuing orbs of aquatic energy simultaneously. Now, the stage was set for the contest finale, Blaziken leaping into the air, twisting her body to face her opponents.

Neither titan was a match for her speed, the fire type letting loose with a barrage of close range attacks. Blaziken was a storm untamed, subjecting Groudon and Kyogre to a hurricane of kicks as they crashed to the ground once again.

As the dust cleared, both titans were engulfed in bright glowing lights. Before I knew it, they had reverted to their original forms, the two coloured orbs only a few feet from where I was stood.

Without hesitating, I picked them both up but as I turned around, a tall shadow was stood behind me. Covered in bruises and terrible injuries, Archie stood silently, a serious look on his face.

"This victory means nothing. The king will still rise!"

I didn't have time to hear what he was saying, swinging my right fist into his jaw, sending him flying into the rubble. I shook my hand, feeling the recoil of the direct hit but I could deal with it.

What he and Maxie were saying didn't make sense but it didn't matter because I was sure that was the last I would hear from them.
