I started down the dark and dismal hallway, trying to remember how to get through here. It all seemed so much darker when I knew what I was coming through here for.
I was going to kill Mario.
He had eight levels of violence! If I ended his game, then I would surely have so much LOVE that 💧︎☟︎✌︎👎︎⚐︎⚐︎ would go away! Once she's gone, I can reset the timeline. It would be like none of this ever happened.
But you know that it did happen, and you will never forget.
I continued down the corridors, searching for the mirror hall. Mario was there last time, right? I remember the star that was calling the place Judgement Hall. Heh, now it's REALLY going to be a Judgement Hall. Wonder what Mario would tell me this time. Probably something I already know.
But who cares? He's probably gonna fall like the rest. Easily, and unnoticed.
Dim: L~! I finally caught up with you~!
I didn't want to turn to face him. I knew it was Dim. But it was hard enough walking forward on my own.
Dim: Do you remember when we used to live here~? Yeah! ME NEITHER! Ah ha ha! Which I plan to fix~!
I just kept walking. I knew that if I stayed close to him, something bad would probably happen. He floated so he was right in front of me.
Dim: But I do remember when I woke up here. I had no arms. No legs! Not even hands! And the funniest part was, I didn't even know if I was supposed to HAVE those things!
I tried to speed up my walking, but he kept up with me.
Dim: They tortured me, ah ha ha... They tortured me since day one and I don't even remember them! They stuck me with needles, broke my SOUL, ended my game OVER and OVER with the false promise that I would get to see you again~!
I couldn't help but look at him.
Mr.L: Me?
Dim nodded.
Dim: Yup! You! The only thing I could remember! And do you want to know how?
He paused.
Dim: Every time they broke my SOUL for their selfish causes, I heard it. I heard your voice~!
But, how could he? I was dead!
Dim: They would break my SOUL and every time I would hear it... 'Dim! Don't give up! You need to keep PERSERVERING! Do it for me, please...' And so I did. I did it for you! I waited and waited, death after death. Until finally, I realized, they were never going to let me see you. They were just keeping me around to harvest my PERSERVERENCE! So I confronted Nastasia one day. I asked her, 'When will you let me see L..?'. She replied, 'Oh, uh... Probably after this one, I-I promise!'... Well, she 'promised' that same thing before. She 'promised' me that 256 times.
That's a lot of deaths...
Dim: I had it with being nice by then. I tried being patient, but that didn't work... So I took things into my own hands. I ran through this place. Ran and ran until I collapsed from exhaustion. But I couldn't give up yet~! I cried out for help and do you know who found me? Lord Blumiere of all people! I didn't and still don't remember him, but I told him everything. He seemed to pity me and yet be terrified of me all at the same time! He didn't tell me anything, but I knew he was holding back on me. So I ran away from him! Then I came across none other than Timpani! I cried to her this time. She couldn't keep herself from telling me, I could see the pity in her eyes as I told her what little I remembered. She took me to you.
I stopped dead in my tracks.
Dim: I saw you. Just lying there. You looked so peaceful, and yet, in pain. I sat there beside you for hours before Nastasia and Blumiere finally found me. She didn't want me to see that you were dead. She knew that once I found out, she would have no power over me. And boy was she RIGHT! She betrayed me! She tested me like a lab rat just because my SOUL has some weird color to it! So I RIPPED out my SOUL! I ripped it out and smashed it on the floor in rage!
Dim: My SOUL shattered and I heard your voice again. So I couldn't help but come back to this tainted reality. But when I awoke, my SOUL wasn't there! I had no SOUL! I felt NOTHING! Nastasia couldn't control me ANYMORE! So I escaped this place and ran to anyone who might be able to help me get you back! But over and over, no matter who I went to, they would lash out at me. Run and scream at the mention of my name, and I would always reset. I tried to be nice, but they didn't want me to~! But I did find out one thing. That the Pure Hearts could revive my memories! I asked, BEGGED them for the Pure Hearts! But it was always the same. So I got to thinking... Ah ha ha... What would happen if they DIED?! AH HA HA!
Dim: Any who dared stand up to me I struck down! And I couldn't feel bad if I tried! But no matter what I did, I could never get all of the Pure Hearts. I would always predict what would happen. And as my LOVE increased, I grew tired of everything. So one day, I gathered up the courage to go see you again. I snuck back into this castle and went to you. But you weren't there. I went and searched EVERYWHERE! But I couldn't find you. So many resets passed after that and I had almost forgotten you! Until I went to the garden... Ever since you returned, I haven't been able to reset! Your DETERMINATION surpasses anything I could have even thought of!
He flew up to me and hugged my arm, not being able to wrap his little attachments around my waist.
Dim: But you're back! Together we can show them all! I knew that you would come back to me! I knew that if I cried your name enough, you would come back! Where were you? Were you following me the whole time like how I followed you? It doesn't matter! I gathered seven of the eight Pure Hearts already! We can both remember! Heh... you just killed them and left the Pure Hearts... Didn't even go back for them...
I could tell that he had a change in demeanor with those last two sentences. He let go of me and floated just out of arms' reach.
Dim: B-but hey! Y-you wouldn't do that to me, r-right? I-I've been nothing but helpful!
I grew concerned as he started shaking uncontrollably.
Dim: H-heh, this is a weird feeling... W-why am I shaking like this? L-L, be honest please, we don't have hard feelings r-right?!
He looked like he was about to pass out. I took a step towards him and he immediately recoiled.
Dim: H-hey! B-back off! Heh heh... I mean... Right there is just fine...
Dim honestly looked terrified. I stepped forward again.
Mr.L: Are you... SCARED of me?
That came out a lot meaner than I intended.
Dim: N-n-no! O-of course not, L! Heh... W-wouldn't it be better if you just reset the timeline? W-we could go back! N-no more LOVE! That life seems just fine!
I took another step and he backed up again.
Mr.L: I can't do that yet. I still have to finish this.
He looked at what I had in my hand and paled.
Dim: Th-this isn't fun, L! S-stop it! Y-you're... YOU'RE SCARING ME!
I followed his gaze to the bloody knife in my hand... I think he misinterpreted what I said...
Mr.L: No, I didn't mean it like that, I wasn't talking about-
I took another step and he bolted down the hall.
Mr.L: DIM! WAIT!
Dim: NO! STAY AWAY FROM ME!
I let out a grunt of frustration and chased after him.
