"Nah nigga gimme my lighter back" shy snatched his lighter from Meechie who looked at him some type of way
"Now you got some nerve. Ol light skinned bitch"
"I ain lyin" I agreed with Meechie "how many lighters you stole from us?"
"Ion steal. Y'all give em to me and don't ask for em back" shy said as he put the lighter in his pocket and I shook my head
"So must've not told Kay bout you going to see lani yet" Meechie said to me and I shook my head

Benji walked out of the bathroom while I sat in the bed, skipping through episodes of my wife and kids on Hulu
"Tell me why I'm up cleaning the upstairs bathroom while you was outside with shy and Meechie and I hear noise coming from Hendrix room. I go in there to see what it was, your son was up watching damn YouTube on his tablet"
"That's why I take that tablet out his room at night. That lil boy slick as hell"
"I realized that tonight"
He got in the bed and I moved over near him, laying my head on him
"So, I talked to lani yesterday" he randomly blurted out and I lifted my head up, looking at him
"You did what?"
"I talked to lani"
"And where did you see her to talk to her?"
"Her house"
I twisted my lips to the side and benji grabbed my hand but I snatched it away
"No. What was so important for you to talk to her for?"
"Kay y'all gone have to talk it out at some point"
" no we don't! It is what it is at this point. She made her decision so she can stay over there. And you the one that told me to stop giving people second chances so how you going to talk to her?"
"I had to sit back and think bout that shit and when I did, I felt like I needed to see what the hell was goin on. I ain tell you to give her a second chance. Shit I won't blame you if you don't. But I just think y'all need to talk to just get everything off y'all chest. That's the least both of y'all can do cause y'all been close for too long to just end shit like that without getting y'all feelings out"

"Kay, I was 14 when my brother died at 16. Me, him and Kyran was close as hell. Closer than we was with my older brother cause he was already in and outta jail since he was young. But I remember a week before he got in that car accident we got into it and you know me, if I say ion got shit to say to you then I ain got shit to say forreal. I ain talk to my brother at all even though we lived in the same house and my momma kept tellin us we need to talk cause you never know. And now look. My boy died thinking I ain care about him. I let out a dramatic sigh and he grabbed my hand, pulling me back down to lay on him
"Kay you know I love you and ima forever look out for you. I'm just tryina help you out"

"do I need to go back to two years ago when you was sneaking of to a therapist just for her to tell you, you needed closure"
I rolled my eyes and he held a cocky look

"You might be right but still, I need time"
"I ain rushing you. Just think about it. That's all ima say and from this point forward I'm out of it"
"Yeah whatever" I grabbed his hand, looking at it "in 2 days we'll be married for two years"

I hit him in his chest and he laughed

"Chill I'm just playing" he wrapped him arm around me "you know these been the best two years of my life" he said as he kissed my forehead and I side eyed him
"What about the other three before the whole wedding thing?"

I started to move off of him but he laughed and pulled me back down
