FIRST POSITION GOES TO...
🔱 Hell is an empty heart by AnnamitaMuscaria
Score: 146/150
Review:
COVER (4/5)
It is a beautiful cover, that also revolves around the story's protagonist. However, it could have been slightly more minimal to give it a more professional appeal.
TITLE (5/5)
It's a well-thought-out title that voices the story nicely, forming mysteries at the same time. It's a title that would attract a reader's attention for sure.
BLURB (3/5)
I felt like the blurb was not bad, but it honestly appears to be a bit underwhelming compared to how good the actual story is. I also felt that the blurb may have revealed a little more than necessary of the plot, spoiling the mystery. You should consider rewriting a more mysterious plot, that might want a reader to instantly hit the read button while also having a lot of questions and mysteries in the mind! The beauty of your story deserves an equally well-written blurb, if you ask me.
OPENING CHAPTER (15/15)
Flawless. Right from the beginning of the story, you feel as if you're reading a published novel. It starts on a beautiful note, and slowly the story unfolds. There's action, there's drama, there's love. It's a rollercoaster right from the beginning. A very promising start!
CHARACTERISATION (10/10)
You've done your research well. Or maybe you just love Greek Mythology so much that you just know everything (it's the latter, isn't it?). The characters are realistic and relatable. You've managed to get your readers to resonate with your characters— especially for Greek gods. Gradually, we can see them all experience an evident character development.
PLOT (20/20)
I looked hard for flaws in the plot, but you totally deserve that 20! The plot is fresh, well-researched, and engaging. It's also informative, and the pace is set perfectly too.
STYLE AND DESCRIPTION (15/15)
You may as well get this book published as a paperback. You're gifted at writing.
LITERARY DEVICES (10/10)
The descriptions in this book are so well written. The use of metaphors is scattered in paragraphs. Every sentence is well-crafted in this book.
MECHANICS (10/10)
Like I said before, this book could be a proper novel. It's professionally written, well-researched, and has a fresh and interesting plot.
LENGTH OF CHAPTERS (10/10)
The length of chapters is also as it ought to be. Neither too long, nor too short.
GRAMMAR AND PUNCTUATION (15/15)
I like how you've proofread the chapters enough to make sure there's not a single error in the script. Truly a flawless book, in my opinion.
MESSAGE (9/10)
This fic is sure to leave an impact on its readers. There's so much you can take from this book. So much to learn, so much to understand. A good read.
OVERALL ENJOYMENT (20/20)
No complaints from this book. I left this book feeling content. For people who enjoy novels like Percy Jackson or The Song of Achilles, this is a must-read. It's a rollercoaster of emotions, it has everything you need in a good novel. You won't be disappointed.
SECOND POSITION GOES TO...
🔱 The Queen of Arrows by BellOfSilence
Score: 144/150
Review:
COVER (5/5)
This cover perfectly fits the storyline, being minimal and beautiful at the same time. It looks professional, ready to go on the cover of a paperback as it is.
TITLE (5/5)
The title was well thought out. It revolves around the protagonist. It is simple yet mysterious enough to make a reader want to read more.
BLURB (5/5)
The blurb is interesting and it captures the reader's attention immediately. The mention of the legend sparks a curiosity in the mind. The blurb is not too short, leaving too much to the reader's imagination. It's neither too overexplained, spoiling important bits of the story. After reading the blurb, a literature lover would definitely tap the read button.
OPENING CHAPTER (13/15)
The opening chapter is well written. The descriptions are beautiful, the manuscript is professionally prepared. However, the opening chapter may have been a little underwhelming for a book that is so good. I feel like any reader would be compelled to read more if you'd given a little more hint of what's to come ahead in the first chapter. Otherwise, your writing style is something I am in love with.
CHARACTERISATION (10/10)
The characters are realistic and relatable. Readers can resonate with these characters. Marian, Robin, the Sheriff, the Guy of Gisborne, every single character was well-researched and represented human qualities.
PLOT (19/20)
Despite being taken from a legend, the plot felt so fresh. The pace of the story was almost perfect too. The storyline is interesting and captivating. I like the way you ended each chapter on a note which compels the reader to read the next part. The cliff-hangers were planned strategically, and the story is a mix of action, adventure, romance, and of course, literature. A good read.
STYLE AND DESCRIPTION (14/15)
Your writing style is genuinely mesmerizing. You write like a professional. Reading that book made me feel as though I was reading a well-plotted novel, rather than a Wattpad book. I am impressed, to say the least.
LITERARY DEVICES (10/10)
You know your way with words, I'll give you that. You've made the best use of all the resources in literature.
MECHANICS (10/10)
Like I said before, this is a ready-to-publish, professionally-written novel, not a Wattpad Book.
LENGTH OF CHAPTERS (10/10)
The length of the chapters does not disappoint. Neither too long, nor too short. Makes me want to read more of the next chapter, at the same time not stretching the length so much that I get bored and drop it.
GRAMMAR AND PUNCTUATION (15/15)
Each chapter has been carefully proofread carefully before publishing. No flaws, no errors, no typos.
MESSAGE (8/10)
The message was there, loud and clear in the book. Not the freshest message per se. Nevertheless, it's a good theme, and the reader can surely take a lot from the story.
OVERALL ENJOYMENT (20/20)
I highly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys literature. The legend of Robin Hood, combined with action, drama, romance, adventure, and humor, there's nothing that can put you off in this book. It's a fun read, and literature lovers must check it out. There's intense chemistry between the characters which makes this book so good. The cliffhangers and mysteries keep one on edge each time. There's so much to this book to praise, honestly. As I said, highly recommended.
THIRD POSITION GOES TO...
🔱 Karikalan: Saviour of the Cholas by The_EpicWriter
Score: 136/150
Review:
COVER (2/5)
Honestly, the cover seems alright to me. A little underwhelming as it might not attract a reader's attention immediately. I recommend you order a cover from a professional cover shop on Wattpad so that it does justice to your story.
TITLE (4/5)
It's a mysterious title, and it surely gives a total Historical Fiction vibe. It's not the freshest title, however.
BLURB (4/5)
The quotes and extracts used in the blurb surely spark a curiosity in the reader. The blurb also does not reveal too much of the plot. However, I feel that you could work a little more on the blurb to describe your story better so that the blurb compels the reader to check out the story.
OPENING CHAPTER (12/15)
The opening chapter is good. It captures love, drama, and of course, history. But it does not do justice to the rest of the story. If you work on the chapter a little more, it will make the reader want to read more of the book, and they can finally discover that the book is worth the time they spend on it.
CHARACTERISATION (10/10)
I am truly in love with your characters. Each one of them has something about them that you can just relate to. The characters are all dedicated and skilled, but goofy at the same time which makes them so realistic and human. You have the skill of making your characters all relatable. To be frank, I even started to form a soft corner for your antagonist, which is quite something. So good job as an author.
PLOT (18/20)
I would not claim this to be the most original plot, but the way you have captured the story is quite impressive. There's love, there's drama, there's tragedy, it's a whole package. The pace of the plot is something that genuinely impressed me.
STYLE AND DESCRIPTION (13/15)
You write well, from what I can make out. But there's always some room for improvement.
LITERARY DEVICES (8/10)
One way to improve your writing style is by making use of more literary devices. More metaphors, perhaps. Smart metaphors always work more than fancy words, to be frank.
MECHANICS (10/10)
No complaints when it comes to the professionalism of the script. It's proofread well, there's no errors. And you know the details and facts of the characters and events you write about.
LENGTH OF CHAPTERS (10/10)
The length of the chapters seems perfect to me. Neither too long, nor too short.
GRAMMAR AND PUNCTUATION (15/15)
As I mentioned before, the script has been proofread before publishing. No errors whatsoever.
MESSAGE (10/10)
This story manages to give out an obvious message. It reminds us of the values we've always been taught.
OVERALL ENJOYMENT (19/20)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am sure so will other readers. Indian readers who enjoy history are sure to love this book. There's so much to learn from this book. You don't just take away values, but also so much historical trivia. By making just a slight improvement in the writing style, you can make this book reach heights. Storyline-wise, though, it was a very good read.
