Jinora took her seat next to Kai as Opal, Bolin, Mako and Wu watched Asami follow Korra out the lunchroom. Kuvira didn't know what was going on but she didn't like the look on Korra's face or how nervous Asami got hearing Korra's voice.
"Did they get in a argument?" Opal questioned earning shrugs and Mako said "they haven't spoken to each other all day"
Jinora was the only one that knows what's going on "don't worry about it, they're practically best friends" she said trying to wave it off. Kai had a feeling Jinora knew something, mostly because Korra's not the 'best friend' type.
Kuvira's eyes never left the direction Asami left, so Opal spoke up "You okay okay sis?"
"Yeah, I just have a weird feeling" Kuvira said looking down at her food that she wasn't even going to eat then back up the the lunchroom entrance. Wu and Mako's eyes met "she's jealous" they both said in sync
"Am not!"
"Please she's not even officially your girlfriend and you keep looking at the door like a puppy waiting for their owner to return" Wu pointed out earning a glare from the earth bender

Asami followed Korra away from the group, once they came to a complete stop Korra turned to face Asami who couldn't look into her blue eyes.
"Asami, can you look at me?" Korra's voice was smoother than normal, it was gentle. Asami hesitated then she looked down at the sapphire eyes covered in worry "what's going on with you?" Asami watched as Korra's tan lips moved over ever word she spoke, it was like she was being hypnotized.
Korra noticed how distracted Asami was, her heart fluttered seeing the way Asami looked at her, but she couldn't let it go the way she wants, "Is this about yesterday?" Korra said waking the girl up from her daze making her green eyes meet Korra's. "Look I get it, you're with Kuvira and want nothing more but a friendship with me and...I'm perfectly fine with that" Korra said holding a smile
Asami felt as if Korra took the words right out of her mouth but the last part kind of hurt. She looked at the smiling girl and couldn't help but smile herself. "I just don't want anything to be weird between us" Asami admitted "you're my best friend and I don't want that stupid kiss to ruin that"
"Hey, it's not ruining anything, we were having fun and it was... in the moment" Korra said a as she rubbed the back of her neck
"Exactly you understand it" Asami nervously chuckle "and I'm actually not with Kuvira, well not officially"
"Noted" Korra smirked
"W-what?!"
"I'm just fucking with you Sami" Korra laughed making Asami chuckle but realized she earned a new nickname.
"Aw you called me Sami" Asami smiled with a fake pout
"Do you want me to continue calling you Turbo?" Korra threatened
"No no, I like Sami better"
"Good, so Sami, are you going to tell me why on this super hot day you're wearing a hoodie and pants" Korra questioned
"....No reason" Asami smiled but Korra can tell she was hiding something but before she can continue questioning it her phone rang
Korra looked at the caller ID then looked back up at Asami "I got to take this but I'll see you in gym class" they said their goodbyes and Korra walked away putting the phone to her ear while Asami went back to her friends.
"What's up?" Korra said into the phone
"Korra I think I figured it out, I know how to unlock the Avatar state" Zaheer spoke in the other line "come straight home after school"
"Yessir" she hung up then walked away towards the gym to meet couch Bumi "hey uncle B"
"Korra!" He smiled at the tan girl who always came early to his class
"How's everything?" She asked as she placed her bag on the bench.
"Good, my new nephew is due next week" he smiled "We're going to do a small gathering to meet the baby, and I was wondering if you want to show up, I mean I know you have some classes with Jinora and Pema already claimed you as her child" he laughed and Korra said that she'll think about it making her way to the locker room
Minutes later kids started to make their way into the locker but Korra was already dressed and out on the bleachers waiting for Bumi to start the class. She saw Asami and Kuvira come out the locker room laughing but she noticed Asami didn't change her clothes, then right when Asami brushed her hair behind her ear her sleeve fell just a bit but enough for Korra to see her bruised wrist. Korra's protective state came in out of no where, she didn't even realize how protective she was of Asami till now.
Korra walked up to Asami taking her hand not trying to grab her wrist and pulled her straight to the locker room. "Hey what are you doing?" Asami questioned but Korra gently pushed her against the wall with both her hands on each side of Asami trapping her "Korra what the hell?!"
"Who did it?" Korra asked with a growl in her voice. Asami noticed how much anger filled Korra's eyes "who did what?" Asami didn't know what she was talking about
"I'm not stupid, take off your hoodie" Korra said making the girl's eyes widen. Asami didn't move and Korra was impatient she lifted Asami's sleeve not only finding a bruised wrist but another bruise on her forearm. "Korra stop!" Asami pushed Korra off of her and pulled her sleeve down.
"What's going on in here?" Kuvira said coming inside the room ready to attack Korra if she had to. Asami could feel the tension between the two "nothing just leave" Asami spoke in a calm voice
"But-"
"She told you to leave" Korra interrupted Kuvira. The earth bender was not having it, she grabbed Korra by the shirt pulling her a little up to make their eyes meet "calm down there, I'd play nice if I were you" Korra said with a smirk "I just so happen to be your crush's little bestie"
"Oh so now you claim to have friends?" Kuvira said through her clenched teeth
"Get your hands off me" Korra eyes looked like if she was ready to kill something
"Don't get anywhere near my girlfriend anymore I don't care if your her best friend"
"Girlfriend? Please if she was your girlfriend she wouldn't have kis-"
"Enough! Kuvira let her go and leave!" Asami demanded making Kuvira angry "fine" Kuvira grunted the pushed Korra against the wall and left.
Asami looked at Korra who was looking down at herself "what's your problem?!"
"What's yours?! Now you're hiding stuff from me?" Korra felt as if Asami betrayed her
"I'm not hiding anything from you!" Asami claimed
The buzzer went off which meant everyone was supposed to be out the locker room and on the court. Korra put her hands in her pockets of her basketball shorts and started to walk out "I know what it's like to live in a hoodie and pants during a hot day, I have Kuvira and her little buddies to thank for that" Korra finally said and officially left Asami alone in the locker room.
Asami was left there in her thoughts. How can Korra almost tell Kuvira about the kiss? Why would Korra say such things?
Asami walked out the locker room joining the class as Bumi said their plan for today "alright class, basketball starts today" he announced then explained the rules once he did he picked the teams based on athleticism "there'll be 4 teams five, first two teams play" he said then took out his list "Korra you're on team 1, Kuvira on team 2, Mako 1, Iroh 2, Asami 1, Jinora 2, Kai 1, Tahno 2, Opal 1, Bolin 2" he said and the kids divided "Korra and Kuvira of course are the team captains, you may choose where each player plays"
Korra looked at her group "we're going to play man to man defense, on offense.." she pointed at Mako "Center" then at Kai "shooting guard" then at Opal "small forward" then at Asami "power forward" then at herself "Point guard...any questions?"
"Yeah what's a small forward?" Opal shyly raised her hand then Asami joined in "yeah I don't know what a power forward is"
Korra was mentally screaming but help her team "The small forward plays against small and large players. They roam all over on the court. Small forwards can score from long shots and close ones." She explained and Opal nodded "The power forward does many of the things a center does, playing near the basket while rebounding and defending taller players. But power forwards also take longer shots than centers....we good now?" Korra innocently smiled earning yeses
Bumi then blew the whistle for the tip off, Tahno and Mako were going for the ball once it was in the air, Mako managed to tap the ball having it go to Kai. He took the ball on the other side of the court then passed it to his point guard, Korra was easily able to get a layup giving her team 2 points. "Let's go set up for man to man defense!" She called going across court
"I got Bolin" Kai called
"I got Iroh" Mako called
"I have Jinora" Opal claimed
"I guess I have Tahno" Asami said since she new Kuvira and Korra were athletically matched
Bolin passed in the ball to his point guard, Kuvira, she dribbled in then passed it to Iroh who went for a dunk but blocked by Mako "not today buddy!" He yelled as he smacked the ball having it land in Opal's hands but Jinora stole the ball taking a shot making it in "oh my spirits babe did you see that?! I made it!" Jinora cheered
"I'm proud of you...but we're on opposite teams so.." he gave her a evil grin "that'll be the last shot you'll make"
"It's on" she smirked
Kai passed the ball in to Korra and ran to his spot. Korra looked for a open spot or someone to pass to, the only open person was Asami but Korra had to think about it 'I can't over work her, especially with that hoodie on, she'll pass out'
Opal ran towards the basket and Korra bounced pass it to her so she can do a layup but Iroh jumped at the same time as Opal to block the shot. "Bring it back!" Korra shouted and Opal threw it back to Korra who with 1 hand passed it to Mako in the speed of light that Kuvira didn't have a chance to steal it
"What the.?" Kuvira was shocked 'she practically smacked the ball to him' she thought but she wasn't going to lose this game.
Mako took that shot behind the three point line making it in "that's my man!" Wu shouted in the bleachers
Asami noticed how Korra didn't pass her the ball even when she open. For now she was going to ignore it and focus on defense, she was put together with Tahno who was an inch or 2 taller than her. Asami kept a small distance from him making it seem as if he was open and Kuvira took the bait. Kuvira passed the ball to Tahno but Asami being tall and all extended her arm and stole the ball before it even touched Tahno. She passed it to Korra who again with 1 hand passed it to Kai who was already on the other side of the court.
Asami noticed the trick 'she's guiding the pass to make a better play' Asami smirked now that she got Korra's trick down.
Kai went for the shot but Jinora came crashing in jumping to his height and tapped the ball just a bit to miss guide it and not make it in. Bumi blew the whistle "2 free throws for Kai!" He shouted
"What?! I didn't touch him!" Jinora claimed
"I saw you airbend to get yourself higher" Bumi said crossing his arms and Kai laughed at his competitive girlfriend. "Line up for the throws"
On Kai's left was Tahno, Mako, and Bolin, to his right was Iroh, Asami, and Kuvira. Korra, Opal and Jinora were outside the three point line ready for the a attack. Bumi passed in the to Kai, he made in the first shot and Bumi looked at the teams "on the release" he said, which meant once the ball was off Kai's hand everyone can move from their spots to get the rebound.
Kai took a breath and shot the ball missing it, Iroh managed to get the rebound and passed it to Kuvira but out of no where Korra popped out in front of Kuvira and did one of her weird passes to Opal who easily made a layup. The score was now 8-2.
The game continued on and Kuvira was not going down without a fight. The score was now 15-12 with Korra's team still winning "come on 2 minutes left in the clock" Bumi called seeing the teens work their ass off
Korra had the ball and again Asami was the only open person "come on Kor, I'm getting bored here" Asami said trying to get Korra to pass the ball to her, the tan girl finally complied passing it to Asami but right when Asami had the ball she shot it without a second thought making it in with nothing but net.
Everyone was left impressed, Korra had to start using Asami more since her other members were tired, she was just hoping the worse wouldn't happen.
Iroh made in a three pointer making the score 17-15. Kai passed in the ball to Korra who drive passed Kuvira then passed it to Asami who took another shot making it in again with nothing but net.
The minute and a half was Korra and Asami vs Kuvira's whole team. Mako stole the ball and passed to Korra who was at half court. Right when the ball was coming for her Kuvira and Iroh were coming at her. Everything moved in slow motion for Korra as her eyes moved around looking for a where to drive or who to pass it to. She then noticed Asami racing Tahno down to the basket. Korra went for it, once the ball touched her hand it left within a second speeding towards Asami. The green eyed girl got her hands on the ball and faked a shot making Tahno jump early, once he was falling Asami was making her way up towards the net slamming the ball down the basket as the buzzer went off, and there she was holding onto the rim hanging, she then released the rim landing on her feet.
Asami looked at her hand, it was red from Korra's powerful passes, it had a stinging feel to it to and she liked the feeling as she clenched her fist. Sweat was coming her face and the pants were not helping her case. Out off no where Opal came in tackling her "where did you learn to do that!!!?" Opal shouted as they hit the ground and the team surrounded them.
"yeah who knew you actually knew how to play, how were you able to pull that off" Kai said helping up Opal and Asami took Mako's offered hand to lift her up "let's just say you learn a thing or two when your backyard is a courtyard and you have a lot of extra time" Asami said with a chuckle
Korra watched her team celebrate Asami's trick, she looked at the score board 32-21. Asami made almost half the points, Korra was just worried that she over worked Asami.
Bumi blew the whistle "team 1 advances and plays the winner of round 2, team 3 vs team 4. Wu and Sasha are team captains." Bumi announced.
Kuvira took a seat next to Asami with a smile "ever thought about joining the girl's basketball team?" She asked the taller girl. Asami giggled "no, besides I have work"
"Oh come on, I'm sure your dad can work something out, besides principal Beifong is the coach which means we get away with more games and leaving class early for practice" Kuvira tried convincing the girl.
"I don't know, I'll think about it" Asami said with a shrug knowing her father wouldn't want that
Wu's team won 18-7, both teams were great at defense "alright both losers play, Kuvira's team Vs Sasha's, winner plays for the title of best team against the winners of round 4" Bumi claimed as the 2 victors rested
Kuvira's team destroyed team 4 with the score of 29-14 next was Korra vs Wu. Korra made sure not to use Asami as much as she did vs Kuvira. Asami wasn't happy but Korra was right, Asami already felt like passing out. Korra's team won 35-27. Which meant Kuvira and Korra are getting their rematch.
"Final game, Team 1 vs 2. Winners are declared overall victors" Bumi blew the whistle readying the tip off with Mako Vs Iroh. Iroh won the ball for his team, Jinora had it in her hands then passed it to Bolin who passed it straight to Kuvira who headed for the basket for a layup but Korra came in smacking the ball out of Kuvira's hands passing it to Opal.
Opal passed it to Kai, Bolin was chasing after him but Mako set up a screen stoping the male earth bender, Kai went straight to the basket but Tahno took the ball right out of his hands, it was a battle for the first basket. Mako managed to steal the ball and pass it to Korra who was under the basket and again everything went slow motion. She couldn't make the shot due to having Kuvira on top of her, She then noticed Asami behind the three point line and right when the ball touched Korra's hand it left rocketing towards Asami who caught the pass and shot it making in 3 points.
The game continued with only 30 seconds on the clock the scores was 38-38. Kuvira was dribbling the ball heading towards to the basket. Korra was chasing behind her but it was too late, Kuvira made in the basket making the score 38-40.
"I'm not losing this game" Kuvira said bumping shoulders with Korra as she went to play defense.
"Kai, I'll pass it in" Korra said and Kai complied. She looked at the clock, only 5 seconds left then noticed everyone was still running to defense and an opening "game's not over yet!!" Korra shouted and with all her force she threw the ball with the speed of light across court to Asami's hands and she easily took a layup making to the game end in a tie. All the students cheered and Kuvira wasn't happy with Korra.
Bumi blew the whistle "40-40, over-time! 2 minutes on the clock!" He announced and it was a back and forth battle, every point Korra's team made Kuvira team made. Score was 46-48 with only 10 seconds left, Kai had just stole the ball from Bolin and went dribbling down the court passing it to his point guard who now faced Kuvira on the other side
"Go ahead and make your pass, thats all you're good for" Kuvira chuckled but only earned a smirk. Korra faked a pass to the left making Kuvira react but little did the earth bender know Korra was baiting her even more. Korra then made it look like she was going drive to the right and Kuvira, still recovering from the fake pass, tripped trying to catch up. Kuvira almost had a finger on the ball until Korra pivot counterclockwise all the way until she face the basket again then shot the ball.
"If I actually did more than passing, you wouldn't have had a chance" Korra said looking down at Kuvira, who's ass was on the floor, the only sound that covered the room was the swish of Korra's 3 point shot and the buzzer followed right behind.
"That's game! 49-48, team 1 are victorious" Bumi said then went over some final things then dismissed the class to change. He then noticed Asami was about to follow her friends to the locker room but stopped her "miss Sato, a word" he said having the girl make her way to him. "Yessir?"
"Basketball season is about to start and I really think Coach Beifong would like you on the team" He was ready to settle a deal if he had to
"Sounds fun but... it's not for me" She shrugged
"Are you serious?! You made all your shots and I barely see girls your height, which is a huge advantage. Your team in total had 106 points and you made in most of the points, I kept track on paper!" He laughed then showed Asami the said paper.

Asami was surprised with the numbers, especially with Korra's, she put in most of the work yet made little. Now that Asami thought about it, Korra only made layups when no one could make a play, it's not like Korra sucked at shooting, she did make a 3 pointer at the end, so it had to be something else.
"Look, if we were to have you and Kuvira on the team we would be better" Bumi said with a cheesy smile. "Please say yes" he said almost having a pout, before Asami could say anything she noticed Korra sitting on the bench still not changed, she knew Korra waited till every girl was out before she changed. "I'll think about it" Asami smiled at the man then left towards Korra.
"Come on" Asami said dragging her best friend to the locker room by the wrist. "Sami what are you doing?" Korra questioned but didn't hear an answer.
"I'm making you learn how to change in the locker room so you're not always late to class, I want you to go on that trip with me" Asami said rolling her eyes "and you won't come with me if you're always late" Asami complained
"Ugh but I don't wanna" Korra whined like a 3 year old. Asami ignored the whining and continued dragging Korra passing through the girls towards the the back where the girls never be at, since most of them are in the bathroom part or in the front. "There, see? no girl here, thank me later" Asami joked "now change, you're all sweaty and nasty"
"Fine, but turn around" Korra said making Asami listen. Once Korra saw the back of the girl she felt comfortable to change. She started with her shorts then moved to her shirt which she had to dig through her bag for. "I hope you're not insecure with your body" Asami said out of no where making a Korra chuckle "why you say that?" The tan girl asked as she continued searching her bag.
"Well have you seen your body? It's toned and perfect" Asami turned around only to find Korra slipping on her shirt and swore she saw what seemed like a tattoo on the back of her shoulder, she quickly turned back around as Korra spoke "I don't know about perfect, definitely not that...you can turn back around" Korra's voice moved through Asami's ears
Asami turned around and found Korra holding a light blue long sleeve shirt, "here, that hoodie's too thick and I bet you want to get out of it" the bender offered the shirt to Asami. "Thanks" Asami said taking the shirt from Korra's hand.
Korra leaned on her side on the lockers with her back facing Asami. The raven haired kept an eye on Korra as she removed her hoodie then noticed her red marks on her arms were now purple. She then removed her T-shirt feeling the cool air hit her skin making her release a breath of relief.
"I hope I didn't over work you" Korra said quietly "or hurt you with my passes"
"Korra I'm fine, I had fun and the adrenaline rush was the cherry on top" Asami giggled grabbing her bag to put the clothes away
"Asami?" Kuvira's voice was heard making Asami covered herself with her hoodie that she was going to put away and Korra block Kuvira from seeing Asami "the fuck is your problem?" Kuvira spat.
"She's changing, give her some privacy" Korra crossed her arms
"Hey I'm just looking for her, her friends are waiting on her" The earth bender claimed
"I'll be out in a second, I'll meet you over there" Asami said quickly shoving her hoodie and T-shirt in her bag
"You sure? I can stay with you instead" Kuvira said still trying to look over to Asami to see if she's okay
"Calm down perv, she said she'll meet you outside" Korra said putting her hand on the earth bender's arm who tried walking towards Asami. "Don't touch me!" Kuvira got mad pushing Korra who, out of reaction, shoved Kuvira against the side of the row of lockers so she couldn't see Asami but Korra caught a glimpse of Asami's bruised back and arms on the corner of her eye as Asami quickly slid in the long-sleeve shirt
"Enough!" Jinora shouted pulling Korra off of Kuvira and Opal checked if Kuvira was hurt "what the hell is going on?!" Opal asked looking between both girls until Asami reached their sight "you okay?" Jinora asked the taller girl
"I'm fine, I just need to talk to these two, I'll be out before the bell rings" Asami said having Jinora and Opal nod her head and leave. Asami walked up to the two taking Korra and Kuvira by the shirt pushing them against the locker "that's it! I had it with you two! I'm tired of you two fighting every 2 seconds!"
Korra and Kuvira looked at each other and then back at Asami "wether you two like it or not, you will be buddy buddy or I'm dropping both of you, got it?!"
"Yes ma'am" Korra and Kuvira said in sync. Both Korra and Kuvira found something in common now, they were both scared of this angry version of Asami
"Good, now let's go, I'm not being late to class for stupid shit like this" Asami said releasing their shirts and started walking out.
Turns out Opal and Jinora were in the front of the locker room hearing everything. They saw Asami walk out with both girls following behind her with their heads down. Jinora and Opal looked at each other then shrugged following behind.
They met up with Mako and Wu and started heading to their classes. Ironically Asami, Kuvira and Korra had art class together. Asami decided to change up their seating since the art teacher didn't care who sat where. Asami had Korra and Kuvira sit next to each other and Asami sat in front of them.
"This is stupid" kuvira said under her breath annoyed by the seating arrangements
"I'm sorry I didn't hear that, what did you say" Asami said giving Kuvira the death glare
"N-nothing" the earth bender stuttered taking out her sketchbook
Korra chuckled to herself seeing how scared Kuvira got "what's so funny?" She earned the same look from Asami
"Nothing..." Korra smiled then thought it would be fun to fuck with Kuvira "I just like how my shirt looks on you" Korra said with a smirk as she noticed Kuvira break the tip of her pencil led.
Asami blushed but noticed what Korra was doing. She thanked her and let it go for now. The three continued sketching. "I'll be right back" Asami said walking away
"Alright what's your deal?" Kuvira asked the tan girl who didn't say a word "hello? Don't act like you can't talk"
"don't say another word to me" Korra plugged in her headphones listening to her music loud and focused on her drawing.
Kuvira took one of the girl's headphones off letting it hang earning herself a glare "can we start over?" The earth bender asked then offered her hand "i'm Kuvira"
"And I can care less" Korra said "I'm not going to be buddy buddy with an asshole like you" she said looking down at her book
"Korra I'm so-"
"I don't want to hear an apology, it's not like you mean it" Korra said putting back her headphone
Kuvira took it off again "when did you start acting tuff?"
"When I got sick of your shit, now leave me the fuck alone" Korra growled then got up moving to the back of the class to her old seat.
—Kuvira's pov—
She left me alone at the table. I know the things I did to her were wrong and I never got around to apologized to her.
Did I use to have a thing for her? Yes. Did she reject me? Yup. Was I hurt? Very much. She made me feel stupid, embarrassed, my friends would make fun of me for not only liking her but being rejected by her too, so I messed with her so they would stop picking on me. But it always looked like she let us, she never tried fighting us off, but this year she's actually fighting back for once.
It's my fault she's like this, she's always on defense mode now. I caused her so much pain because of how selfish I was. So I understand why she won't believe me if I apologized, she'll think it's because of Asami, but it's not, my timing is just so bad. Even if, I still messed with her with words, I don't know why I do the things I do. I don't even make sense...
"What did you do now?" I heard Asami's voice and saw her take her seat i front of me. I told her "I was just trying to make conversation, she didn't want to hear me"...see what I mean, I sound like an asshole when I try not to, it just sounded like I threw Korra under the bus
"Well... did you say something wrong?" She asked me but I shrugged
"Can we change the subjected" I looked in her eyes "so, do you work today?"
"As always" she sighed out

Moments later Asami joined Korra and they were listening to music together continuing their art piece.
"I-I saw your bruises" Korra spoke quietly gaining Asami's attention "I didn't mean to, it's just...it was either me or Kuvira, I'm sorry"
Asami placed her hand over Korra's making her blue eyes look into her green ones "I just want to know Asami" her blue eyes were filled with water trying to hold back a tear "who?"
Asami didn't say anything, she couldn't, she just rested her head on Korra's shoulder and stayed there as their fingers intertwined.
They stayed quiet till the end of class. Once the bell rang, Asami got off Korra and started packing her stuff. Mean while Korra stayed in the same position thinking. Asami put her bag on then placed a hand on Korra's shoulder then slid it off walking away as Kuvira joined her.
Korra still didn't move until her phone rang, and Korra picked up without looking at the caller ID. "Hello"
"Don't get side tracked" she heard her father's voice on the other side of the phone "you need to come home so we can unlock the Avatar state"
"Yessir"
