Aria Rowen

My eyes fluttered open, adjusting to the sunlight that streamed through the curtains. I rolled over slowly, feeling the empty spot in my bed where Draco's body had previously been next to my own.

I blinked a few times before sitting up. My gaze immediately shot to the far side of the room where Draco was seated at my desk, scribbling something down on paper.

"Oh— you're awake..." He turned around when he heard me move so that he was looking at me.

"Morning," I gave a soft yawn, stretching my arms in front of me.

"How'd you sleep?"

"Fine... you?"

He stood up from the desk, walking over and towards my dresser. "Really well."

Draco was dressed in a pair of sweatpants with a Slytherin logo just below the waistline. His upper half was unclothed, his toned chest completely visible to me as I gazed at him.

I immediately blushed, becoming flustered as I spotted the tiny purple marks that I'd left along his chest and lower abs.

He gave a small smile when he saw where I was looking. "Check out yourself," He chuckled and turned back to face the mirror.

I climbed out of bed, slowly making my way over to stand beside him and look at my own reflection.

If I thought that his marks were bad, the ones that his lips left on my skin were almost worse. They were a lot more on my body than his, and they were noticeable too. The purple imprints had been left along my neck, shoulders, chest, and I lifted the edge of my shirt to see some scattered across my stomach as well.

"I think I did a nice job..." He chuckled and turned to face me, making me roll my eyes as I dropped the hem of my shirt down once again.

I reached down, taking his hand into my own. "Draco?"

"Yeah?"

"Why don't you ever talk about it?"

"What?" He looked down at me in confusion, but all I did was stare at his forearm.

"Aria—" As soon as he noticed what I was looking at, he wrenched his arm away from me, moving it to his side and out of my view. "Don't... don't look at that."

"Draco, it's okay," I reached up, gently placing my hands on each side of his face so that I could pull his head down to kiss him. Our lips collided smoothly, and my eyes fluttered shut as I relaxed my body against his own. I pulled away again, still maintaining perfect eye contact with him. "I don't think any less of y—"

"But they do..." He was quick to cut me off as he took my small hands into his larger ones. "People here— they hate me. All except for you."

This was it. He was finally going to open up to me again.

"I just... I don't want to put you through this. I don't want you to feel like you're stuck with me," Draco's voice almost sounded hurt and broken, but he was still maintaining a mental wall that separated his emotions from me.

"I could never feel stuck with you..." I mumbled the words softly before reaching up and kissing him again.

He kissed me back before pulling away, but he still held my body close to his. "I'll show you... one day. I promise I will. I'll talk to you about it too— if that's what you want."

"Of course. It's all up to you," I offered him a small smile and a nod.

It was true, I didn't want him to feel pressured to tell me anything, but at the same time I was dying to know more about him in order to grow closer.

"We're going to be late for breakfast if we don't hurry..." I changed the subject and began moving around, pulling my school uniform from my drawers and tossing it onto the bed.

Draco went along with it, rather than going further into our deep conversation. He reached for his wand and gave a short flick which caused his own uniform to appear in his hands before he retreated into the bathroom to change.

Before I knew it, I was sitting at the Gryffindor table next to Jenna as Indy and Dylan sat across from us.

The four of us were busy laughing and conversing with one another as we ate our breakfast. We'd grown closer once more, rather than spending our time arguing and fighting over petty issues.

"—Hello ladies!"

The shrill and high-pitched voice of Cecile Martin spoke up as the girl seated herself on the bench directly in between Indy and Dylan.

Jenna rolled her eyes, making it apparent that she didn't want to be anywhere near her.

"Can we help you?" Dylan sent the girl a look of disgust, and I stared at Cecile as well.

"No— I just want to become friends..." She spoke as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, but in reality, none of us wanted to get too close with her.

"Whatever," Dylan rolled her eyes, turning back to look at Jenna.

It was quiet for a few more minutes as the four of us ate our breakfast— but then Cecile spoke... again.

"So. Indy— is that right?"

Indy Emans gave a shy nod, wondering why the girl even wanted to talk to her in the first place.

"You used to date Luke, didn't you?"

Indy gave a nervous look towards me before responding. "Um— yeah."

"Oh... well... I just thought that you should know—" Cecile gave a nervous laugh, raising her eyebrows as she looked down at the table again. "—he and I are together, so don't get in the way."

"Excuse me?" Indy sounded hurt at the girl's words.

"You know... just... don't try and get Luke back. He obviously isn't into you anymore."

Indy gave a small scoff, rolling her eyes a bit before uncomfortably looking down at her plate.

"I don't blame him," Cecile eyed her from across the table. "You aren't exactly— well... let's just say I don't see how he could ever date someone like y—"

"You fucking bitch!" Jenna slightly rose her voice as she stood up from the table.

My eyes immediately widened and I gave a small tug on Jenna's robe in hopes that she would calm down, but she didn't— in fact, she seemed to grow even madder by the second.

"Jenna, please sit back down..." I whispered the words as several students' heads began to turn and look at the scene she was causing.

"You know what—" Jenna crossed her arms, shooting the girl a glare from across the table. "Go to hell, Martin... or just go back to Carrow. They're the same thing so it doesn't really matter— but if you ever insult Indy again... I'll make your life miserable."

Cecile rolled her eyes, almost as if she couldn't believe the words coming from Jenna's mouth.

"Whatever..." She mumbled her weak response before standing up and storming away, back towards the Slytherin table where Luke Carrow and his friends were all seated.

"Jenna, you didn't have to do that."

"I wanted to..." She quickly responded to Indy, whose only response was a small shake of her head.

"One day Jenna... one day you'll get in trouble for defending me," Indy spoke softly as she set her fork down, standing up and beginning to grab her school books.

Dylan and I followed suit and stood up as well.

"Time for class?"

We all nodded and began making our way out of the great hall. It felt nice to know that we had each other's backs again. We were no longer in petty fights. Everything seemed like it was finally going well again.

The real question was... how long would it last?
