"I think I was a hazard, to begin with".
✰✰✰
Addison Cullen had spent almost over an hour making sure every little detail was absolutely perfect hoping to ease Alice's worries, there were no wrinkles or creases, the boots were clean with not a single speck of mud on the black velvet, and her nails were freshly painted and un-smudged, everything was perfect and now it was the moment of truth on whether or not Alice would be pleased.
Addison stood back chewing on the inside of her cheek as Alice studied her appearance, to Addison, it seemed like her twin had studied every little detail for over an hour but in reality, it was only fifteen minutes or less. "It's perfect" Alice squealed making Addison let out a breath of relief through her nose "oh thank fu- okay finally moving on" Addison placing her hands on Alice's shoulders both of them staring at each other through the glass reflection of the mirror. "So what are you going to do when you meet with our favorite she-werewolf?"
"I'm just going to be myself, this isn't any different from all the other times I've hung out with Leah besides everything is going to work out", Addison's smile brightened as she practically shoved her twin towards the door. "Great! Now go have fun with Leah and don't talk about me too much".
✰✰✰
Alice pulled into the Clearwater's driveway listening to the gravels crunch underneath the tires, she felt slightly weird being on the other side of the treaty but the sight of Leah took all those feelings away, she wasn't wearing her normal clothes that consisted of a tank top and jean shorts. No, she was dressed in a slightly cropped tee-shirt that showed a tiny sliver of tanned skin, and dark blue jeans with rips in the knees, she pulled the entire outfit together with a leather jacket and black combat boots. Her fingers were donned with rings and her nails were painted a midnight black, to Alice, she looked positively stunning. "W-wow"...
Alice Cullen wasn't the only one who had asked Addison Marie Whitlock for clothing advice, oh no Leah Clearwater had called Addison the moment she arrived home from the beach in a panic, she hadn't actually been on a date since Sam, and Alice didn't even compare to Sam which is why Leah needed to have a good first impression on their first date.
"W-wow" Alice stuttered clumsily trying to close the car door and hearing that reaction made Leah's confidence soar her hands smoothing down over the leather of the jacket, the action only making Alice stumble more "oh wow you look...wow". She had never seen the pixie at a loss for words and being the one who did it made her ego grow in ways she never knew possible, "same to you" Leah smiled and Alice was grateful that vampires couldn't blush.
"Sooo" Alice quickly cleared her throat trying to seem like she wasn't drooling over the she-wolf "what's the plan?" Leah pushed herself off the wall of the house walking towards the bike that was covered by a black tarp to protect it from the constant rain and with one quick and simple motion, she yanked the tarp away. "Have you ever rode on a motorcycle?"
"Once with Jasper... Do you go as fast as he does?" Leah wasn't sure how to respond, she always figured vampires liked speeding but perhaps Alice was different "I- uh I don't have to-" Alice practically bounced towards the bike cutting off Leah's sentence with a happy squeal. "Great let's go!" she giggled making Leah chuckle, Alice was definitely going to be a handful.
✰✰✰
Alice had only ridden on the back of a motorcycle once: Addison and Jasper had just come back from their monthly ride and Alice suddenly grew curious, she wanted to understand why her twin liked riding so much and then she felt the pure rush of adrenaline from speeding down the roads... but riding with Leah was different, Alice felt safe speeding down the roads, she felt completely at ease even though they could crash from how fast they weaved through the different cars on the highway. And then she realized why Addison liked riding with Jasper so much, it was because she had no worries with someone she loved, she could just sit back and enjoy the ride and the wind.
"Leah where... are we?" Alice asked as Leah climbed off her motorcycle ruffling her brown wind-blown locks, "a rollerskating rink, it's only opened for a month and I figured it would be fun, we can do something else, I just thought-". Alice once again cut her off by grabbing her wrist the coldness contrasting with the wolf's warm skin, "come on, come on".
The Rollerskating Rink was 80's theme, bright neon lights flashed around the dark area, loud music pumped through the speakers, to Leah, the experience was all brand new but to Alice, it was heaven, she remembered the old-time rollerskating rinks, she remembered the cheap greasy foods and slushies, she remembered the people who danced around without any care, and she remembered dancing with Addison and Rosalie, she would have to bring her sisters here sometime. "So do you like it?"
"Like it? Leah, I love it" Alice replied, "come on let's go get some skates".
✰✰✰
Alice felt free as she glided on the smooth floor weaving through the people, swaying with the music, and after a moment she realized the Leah was still holding on to the railing, "Leah... do you not know how to skate?" Leah's brown eyes darken her stubbornness coming into play "I know how to skate" she let go of the railing moving to take a step when her legs gave out and she began to tumble. "Leah!" Alice giggled grabbing a hold of the wolf before she fell "you can't skate?"
Leah huffed trying to keep herself steady with the help of Alice, "yeah... I can't skate" she admitted a shy smile tugging at her lips making Alice bite back a smile, "Leah if you can't skate then why did you choose a skating rink?" Alice's voice was teasing making the werewolf blush from embarrassment "I thought it would be easy".
Alice smiled at the girl thinking her actions were adorable "aww okay here hold on to me" she didn't give Leah much time to think before she slowly moved backwards. Leah's legs felt like jelly as she tried to keep herself steady as the wheels of her skates slowly glided on the smooth floor against her will. Alice glided around the floor dragging her mate along with her, the smile widening on her lips as she watched Leah stare down at her feet watching her skates move with amazement.
Alice was slow and gentle as she released her hold on Leah's arms watching as the girl put one foot in front of the other pushing herself with gentle movements and not even realizing that she was skating on her own. "Leah you're skating! you're doing it!" Alice clapped her hands from excitement and Leah glanced up her own smile growing "see it's easy".
✰✰✰
~Sometimes you picture me I'm walking too far ahead, you're calling to me I can't hear what you've said, then you say "go slow" and I fall behind, the second hand unwinds.~
Alice and Leah were lost in their own words as they slow danced to the Cyndi Lauper song playing in the arena, all the nerves they had felt earlier that day were gone, they were completely relaxed in each other's presence.
~If you're lost you can look and you will find me, time after time, if you fall I will catch you, I'll be waiting, time after time, if you're lost, you can look and you will find me, time after time, if you fall, I will catch you, I will be waiting, time after time.~
Leah had never felt so calm on a date before but as Alice freely circled around her she realized what she had been missing, she never thought she could date a vampire, let alone be mated to one for life but as she danced with Alice, she found herself perfectly fine with the idea. Leah was falling for the pixie, and she was falling hard, harder than anyone she had ever fallen for, and normally the thought would have scared her but she couldn't bring herself to worry all she could do was smile and laugh.
~After my picture fades and darkness had turned gray, watching through the windows you're wondering if I'm okay, secrets stolen from deep inside (deep inside), and the drum beats out of time.~
Alice was in her happy place: That was the only way she could describe how she was feeling, she was in a place that reminded her of her good memories and gave her even more, and she was with her mate, she was in her happy place.
~If you're lost you can look and you will find me, time after time, if you fall I will catch you, I'll be waiting, time after time, if you're lost, you can look and you will find me, time after time, if you fall, I will catch you, I will be waiting, time after time, time after time.~
✰✰✰
Leah and Alice's laughs and cackles were loud as they joked and tripped around in their skates receiving odd looks from the other people but they couldn't bring themselves to care, "oh Leah watch-" Alice's words were cut off as Leah toppled to the ground taking Alice with her, and the two immediately broke into giggles. "Maybe we should go sit down, I think we're becoming a hazard to the other skaters" Alice suggested making Leah snicker "I think I was a hazard, to begin with".
"It's been so long since I've been to one of these" Alice spoke when Leah sat back down in the booth with her drink and cheap pizza, "this one time we were at a skating rink in LA, and Addison ordered this drink called a suicide and it was just all the fountain drinks mixed together, I mean, of course, it tasted like dirt but Addison was happy to experience something human-like". Alice was lost in her nostalgia, her voice barely audible over the loud music, "did you guys come to these places often?"
"We lived in LA for a year in the 80s and they had this rollerskating rink and it was just... amazing! I mean the music, the lights, the people, it was all just amazing", Alice's voice began to grow louder and louder with excitement. "Addison, Rose, and I would get all dolled up and go skating and of course, Jasper and Emmett would tag along, and sometimes if we were really lucky we could get Edward and Mom and Dad to join us. It was one of the best years of my life".
Alice was so lost in her memories, her golden eyes sparkling as she contuined speaking "Addison loved- well loves trying different human things, so she'd order drinks, she was always too scared to try the food but she loved trying the drinks. She really really loved the blue raspberry and grape slushy, she claimed it didn't taste like dirt and we all believed her because the light in her eyes was so bright, and she was just so... human".
✰✰✰
Leah nodded swallowing the bite of greasy pizza, "you two haven't really had many human experiences... Addison told me about your guys... horrible past..." Alice shrugged placing her chin in the palm of her hand as she leaned forward, "it's okay to talk about, the asylum doesn't bother me anymore, besides it was stupid of me to want to re-research the past all it did was hurt, my sister... It's like Addison always says just keep moving forward, nothing good comes from remembering all the bad times in the past, besides our lives are better now"...
"We just like experiencing new things from time to time, it keeps things interesting and makes us feel human". Leah gave the vampire a small smile understanding where she was coming from, being a vampire for centuries and living the same life over and over would eventually get boring to anyone, but trying new things and having a semi-normal human experience would keep things interesting. "So, Ms. Cullen what was your favorite experience?"
"Santa Carla the murder capital of the world... well it's more the vampire capital but the humans don't know that, it sounds dark but it was another good year". Alice's smile was small but at least it came back as she talked about another good experience, "the boardwalk had this big carnival and Addison and I had never been to one so we took a trip and decided to spend the entire night there, we rode all the rides, played all the games, and we tried cotton candy which tasted kinda like cotton but for once it was like we were a normal human family, it was... amazing"...
"I- I'm having a lot of fun with you Lee" Alice spoke her voice once again a barely audible whisper but her mate heard her loud and clear, "it's another good human experience"...
