No one's POV
The storm was still raging and the freezing wind blew into the cave but the occupants inside the cave were unfazed. The children soundly sleeping knowing they were safely secured in the warm gentle embrace of the giant wolf. However, there was something that made Summer wake up from her peaceful slumber.
Summer's POV
Summer was quietly sleeping thinking of the children that are now under her care but, then she felt the presence of something that sent shivers down her spine.
She opened her eyes and slowly raised her head up as to not disturb the children. She looked around but, couldn't see anything even with her superior eyes she couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.
Summer's mind: "Must be my mind playing tricks on me."
She went to lie back down but, a foul stench filled her nose. She sniffed the air to find the source and it lead back to the entrance to the cave. Unlike last time when she looked, she saw something coming towards her. The creature had the same outline as the children and, the closer it got the stronger the scent got.
Summer's mind: "What is that thing?"
It then stepped out of the cover of night and into the cave revealing its horrifying self. The creature almost looked human. But its skin was white as snow. Its body was very muscular with large hands and feet supporting long and razor-sharp claws and talons on each finger and toe. Its face looked like a normal human but, its ears were flat against its head and appeared to have no nose, its eyes were blood red, and the creature had no lip which easily revealed its dagger-like teeth. The creature was none other than an alpha ghoul.
The creature walked a few feet into the cave and stopped and stared at Summer. Summer never took her eyes off the creature in fear of it attacking her and the children but, it did something she never expected.
Instead of attacking the creature pointed one of its clawed fingers towards her direction. She first thought the creature was pointing at her but, she quickly realized that it was pointing towards the children.
Once she realized this she tightened her hold on the children and let off a low growl bearing her teeth at the creature.
Summer: "If you want these kids you demon then you will have to deal with my wrath first." She said growling angrily
The creature then lowered its finger and, made a sound that sounded like it was laughing at her. It started to back out of the cave while still making the laughing noise. The creature slowly disappeared into the night until it had completely vanished.
Summer then didn't stop starring at the cave entrance for a while until she was sure the creature was gone. She then looked back at the children and gave a worried look due to her now knowing that thing would be hunting these kids until it got to them. Summer knew that she had to bring them to her pack for their safety.
Summer: "Don't worry my little pups I will see that you are protected and loved I swear this upon my life." She said sternly.
Just then William slowly stirred awake.
William: "Summer what is going on?" He said tiredly.
Summer: "Nothing to worry about William go back to sleep." She said with a warm smile.
William: "Ok, O Summer one last thing." He said looking up at her.
Summer: "What is it little one?"
William: "I'm glad we're friends." He said with a small smile.
Summer gave him a warm smile then nuzzled him with her snout causing him to giggle. After a second she retracted her head and looking down at the boy she said.
Summer: "Me too little one me too."
William then drifted off back to sleep. Summer laid her head back down and allowed herself to fall victim to sleep.
Time skip
No one's POV
The morning sun shined warmly through the trees and the ground glistened from the morning dew and leftover rain. The storm clouds had finally passed leaving behind only bright blue skies. The air was filled with the sweet songs of birds and other forest creatures who are happy to be able to leave their homes at last.
Susan was the first to wake up from the group. She looked around confused about where she was since she could only see white and silver. But then she quickly remembered that she was still in the gentle embrace of Summer.
Susan's POV
Susan's mind: "Summer's fur was so soft and warm I felt like I could stay here forever. But it was time to start the day."
Susan crawled out of Summer's hold she then made her way to the wolf's head. Once she was there she leaned down and whispered into her ear.
Susan: "( whisper) Summer time to get up." She said while chuckling.
Summer: "Mmm not yet just a little longer." She said as she turned her head away from Susan.
Susan then tried to think of a way she could wake Summer. Just then the perfect solution popped into her head. The young girl smirked evilly as she walked around to Summer's back. Then the little girl launched a devastating tickle attack on the giant wolf.
Susan tickled right between Summer's shoulder blades. And unfortunately, Summer couldn't help but burst into laughter which intern made her wake the rest of the kids up. The remaining three woke up to the sound of Summer laughing. Summer then released them from her grasp to which they stood back and couldn't stop smiling as they looked at a giant predator laughing like a little kid.
Summer: "(Laughing) O-o-o-ok please s-s-stop I c-c-can't take m-much more." She said while laughing.
Susan stopped her vicious attack and innocently walked around to the front of the wolf. Summer finally stopped laughing only to look down to see a smirking Susan. Summer then sat up while whipping away her tears from the girl's attack.
Summer: "So that's the way you want to play is it". She said while smiling widely.
She then turned over on her stomach and started to reach for the girl but, Susan wasn't going to let her catch her that easily. Susan started to run away. Summer then turned her attention to the remaining children giving them the same look. She watched as they started to back away slowly while smiling then without warning they took off running except for Max. He went back to their fire pit and started to cook breakfast.
William tried to run around her only to be scooped up and then mercilessly tickled by her snout as she nuzzled his stomach. He couldn't stop laughing as he tried to call his siblings for help.
William: "(Laughing) Hahahaha p-please s-someone help me haha." He could barely speak due to his laughing.
Summer stopped only to look at the boy that was trapped within her grasp with a warm smile.
Summer: "No one can save you from me little one." She said as she then resumed her tickling.
Susan: Hey big bad wolf over here!!!
Summer glanced over to see Susan and Rachel were standing on top of a rock. She then gently placed William on the ground upon which he immediately took off. She then got on all fours and slowly walked towards the girls with a massive grin on her face.
The girls squealed as they slide behind the rock hoping to escape the wolf that was hunting them. They sat behind the rock constantly giggling even though they were trying to stay quiet. They didn't hear her anymore so she decided to peek out of their spot. When they did, they didn't see Summer so the girls decided to try to sneak out. However, when they stepped out both of them were snatched up by a pair of fur-covered hands.
Summer: "Got you." She said while grinning evilly.
Susan: "No please have mercy."
Rachel: "Please spare us miss wolf." She said still giggling.
Summer: "Mercy but I don't recall you showing me such kindness. Now face the consequences of your actions."
Susan: "Nooo." She screamed as she smiled.
With that Summer sat down while still holding the girls in her arms. And then she tickled the girl's stomach. Susan and Rachel couldn't stop laughing as Summer showed her the same mercy she gave her.
However, Summer didn't see William sneaking up behind her. The young boy carefully snuck to her and without warning. He ran in front of her and dove right against her stomach.
William: We got you now wolf. He said while giggling.
Summer seeing this decided to play along with this laid down on her back and, quickly felt William crawl up her until he was beside his sisters. Now Summer was looking at three little smiling faces laying on top of her.
Summer: "Yes you did."
Then she brought her arms up and hugged the children to her chest.
Summer: "Now I have you. She said with a smile."
As Summer continued to play with William, Susan, and Rachel. Over on the other side of the cave, Max had started a fire and were cooking breakfast as they watched their siblings and the wolf playing with each other.
Max looked over at Summer with a big smile on his face. He was very happy to have met Summer especially given the circumstances they were in right now. And seeing her play with his siblings only made him forget about all the pain and sorrow he went through.
Then out of nowhere, a loud howl was heard throughout the entire forest. This caused Summer to put the kids back on the ground and walk to the entrance to the cave.
Max: "Summer what is it?" He said with a worried tone.
Then the howl came once again and Summer's ears perked up after hearing it.
Summer: "Max I'm going to go check it out take the others into that hiding spot form before ok"
Max: "Alright." He turned to walk into the cave but quickly turned back around. "Hey Summer."
Summer looked down at him.
Summer: "Yes Max."
Max: "Please be careful." He said with a worried tone and, with that, he ran into the cave to get his siblings into their spot at the back of the cave.
Summer: "Don't worry Max I will." She said with a smile. She then headed out to find the source of the howl.
She walked for a minute before she decided to try something. She tilted her head to the sky and let out a loud howl of her own that echoed throughout the forest. She waited a second before another howl was heard. This time she smiled due to her recognizing that howl. She quickly took off in the direction it came from.
She ran a little ways from the cave before she came to a small clearing. She waited a second before she heard someone was approaching from the other side of the clearing. She waited for a second and then the figure walked out into the open revealing himself. And when she saw him she couldn't help but run to him smiling.
Summer: "MASON!!!"
