{Day 1}
As the waves crashed on the shore, we all stared at the beautiful sight in front of us.
Those crystal waters... That white sand... The vibrant green trees and plants...
We were here. We were finally here.
Me, Hiria, Loveless and Dria all stared at it with that usual warm feeling we'd get whenever we saw this place. That feeling of home. Something that we're always happy to come back to.
And with the others, it's like seeing a whole other world.
"WOO!! We're finally here..!!" Dria exclaimed, jumping out of the boat and landing flat on her back on the sand
"How have you not gotten a concussion yet..?" Hiria questioned
"I guess I just have a very strong and durable body" Dria smirked
The remaining of us got off the boat and walked over to a near by tree for some shade. Dria was practically dragged over by Hiria so that she doesn't get heatstroke. We all stood by, waiting for a pretty important person.
Though, everyone who didn't know the customs were really confused.
"Why are we waiting here again? Didn't you say we'd be going to where we'd be staying as soon as we arrived here?" Tommy questioned
"Now, now, Tommy. We have to be patient. There's someone that needs to meet us before anything" Hiria states
"What? Is it some form of legal government?" Tommy asks, jokingly
With that sentence coming out of Tommy's mouth, Hiria lets out a dark chuckle.
"Yeah actually... Something like that..."
"Hiria..! E ā mai koe?" A familiar voice spoke
(translation: "Hiria..! How are you?")
We all turned around to see the one and only Kelihiano Kalolo walking towards us form the distance. He's head of the Tokelau government. A nice and friendly old man with a continuous burning passion for his country.
"Mālō ni Kelihiano! Ko au e manuia, fakafetai!" Hiria responds with a wave and a smile
(translation: Hello Kelihiano! I'm good thank you!)
Once Kelihiano got up to us, he smiles at the lot of us. He scanned the crowd for a few moments before his smile turned into a slight frown.
"Hmm? What's wrong grand-pops?" Dria questioned, eyebrow risen in curiosity
"....where... where is Y/N?" Kelihiano asked in slightly broken English
It felt like a little wooden stake entered my body and pierced my heart.
Even he didn't recognise me...
"Y/N..?" The others questioned
Oh shoot-
"Haha... She couldn't make it this year..." Dria laughed, sweat dropping a little over her trying her best to come up with an excuse
Despite this, he continues to eye up everyone in the crowd, until his eyes landed on me. He squints his eyes a bit until he finally realised that it was me. He was about to open his mouth, but I quickly placed my finger over my lip is a 'shush' gesture. He got the memo, so he decided not to comment any further on the matter.
Soon enough, he was back to his usual smiles.
"It is so nice to meet you all...! I hope you enjoy your stay..!" Kelihiano says
"Anyways, I need to talk with Kelihiano for a bit... So U/N, Loveless and Dria can show you where you all will be staying. I'll probably be back around eight...!" Hiria says, walking up to Kelihiano's side "See you all then..!"
Hiria then walks off with Kelihiano, talking in Tokelauan once again. And we were left standing under the shade not that long after.
"...Alrighty then!! Come on everyone! Get your asses moving! We need to get to the place before it gets dark..!" Dria exclaims, marching off into the direction where the houses were
We all followed quickly after Dria, most of us struggling to keep up because we were a bunch of gamers who don't really get out much.
The journey was long and it was quite tiring since the sun was beaming down on us from above. Luckily we brought enough water for everyone who was literally dying of heat. The lot of them were wearing hoodies and sweaters with long pants or genes.
Like- really- come on. They knew we were coming to an island and yet they've done this- it's almost shameful....
I'm fine with the heat, so I have an excuse for wearing a hoodie at this point in time, but for the others who weren't use to it... It's quite sad to see them like this...
But probably after twenty minutes of walking, we finally came closing in at the set of homes we'll be staying at for the next week.
"There they are...! Right by the ocean as always..!!" Dria cheered
"I don't think houses would move automatically over night Dria..." Loveless giggled
"We'll be staying in those for the next week?" Wilbur questioned
"Yep!" Dria says
"Though, this comes to the major question we have yet to address..... Since we only were able to snag four houses... So people will need to get into groups in order for us to not get cramped" Loveless brings up
"Groups? Easy!! I'm rooming with Wil!!" Tommy says
"Oh no---" Wilbur turns to Philza and Techno "Please let me room with you guys"
"Whats so bad about rooming with him, Wil?" Philza asked
"It's Tommy..." Wilbur muttered out
"Oi! I'm right here you know!!" Tommy barked
"Well, I'm rooming with George and Nick" Dream says, slinging both of his arms around George and Sapnap's necks
"U-uhh... Yeah... sure?" George says
"No problems here with me..!" Sapnap chuckled
"Yeah- There is no way I'm rooming with Tommy for the entire week! Philza, Techno, i'm staying with you two!" Wilbur states, almost sounding like a pleaded cry for help
"Hmmm... What do you think Techno?" Philza shot Techno a curious look
"Throw the man a bone just this once" Techno replies
"Haha...! Alright then! I... I guess it's fine...!" Philza says, turning back to Wilbur
Wilbur's eyes sparkled with hope and happiness at his words. Happy to not be rooming with Tommy... Seriously, what's wrong with rooming with Tommy?
"What the fuck--???!" Tommy exclaimed
Defeated, Tommy walks up to Toby and pulls on his sleeve. Toby looks up at his blonde friend, eyebrow raised.
"I... I guess you'll have to be my roommate then..." Tommy says in a slightly annoyed tone, mainly because of Wilbur rejecting his request
"Wow. I almost feel hurt to know you I wasn't your first option" Toby gives Tommy a deadpanned stare
"H-Hey! It's nothing like that..! I promise I wanted you to be my roommate along with Wilbur...!!" Tommy states
"Wait.... Wouldn't there be an odd number of people in each house..?" Niki asked, realising one of the main problems with the housing situation
"Yeah..." Dria murmured "One of us girls has to either re-locate to Tommy and Tubbo's housing or---"
"I'm fine with re-locating" I say
Everyone's eyes turned to me, all focusing on me because of what I just said. I would tell they all were wondering if I was going to take back what I said, but I knew I was fine with it.
Nothing weird here. Just sharing a house and room with a few of your buds.
"Y-you are..?" Toby questioned
"I don't see the problem with it. Me and the others were actually discussing this on the plane not that long ago..." I said
"Honestly, even I don't see that much of a problem with it... But then again... Hiria..." Dria shivers
"...What about Hiria?" Wilbur questions
"Just make sure you don't have sleepovers...." Dria shivers once again at the distance memory replaying in her mind
Something did happen...
Dria joked about how me and her were going to have a sleepover. Just the two of us... All alone. And Hiria took it personal and lashed out. Later that same night Hiria began making our two way hangout session... somehow into a third-wheeling situation... And it was Dria who was being the third wheel...
"Uhhh... stupid advice, but okay" Tommy stared blankly at Dria
"A-anyways! All the houses are pretty much the same, so you and your group pick whatever you want! And feel free to ask me, Dria or U/N if you have any questions about the island or any functions you're curious about..!" Loveless says
We all then headed off in our groups to determine our houses for the week. Me, Tommy and Toby all headed for the house at the very end of the set of houses, right besides the forest and right in front over looking the beach. We got inside of the house and it looked cleaned and tidy. The wooden structures looked nice, a little different from what I remembered from the last visit... But I guess a lot of things can change in a year....
Despite this being one sketchy areas for the house to be set in, the two boys were so set on this one in particular, which got me curious.
"Interesting that you two decided to choose this spot instead of the other ones..." I say
They both turn to me, confusion plastered on their faces.
"What's so wrong with here? It's a great spot!!-- Since I picked it!" Tommy says
"H-hey! I did too!!" Toby huffed
"Not many people would want to stay by the forest and beach so casually... There are wild animals, y'know" I told them
A shift in expression and posture overcame the two boys upon hearing my words.
Which I kinda found amusing.
"W-what?-- What are they?? Bears? Tigers? Panthers??" Tommy stammered
"Uhh... Tommy... I don't think any of those would be on a small island like this...." Toby says
"Toby's right. But there are coconut crabs..! They're pretty big too-- and oh!! There's also the occasional wild pigs...!! Ohhh! And there are dolphins too-- but they're pretty rare to see... Birds are pretty common here too-- mostly chickens..." I say, listing off a few of the creatures
Toby giggled a little.
"You really like this place, don't you?"
"Uhhh, I mean- I guess so... It's like a second home to me..." I say "The people here are really nice, the first time she took me, Dria and Loveless here was just because Hiria was permitted to be some sort of star pupil for Tokelau. At the time, we all were much younger and didn't know anything about Hiria's culture, but when we were brought here.... Everyone was so nice and welcoming... Especially Kelihiano. He was quite like a second father to all of us"
"Ohhh, so Hiria's some sort of big shot?" Tommy questioned
"Around these parts, pretty much" I say
"Only around these parts? Are you kidding me?? She has bank!" Tommy exclaimed
"Yeahhh.... She does... But it's not like many people know her for her money..." I reply
"What does Hiria even do anyways? She always has so much money on hand... She even payed for all of our flights here... Got private jets... She donates to you a lot too..." Toby trailed off
"Not to mention that she's not even eighteen yet. Bloody hell, how does she have so much money? Is she- like- a billionaire?" Tommy asked
"She gets money through doing technical stuff. Like coding and such" I bluntly say
"What? Is she some sort of coder for a big company like Amazon?" Tommy jokingly said
"No, nothing fancy like that... It's a little hard to explain, so I wouldn't really want to go into detail with it..." I mutter
The two boys shrugged it off and went to pick their rooms.
With a small sigh escaping my body, I made my way to find an empty room that hasn't yet been claimed.
After searching a bit, I found a room located in the back corner of the house that has yet to be touched. The bed was nicely made and everything was tidy in here also. A few traditional Tokelauan art pieces were scattered around on display as well.... They were all so nice to look at, it's almost a shame that creations like this aren't sold everywhere in the world.
The floors were covered in tapa cloth with interesting designs on them.
Another day in Tokelau...
Placing my bags by the door, I threw myself onto my bed.
"Soft... As expected..."
It's kinda weird how they went to go the extra mile to make these more comfortable than usual though... Maybe because of the extra guests...
Suddenly, I heard a knock at my door and I turned my figure to see who it was. And to my slight surprise, it was Tommy out of all people.
"Hey, also. I just realised something... You called Tubbo by Toby..." Tommy said
I feel my face tint a little. Even I just realised. At this point I'm so use to saying it so casually that I didn't even think about calling him Tubbo.
"...We get along, and he said I can call him Toby if I wanted to..." I say
"Uh huh. And you know... That doesn't happen all that often..." Tommy teased
"Oh- okay big man- why don't you get unpacking before you start with this" I chuckled
"Pft- fine. Just you wait woman" Tommy says, turning and running back to his room
...I should really get out of here before Tommy gets back. He won't be easy on me when it comes to his best friend. Especially since he's already teasing me about him.
Quietly I stood up from the bed and made my way swiftly out of the house. The sun gleamed down at me again, welcoming me back to the outside world once more. Though the sky hued with common reds, oranges and pinks because it was just starting to slowly set.
Looking at the colours reflect off the sparkling ocean water. It really was pretty out....
"....Beautiful isn't it?" I heard a voice speak
I turned my sights in the direction of the voice, and it ended up belonging to Kelihiano.
What was he doing here...?
"O-oh... Mālō! Ko U/N toku igoa. E lelei kua feiloaki kitāua, ni Kelihiano" I say with a slight bow
(translation: O-oh... Hello! My name is U/N. Pleased to meet you Kelihiano)
"Come on Y/N... I know that's really you..." Kelihiano says, crossing his arms
With a small smile, I stood up straight and dropped my eye's gaze.
"Fakamolemole..."
(translation: sorry...)
"...What's there to be sorry for? Hiria has told me about your situation... You... You really are troubled with what you have to deal with..." Kelihiano chuckled lightly
"I can deal with it, and you know that..." I say, looking back towards the ocean "This is the first time you seeing me look like this, correct? It's strange, is it not?"
"Of course it is.... I don't remember you having that kind of hair and those eyes.... And... I most deferentially know your name wasn't U/N from the last time we met" He says
"Well... I'll be U/N throughout the rest of this vacation. So just tell the rest of the islanders that Y/N wasn't able to make it if they were to ask" I say
He nods, pretty understanding of the situation. And for the rest of the while, we continued to stare at the beautiful gradient in the skies.
But after a while of this silence, Kelihiano decided to speak up again.
"Well, it was nice to see you again. Even if they're not under proper circumstances...." He says "Make sure to look over Hiria as well this week..."
"Hmmm? What for?" I questioned
"Hiria's parents.... They both were lovely people, the loveliest I've met in a long time... and they both died earlier this month... Were you not brought aware of this?" He questioned
My eyes widen at the news.
...What? Seriously? They did??
"No... I wasn't..." I said
Kelihiano sighs.
"Well. Now that you know, please keep an eye on her. That girl does some pretty reckless things when it comes to her emotions... I'm sure you're aware of that though..." He says
Kelihiano then turns his body and begins walking away.
"Toe fetaui"
(translation: see you later)
"...Toe fataui" I say
As Kelihiano's figure walks away down the beach's shore, I wouldn't help but think back to what he told me to do. And why he wanted me to do it.
Hiria didn't tell me once about either of her parents deaths...
And she usually tells me everything...
...Did she not tell me because she didn't want me to worry about her?
For fucks sake Hiria...
I let out a scoff before I heard shouting and a mix of laughter and screaming in the distance. From the voice... I could tell it was Dria...
When I turned, I saw Dria getting chased down the beach by none other than Hiria.
I'm guessing Dria did something to tick off Hiria again...

Hiria...
"AHHH!!! Y/N---!! U/N!! HELP ME!!!" Dria screamed, correcting herself in the process
"U/N ISN'T GOING TO SAVE YOU DRIA!!" Hiria shouted
"HELP!!! I MESSED UP DINNER AND NOW SHE WANTS TO KILL ME!!!" Dria cried out
When Dria got over to me, she ran and hid behind me, placing her hands on the sides of my arms in order to use me as a human meat shield. Hiria tried her best to grab Dria, but was failing trying to catch her, so she gives up and just growls.
"Whatever... Dinner can always be fixed..." Hiria glared daggers at Dria before looking back to me
"Hey Y/N~ How about you help me with dinner, I know you're pretty good in the kitchen~" Hiria purred
"What do you mean? She doesn't know how to make anything but sweets--" Dria says
Hiria glares at her once again before she shifts her gaze back to me, eyes softening. A smile appearing on her face.
"I know you'll to amazing regardless" She says "And I wont take no for an answer"
Hiria then begins walking away from me and Dria, just waiting for me to follow behind her.
"Then... uhh... sure. I guess I can help..." I say, then turning to Dria "Keep the two boys entertained while i'm gone... Or bring them over to where we'll be eating"
Dria gives me a thumbs up, allowing me to leave and run to catch up with Hiria.

{Time Skip: After dinner is made and set out}

We all were outside and under the beautiful twinkling stars, eating our dinner.
The dinner wasn't all that, Sweet and Sour fish was what we were eating tonight.
Surprisingly, in all my years of coming here on vacation, I don't think I've ever tried this dish in particular. But from what Hiria says, it's apparently pretty good.
And, she wasn't lying. It did taste pretty good.
"Hey, can I have seconds?" Sapnap asked, mouth full
"Same..! This is actually really fucking good...!!" Tommy says
"Please swallow before you begin talking, where are your manners?" Wilbur sighs
"It is good though, I wouldn't mind having seconds... if there is enough..." Niki says
"Yeah, yeah. Plenty to go around, I assure you" Hiria smirks
I continued to eat quietly, everyone was so lively and talkative... It's like we've all been doing things like this for years.
It was nice to see... and of course hear...
Reminds me of a family....
Actually... The Dream SMP is just like one big family, huh...
I felt my lips tug upwards.
It was quite the nice feeling...
Suddenly I felt someone tug at my sleeve, so I turned to see it was Toby who did so.
"You helped make this, right?" He questioned
"Uhhh... Yeah. But I really didn't do all that much" I told him, putting another spoon full in my mouth
Toby lets out a little chuckle before he sat down besides me.
"Even if you don't think so, I think you did a pretty good job with this. It's the first time I'm trying something like this...!" He tells me
"The first time for a lot of people here I would assume" I respond
"Yeah.... But this feels more special to me" He says
"How so?" I question
"U-uhh... I... I don't really know how to put it..." He lets out a nervous laugh
"Understandable..." I say with a small smile
We soon went back to eating. Everyone seemed to enjoy the meal made for them despite it not being that fancy... And not to mention it was made by children...
I'm just glad it turned out okay....
I don't normally good food like that, sweets and deserts were more of my speciality than actual food. I don't think ramen would count for proper food I've made...so--- yeah.
After everyone was finished, we all went to our respected homes. Tommy and Toby seemed really tired, but I guess it was because of the flight and boat trip to the island... Even I'm starting to feel the tiredness in my body.
Drowsily I made my way to my room, shutting the door as soon as I entered and then flopping down face first into the blankets and pillows.
With the warm embrace of those silks, I went off into a deep sleep in a matter of seconds... with a smile appeared on my face.
