'Don't be bemused, it's just the news,' Nadja's familiar greeting welcomes me as I sit down on the couch. The bright lights shine directly into my eyes and I try not to flinch. 'This evening I'm here with Superhero's Ladybug, Cat Noir and our new superhero, Ryuko!'
'Thanks for having us Nadja,' Ladybug smiles, putting on her 'public display' expression. She faces slightly inwards towards Nadja rather than the camera. This newscast is currently being broadcasted to the entirety of Paris-which isn't terrifying at all.
'Firstly, I'd just like to ask if there's anything you can share about Paris's newest hero?' Nadja looks at me, her eyes widening expectantly. I glance up, my gaze drifting to Cat Noir for some uncertain reason. 'Ryuko, what can you tell us about yourself?'
I open my mouth slowly. 'Well, I'm glad that Ladybug has entrusted me with this important job,' I say with a hesitant grin. 'It's pretty awesome to be able to help save Paris, and have such great partners.'
'Yeah, we're really awesome,' Cat Noir smirks, leaning back on the couch and placing his feet up on the table in front of us.
'We're glad to have you all,' Nadja beams. 'Now onto something more interesting,' she flicks a button and the screen behind us powers up. 'I've heard rumours-'
Here we go again with the rumours.... '-rumours that you and Cat Noir have been close.'
I kinda expected Nadja to pull something like this after the last time I was on Prime Time.
She taps another button and the picture of me kissing Cat Noir while he's tied up is displayed to the entirety of Paris. Delightful.
'Can you confirm these rumours?' Nadja asks with a slightly sly smile. I tap my fingers anxiously on the table, avoiding eye contact with anyone.
Cat Noir's mouth drops open. 'Wait, why was I tied up?'
Nadja's face lights up even more and she looks between the three of us.
Ladybug lets out an annoyed sigh. 'These are pictures from our most recent fight with supervillain Dark Cupid,' she rolls her eyes. 'So, no. They aren't dating.'
'Well hang on there bugaboo,' Cat Noir tilts his head cheekily. 'Only Ryuko and I can confirm these....theories.'
I shake my head with disappointment at him. 'Are you trying to fuel the rumours?'
'Let him finish,' Nadja says eagerly, her eyes still trained on the black cat.
'You. Have. A. Girlfriend.' I hiss at him.
'Oh?' Apparently Nadja doesn't miss a thing. 'Who is this mystery girl?'
'Wouldn't we all like to know?' I grumble under my breath.
'She's probably watching this right now,' Cat Noir says, scratching the back of his neck anxiously. 'I won't share too much with you, but yes I do have a girlfriend. And it's not Ryuko.'
'Does she know your identity?' Nadja asks with an interested expression.
'No,' Cat Noir shakes his head.
'Unfortunately, not even the people we're closest to can know our identities,' Ladybug says with a furious glance at Cat Noir.
There are some exceptions, but I'm guessing that Ladybug-or Marinette wants me to leave that small detail out.
'So what about you Ryuko?' Nadja turns to me, apparently done with Cat Noir. 'Are you in a relationship too?'
'Yep,' I nod, speaking quietly.
'Wow,' Nadja says. 'So there you have it Paris! The latest on our superheroes!'
We wave, before exiting the building. I follow Ladybug and Cat Noir onto the building where Ladybug starts pacing angrily.
'I swear to god! That woman only wants an excuse to talk to us about our love lives!' She fumes, stomping a foot. 'Nadja's a nice person, but she's way out of line!'
Cat Noir seems to ponder this. 'Maybe not that out of order.' He shrugs. 'I mean she's just trying to make a living.'
'It was too personal though,' I admit. 'Does she even care about our work? Or just about who we're dating?'
he nods. 'That's true.'
'Ugh, you don't even care do you?' Ladybug shakes her head at him furiously, jumping off the side of the building, probably to get home.
'Just leave her alone,' I sigh. 'I'll talk to her later.'
He raises his eyebrows. 'You'll talk to her?'
'Yeah, of course,' I say.
'Well thanks princess,' Cat Noir says with a grin. My heart leaps-nope. What? No.
'No problem, Kitty.' I say.
He sits on the edge of building.
'Join me?'
