"Addison..."
✰✰✰
Isabella Swan closed the door of the busted red truck without looking away from the Cullen's house, it still looked the same, but it didn't feel the same which is what crushed the human the most but she could sense a familiar feeling, Addison was somewhere near, somewhere close, she could feel whatever the cinnamon feeling was. Her ratty converse hitting against the wooden stairs was the only sound echoing through the normally loud home, "Addison, hello" she called searching the living room and kitchen with hope burning in her belly but the eldest twin was nowhere to be seen. Isabella ignored the empty shell of Edward's room searching Alice's and then Rosalie's bedroom's in hopes that the vampire would be in one of them but both were cold and empty. Finally, Isabella's hand wrapped around the doorknob of what she always assumed was Jasper's and Addison's room, she had been in almost every single room in the house but never in the couple's until now. She slowly opened the doors and a familiar perfume welcomed her senses unlike the musty scent in the other bedrooms but the room was still completely empty. Isabella never pictured blank light grey walls with no furniture for Jasper's and Addison's bedroom.
No, she always imagined a wooden bookshelf pushed against a wall filled to the brim with different books from history to poetry, she imagined an old record player resting on a desk with classical and newer records, she imagined pictures hung carefully on the walls and some on bedside desks. She imagined a corkboard hung above Addison's desk, she always imagined the board would be filled with old flowers that had been pressed in a book, old ballet programs, cut-out poems, and even more cute couple photos. And she imagined plush cream and white pillows along with an extremely fuzzy grey blanket on the large window seat that you could look clear out into the forest from, and on the balcony, she imagined a hammock where Jasper would read and Addison would cuddle into his side in their own perfect world but there was nothing, it was completely bare.
Isabella slide open the white double doors of what she assumed was the closet, she always wanted to see the inside of Addison's closet, she had seen Alice's and wondered if Addison had as many clothes and shoes, plus the twins had different styles, but once again the closet was empty making the human frown. She knew that if Addison was still around the closet would have at least some clothes, "but...I don't understand" she mumbled stepping further into the walk-in closet. "I had to move my clothes just in case you came snooping around". Isabella thought her heart had stopped beating at the familiar voice, it was like church bells, so so sweet with sultry undertones, "Addison..."
✰✰✰
Addison Cullen watched from a tree as the human wandered around the empty shell of her bedroom completely lost in her own thoughts, she wondered if the human was picturing what the room used to look like when two people actually lived in it. Addison carefully teleported into the room as the human wandered further into the closet, she knew she shouldn't show herself to the girl but she that maybe, just maybe, she could help the human get some closure if she just talked to her. "But...I don't understand" Isabella mumbled making Addison slightly smile before she finally spoke, "I had to move my clothes just in case you came snooping around", Addison was slightly worried that Bella's heart had stopped but after a pause, the human spoke, "Addison..." her voice was a broken whisper "I'm here" Addison replied almost flinching at how fast the human turned around, her skin paler than normal like she was staring at a ghost.
"A-Addison" Isabella repeated before tossing her body across the room wrapping her arms around the surprised vampire who tensed from the sudden affection, Bella pulled away from the one-side hug with wide brown eyes "I knew you were still around, where's Edward, is he okay". Addison felt like the human was going to pass out from how fast she was talking and how loud her heart was pounding making her grab the girls' hands leading her over to the wooden window seat before gently sitting her down, "take a breath" she instructed waiting for the human to breathe before she spoke. "I'm the only one here, and I-I haven't really visited my family since December" Isabella ran a hand through her unbrushed hair trying to wrap her head around everything, "h-how long have you been here". Addison sucked in an unneeded breath before responding, "since...September".
✰✰✰
"You've- You've been here this whole time," Isabella asked feeling something began to bubble in her stomach, "I was told to stay behind and make sure you're okay...I was supposed to visit my family more often but I've been really worried about you" Addison replied fidgeting with her wedding ring. "You've been here this whole time, and are just now reaching out" Isabella muttered in disbelief the eldest twin easily catching the new tone. "Like I said in the email, Edward told all of us to erase contact with you, that's why Alice changed her number, and that's why I stayed in the shadows" Addison twirled the ring around her finger suddenly regretting not staying hidden.
"Okay I get hiding but you could have at least answered my emails", Addison visibly recoiled shocked at how angry the broken girl suddenly was. "But- I did answer them?" her answer sounded more like a question and it earned her a scoff in response, "one time, Addison, you responded one time out of at least a thousand". Addison Cullen stood up from the window seat like she had been struck with a hot branding iron, this wasn't how this reunion was supposed to go sure she figured Bella would be a little upset but she wasn't expecting to be guilt-tripped over some emails.
✰✰✰
"Hey- at least I answered okay, I told you Edward made us promise not to contact you and I broke that promise, so don't attack me" Isabella once scoffed in response, "whatever, you claim to care about me but you stayed hidden since September, I needed you". Addison suddenly realized why she used to despise the human so much, nothing was ever good enough for her, she had Edward's love but she wanted to be a vampire, Addison had broken a family promise for her but it wasn't enough, nothing was ever good enough for the greedy human.
"Because I thought you would be okay eventually, I didn't realize how serious the situation was until your last email" Addison defended herself but the human wasn't listening to lost in her own anger. "Well, I'm not okay Addison, I'm hurting and I needed you, and you... you knew that and yet you stayed hidden in the shadows". Addison's eyes softened as her arms uncrossed falling limply at her sides, "Bella I'm sor-", "this- this is all your fault" Isabella shouted her voice as loud as thunder cutting Addison off, she was so used to the human being awkward and meek. "H-how is this my fault" Addison stuttered regretting not staying hidden.
✰✰✰
"You were supposed to help Jasper with his control but all of your attention was on yourself, you're so selfish. And- and because of you, he's a blood-thirsty monster-" Addison was quick to shut the human up her hands shoving against her shoulders forcing her back into a sitting position. "Don't you dare talk about him like that" Addison shouted making Bella's eyes widen realizing she had gone too far, "Addison I-", "No shut up! It's my turn to talk and your turn to listen" Addison was once again lost in her emotions, it seemed like Edward and Isabella had that effect on her.
"Don't you dare call Jasper a monster when you don't know anything about him or his life, as a matter of fact don't mention him at all" Isabella didn't mean what she had said about the honey-blonde, she was just lost in her emotions, she knew it was neither Addison's nor Jasper's fault. "If you really want to play the blame game we should talk about your tendencies of casually bleeding in front of a family of vampires" Addison was gone, lost in every single emotion possible, anger, sadness, blame, regret, it was a never-ending swirl and Isabella was shocked by how many emotions burned in her golden eyes each one directed towards her. "And for you to call me selfish, do you really think I wanted to stay behind and babysit you, no I chose to stay behind and help you try to live a normal life and then you try to guilt-trip me." Addison ran a hand through her hair letting out a huff of disbelief. "I knew I should have stayed hidden in the shadows because I knew the moment you saw me it wouldn't be enough for you because all you want is Edward, well get over it, because he's gone and he's never coming back".
✰✰✰
Addison Cullen's chest was heavily rising and falling with every single unneeded breath, her hands swiping down her face feeling completely stressed as the human curled her legs into her chest, harsh sobs rattling her body, "y-your right i-it was m-my f-fault" Isabella cried making Addison let out a heavy sigh. "Fuc- Isabella I'm so sorry" she carefully dropped down to her knees in front of the bawling human, "I'm sorry" Addison was unsure where to rest her hands, and she was unsure how to comfort the human when she had been the one to cause the tears.
"I shouldn't have snapped at you" she mumbled listening to the girl sniffle into her hands, "look I'm sorry for what I said but we can't blame each other, what happened wasn't anyone's fault, not yours, not mine, and not Jasper's, it was just some stupid accident". Addison sighed tapping her nails against the wood of the seat "I'm here for you Bella, and your right I should have been here earlier, I shouldn't have hidden in the shadows, but I'm here for you now and I'm not going anywhere". Isabella let out another small sob as she tossed herself into the vampires' arms and this time, Addison hugged back. Bella practically melted into Addison's arms, relishing in the familiar coldness of her skin, the sweet scent of her perfume and shampoo, she was just relishing in the comfort of an old...friend...
✰✰✰
Addison wasn't sure how long she had been holding the crying human all she knew was the girl had passed out, and she didn't have the energy to get the human home so she carefully moved Isabella into a different position before moving to get some blankets and pillows. Once Addison had gotten the human comfortable she made sure to send a message to Charlie Swan from Isabella's phone explaining that the human was staying at a friend's house and not to worry. "A-Addison don't l-leave me" Bella mumbled reaching out for the vampire, and Addison didn't have the heart to turn the girl away so she carefully slid beside the human, both of them cuddled uncomfortably on the window but Isabella practically melted into her side.
"Goodnight Bella" Addison whispered listening to the soft snores coming from the girl in her arms as she gently messed with the unbrushed locks of brown hair. 'Maybe, just maybe' she thought as she stared outside the window 'maybe showing my face was worth it".
A/n~ Told you the reunion would be dramatic... Hope you enjoyed <3 Jade
(Also I reused the aesthetic from the last chapter because it matched the theme of this one as well)
