'Y/n, how lovely to finally meet you. Have a seat.'
Three hours earlier:
'I don't think that plan's going to work,' I shake my head, pointing at the flaw in Mari's drawing. Mari rolls her eyes, taking it back.
'It's perfect,' she argues. 'We confront Gabriel right away, and ask him if he's Hawkmoth. No beating around the bush necessary.'
'Right, but um what if he's not,' Adrien asks, rolling onto his back. I'm lying sprawled out across Adrien's bed on my stomach as we hurriedly try to come up with a plan to discover Hawkmoth's secret identity.
'Then we just say it was a joke.' Mari reasons, waving her arms around. What's she trying to do? Show us what do in case of an emergency landing?
'A joke,' I say dryly. 'Yeah uh, no offence Adrien but your father probably doesn't appreciate jokes that much.'
'None taken,' Adrien says. 'He really hates jokes to be honest.'
Marinette sighs. 'Well, do you have any ideas?'
I shake my head sheepishly. 'No.'
Suddenly, there's a knock at the door.
'Adrien, are you talking to someone?' Nathalie. Shit.
I dive off the bed, rolling underneath, a surprisingly familiar drill. Marinette follows me, taking the papers with her. Plagg grabs a piece of Camembert from the shelf and disappears into his cupboard.
'Hello?' Nathalie knocks more insistently.
'Oh, uh hi Nathalie,' Adrien calls. 'Sorry I was listening to music, I couldn't hear you.'
'How many times to I have to tell you that Olivia Rodrigo can wait when I'm trying to talk to you,' Nathalie sighs impatiently, opening the door. 'Your father wants to see you.'
I can picture Adrien's shocked expression as he responds. 'Really? He wants to talk to me?'
'Does he have any other children?' Nathalie says exasperatedly. Wow. Savage. 'Come on down, he needs you right now.'
'Okay,' Adrien says slowly, following her. The door shuts behind him and I sigh quietly with relief.
'Oh and Y/n, I know your down there,' Nathalie says dryly. 'You can come out now.'
I grit my teeth, signalling for Mari to stay hidden, before crawling out.
'Hello Nathalie,' I say sheepishly.
She eyes me with narrowed eyes. 'Good to see you Y/n.' She says in a voice that clearly states unhappiness.
'So, uh I'll just go then.' I clear my throat, heading towards the door.
'Actually, now that Adrien's with his father, there's a few things I'd like to say to you.' Nathalie's brows furrow and she removes her glasses. 'Duusu, spread my feathers.'
I gape helplessly as Nathalie transforms into Mayura right in front of me. I can hear Mari shifting around under the bed and I silently pray that she stays silent.
'Mayura?' My mouth drops open. 'Nathalie, you're-does that mean that Gabriel's Hawkmoth?'
'Mr. Agreste to you....'Nathalie pauses, possibly for dramatic effect. 'Ryuko.'
