i sighed as i watched the tv in herbo's room. he was just sitting there with his noise and attention placed deeply into his phone. he does this a lot. he'll text or call me, asking me to come over and spend time with him but, when i get here he doesn't give me attention.
i got up off the bed.
"where you going" he asked me
"the bathroom" i closed the bathroom door behind
i used the restroom and washed my hands after. i walked out the bathroom closing the door and turning off the light, i then walked out the room walking down the stairs and going into the kitchen.
i looked in the fridge deciding what i wanted to eat. i looked in the pantry grabbing the macaroni noodles and the cheese from the fridge. i went in the freezer grabbing chicken and collard greens.
i sighed prepping everything to start cooking. i went in the living room and turned on, and went to youtube to play music. i went back in the kitchen, and put the noodles in the boiling water.
- time skip -
i walked upstairs into herbo's room and heard the shower running and seen herbo wasn't in the room. i'm assuming he was in the shower. i noticed his phone going off.
peices of me wanted to be nosy and check it but, a small part in my heart wanted to trust him enough to not have to do something like it but, me being me chose to ignore.
i walked over to the bed lifting up the phone unlocking. he must've changed his password back because last time i wasn't able to get in his phone when he asked me too. i didn't know what i wanted to check first.
then, i seen a notification pop up at the top of his screen. without checking the notification, i pressed it. the contact wasn't saved but, it showed "maybe:taina" i opened the message seeing that they were having a conversation.
her last message to him read .
"i miss you baby, it was fun seeing you the other night"
soon after she followed with.
"we should hook up again soon"
what the fuck.
is this why everything with us has been off. i chuckled to myself before closing out the message seeing another one under it. the contact read "ari. " , this one was actually saved. i opened the message and they were also having a conversation but, before i got the chance to read it herbo walked out the bathroom.

"what is you doin" he said holdin up his towel
"is you goin through my phone" he got up snatching it from me
"fuck is you goin through my phone for" he looked at me
"who taina and ari" i questioned
"answer me first, whatchu doin in my phone yo" he said
"i came to tell you your food ready and next thing you know you got bitches blowin yo line up talkin bout hooking up and they miss you and shit"
"that ain't answerin my question why was you in my phone" he looked at me
"i'm not finna argue, eat whenever you want" i walked out the room
i mean i can see why he mad but, i should be mad who the fuck is taina and why the fuck is she texting him shit like that and when did he go hook up with her ass.
i tried not to think about the situation and grabbed one of the pre-made plates. i sat at the island table and picked at my food, occasionally eating small bites and pieces. i continued to stare at my plate when i felt a presence.
i heard the microwave close and peeked up seeing herbo leaning against the conuter looking at me.
"you wanna answer my question now" he looked at me
i didn't answer.
"huh" he said
"i don't wanna speak to you" i said still avoiding eye contact
"i just want my questioned answered" he stood up
"you don't trust me" he walked to the other side of the counter i was at
"mhm mh" i shrugged
"it's a yes or no question" he looked at me deeply
"i don't know" i eyed him
"why don't you know, i never gave you a reason not too, i cut everybody off for you, ion cheat nun of dat, so why the fuck not"
"don't start that shit with me, i walked away cuz i didn't wanna argue" i rolled my eyes
"and ian tryna argue, i wanna talk but, at the same time what the fuck i do to not earn yo trust"
"who's taina" i looked at him
"that's what this about" he chuckled
"your the only laughing" i mugged
"because you tryna be mad at a nigga ova a whole nother female"
"because you're tryna have me out here lookin dumb and ian for that but, ifyou don't wanna actually talk and take shit serious ion got shit to say to you" i got up ready to walk away
"no we gon sit here and talk because like i said ian do shit to noot earn yo trust" i pulled me to him
"i tried to tell you and you ain't wanna answer my question nor take me serious so, i'm done talking" i pushed him off me
"ian talk to her in a while, that's why i'm laughing. ian have no interaction with her inna minute" he said
"well it couldn't have been too fucking long for her to say she ready to link again and that shit miss you"
"she's my ex, ion want her"
"you say that like that makes shit better"
"i still don't see whatchu mad about" he said
"okay, whatever i give up" i said getting fustrated
he grabbed me by my waist picking me up, he sat me on the counter and stood between my legs.
"i get you mad and shit but, you finna stop tryna walk away from me. we is grown as fuck, you finna sit yo ass right here and explain this shit to me, and state yo damn case, cuz this walking away "i give up" shit ain't finna work, yo ass not goin no where til we figure this shit out, now talk" he told me
"i don't wanna talk no more" i told him
"and i don't give a fuck, we is grown adults in a relationship, we gon communicate and fix the problem. not put that shit online and argue like kids. ian giving up on you or us and neither is you, so like i said talk. if you need yo space after cool but, right now i needa hear why you mad"
"because i seen the messages, ya'll obviously had sum goin on recently for her to be talkin out linking and missing you. then who the fuck is ari. i'm not tryna be out here lookin stupid over no nigga"
"pause right there, ari is my baby mother first of all. so chill the fuck out, second did you veen see what me and taina was talkin about" he looked at me
i hesitated before shaking my head 'no'
he chuckled, pulling out his phone. he ulocked it handng it to me, he looked at me read the messages while eating his food.

i finished reading the messages and instantly felt bad, guilty, and dumb. i looked over at him and he looked at me with an "i told yo ass" look. i got up wrapping my arms around him.
"nah don't be all up on me now because if it was the other way around you'd be throwin a fit and shit" he said
"i know and i'm sorry, i was wrong, don't be mad please" i hugged him tight
"i'm not mad at you but, you needa start talkin more instead of assumin and i can't be mad cuz ian been givin you dat much attention and love as i should so, i'm sorry" he hugged me back
i held out my lips and kissed them.
"and i do trust you, i just didn't know because it seemed like the love was fading and ian want that. ian wanna lose you so, my mind just went to the worst"
"i know but, i wouldn't do that to you and i'm working on it but, you gotta gimme time and shit" he looked down at me
"okay, you got it and i'm sorry again"
"it's cool" he kissed my forehead
"can we watch a movie" i said drinking my juice
"mhm you pick" he walked into the living room with his food.
we found a movie and cuddled up and ate our food and just enjoyed each other the rest of the night.
