"okay, sannie, eat. youngie, stop stealing mins food. yunho sweetie thank you for helping, but jongho can feed himself, eat please. minnie, don't slap wooyoung. yeosang baby you have to eat more than just your fruit." seonghwa kept lecturing.
they've been sitting here for ten minutes, he's taken approximately two bites of his own food. too focused on if the kids were eating their own. but as if god himself sent seonghwa a gift, his husband finally walked downstairs.
"finally" the oldest mumbled
"sorry love" hongjoong whispered. he kissed his husbands temple before sitting between him and mingi.
"hi papa, you wan' my fruit?" mingi asked smiling brightly
"no baby, you gotta eat your own fruit, hm?" hongjoong said, picking up his sons fork and stabbing it into a cut up strawberry. "say ahhh". mingi did as he was told an let his dad put the fruit into his mouth.
"good boy min" hongjoong said, patting mingis soft hair
they always praised their sons for things like eating. they wanted them to know it's good to eat.
"papa!" jongho squealed, suddenly noticing his fathers presence
"hey jjongie, are the waffles good baby?" hongjoong laughed looking at his youngest. he had waffled crumbs and syrup all around his mouth. the boy giggled along with his dad.
hongjoong looked over at seonghwa, who was wiping yeosangs face. then he looked at the olders plate
"babe" hongjoong called out
seonghwa stopped what he was doing and faced his husband. he was greeted with a piece of waffle on a fork. he rolled his eyes playfully before excepting the food.
"don't worry about them being messy, you need to eat. i'll clean them up after okay?" hongjoong whispered. "especially you, messy" he said louder, turning his gaze to yeosang. yeosang giggled at his dad and continued eating his waffle.
the adults began eating. occasionally helping their kids with simple things like more juice, or more syrup.
"gi, you've had three glasses of orange juice, baby. why don't you have some water?" seonghwa responded to mingi plea for orange juice
"mommy, please. i want juicey" mingi said, not giving his mama puppy eyes. no can resist those eyes. that includes seonghwa, who sighed and reached for the orange juice. mingi clapped as he watched the juice being poured into his cup.
"mingi, say thank you" yunho stated as he saw his brother gulp the juice
"fank you" mingi gasped out before returning his mouth back to the cup.
"slow d-down..." yeosang mumbled. not even a second after, mingi started choking. "t-told you"
hongjoong patted the boys back, know that it wasn't too serious and he would only be coughing for a little bit. seonghwa looked like he was panicking
"minmin are you okay?" seonghwa asked frankly. mingi nodded while still coughing.
"don't worry, he just drank too fast" hongjoong said continuing to rub mingis back. "take a drink of my water, gi"
after all that... the family started getting ready for the day. luckily it was summer break, so they didn't have to be frantic. but seonghwa had to go to the store, and he knew at least half of his kids would want to go.
"okay, who wants to go shopping with mama" seonghwa yelled from the kitchen
a few 'me's rang through this ears as the children began to pile in. seonghwa now realizing that he would have to keep some of them home. mingi, yeosang, yunho, and of course jongho waddled his way in.
"i'm only taking two... jjongie, why don't you stay home with papa" seonghwa said lifting the two year old on his hip
"you get cranky when you're in stores to long, munch" hongjoong said taking the youngest from his husband
"yeosang, do you wanna stay with papa?" the oldest asked
they knew yeosang had some sort of separation anxiety, he prefers both parents to always be there with him. but if he had to choose, like right now, he's always been a mama's boy. hongjoong doesn't take any offense to it. he understands the boys connection. seonghwa is caring. and yeosang is relatively shy, and a little different from other kids his age. but that's okay. they love him nonetheless
"s-sorry p-p-papa.." yeosang whispers. he looked at his feet, he doesn't like hurting his parents feelings.
"it's okay bubby, you're allowed to go" the shorter parent chuckled fondly
yeosang nodded and walked up to his mama. "up" he mumbled, raising his hands up. seonghwa lifted the small boy, placing him on his hip.
"mama. i changed my mind. i wanna play board games with papa" mingi announced before walking over to hongjoong and hugging him.
mingi is a papa's boy. he loved learning new things from his dad, especially music. with hongjoong producing often, mingi will often waddle into his office during nap time and watch him work while sitting on his lap.
"okay gi, yunho are you gonna be my helper today?" seonghwa smiled
"mhm! yeosang too, right sangie" yunho chirped
if you couldn't guess... yunho's a mamas boy as well. but only slightly. if you were to ask him, he would say he's a mama and papas boy. yunho likes to be his mamas helper, helping with chores, or his brothers. and he also likes to be hongjoongs helper, usually helping him with his brothers as well. so there isn't really anything that stands out to make him either or.
"uhuh!" yeosang squealed happily. the parents chuckled as seonghwa put yeosang down
"okay, we're going to the store. do you guys want anything" seonghwa said while grabbing his keys
"orange juice" mingi announced
"yes min, i will buy more orange juice" seonghwa laughed
"mommy, get thnackieth" wooyoung asked, tugging on his mamas sleeve. snackies means fruit snacks in three year old language.
"okay baby, you want dino or gooey" gooey is gushers
"bof'?" wooyoung tilted his head
"i'll think about it, go sit beside sannie"
wooyoung is a both dads kinda boy. he connected with both of them fairly fast. he easily gets attached to things, but recently the parents have noticed that he only gets attached to certain things and people. we'll get into that topic later though.
"sannie, what do you want" seonghwa asked
"nothing mama, tanks" san said smiling at seonghwa
san is a papas boy. like mingi he likes learning new things from his dad. but he isn't picky about who he goes to the store with, or who baths him.
"okay, i'm on my way then, love you" seonghwa whispered to hongjoong before giving her a peck
"mama! wan' kitheth" jongho begged, bouncing in hongjoongs arms.
"i'll give jjongi kisses" san chirped
jongho screamed (more like screeched) out a no causing san to pout
jongho is also a both dads kind of boy. he likes being with both of his parents and doesn't feel the need to always follow just one around. why follow one when you can follow both.
"he just doesn't like other people to kiss him sannie" yunho stated, patting the youngers shoulder
"y-yeah but he l-let m-m-ingi gi-give him k-kisses" yeosang said
"it's okay guys, i'm sure it's just an attachment thing. he loves all of you" hongjoong said as he watched seonghwa attack the boy in his arms with kisses. causing jongho to become a giggly mess.
"papa, kitheth" jongho said as seonghwa stands up straight
hongjoong gives him three kisses, one on his forehead, one on his nose, and the last one on his lips. the two year old giggled
hongjoong let the toddler down and seonghwa and the two oldest boys started walking out the door.
"bye bye! byeee! lobe oo" jongho waved to his mama and two brothers, hopping up and down
"jongho is cute papa" mingi giggles
"jjong wanna pway?" wooyoung waddled up to jongho
the two year old gasped and waddled to the play area with wooyoung. hongjoong chuckled as san followed behind them.
"board games papa?" mingi asked, looking up at hongjoong.
hongjoong nodded and went to go get chutes and ladders from his shared bedroom
