Kendrick's POV
It's amazing to see how her face lights up out of laughter whenever I tell her a stupid joke. She looks carefree, genuinely happy and in absolute bliss. Her hair falling back graciously as she tilts her head back.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" She gets me out of my trance, nudging me on my side
I let out a nervous chuckle, "You have food on the side of your mouth. You eat like a child." I say earning a hard glare from her. "Here, let me help you." I quickly lick the inside of my thumb and wipe the side of her mouth
Her eyes widen and her face morphs into a look of disgust.
"Eew gross Kendrick! You are so disgusting." She aggressively wipes the side of her mouth using both her palms
A deep scrawl is plastered on her face as she looks at me unapprovingly.
"That's how mothers clean their babies sometimes, don't look at me like that." I hold my hands up in surrender
"Do I look like a baby to you?" She asks, her scrawl getting deeper
"Well, you could be my baby." I smirk licking my lips
"Too bad, that's never going to happen." She says and I don't miss the faint blush that creeps up on her face
"And when it does, you should make Never say Never by Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith your ringtone for a whole year." I smile at her
She archs her brow, something she does often when she feels challenged. It's really cute to watch
"Oh really? Fine, I won't have to because it's not happening." She confidently says
We'll see Skylar...
"Alright, are you done yet? We still got one more place to go to." I call for the waiter to bring the bill
We make it out of the restaurant on our way to the second destination. Skylar however still doesn't know where we're going and I can't wait to get there and see the look on her face.
"Before we proceed, I need to blindfold you first." I chuckle at her disapproving face. "You'll love the surprise trust me." I say
I carefully guide her out of the car to the place while she threatens me if she falls or hits her head against something.
"Kendrick, where are we going?" She asks for the millionth time
I parked a bit far from the place because I don't want her to hear the sounds coming from there and instantly guess where we are.
I guide her as close as we can possibly get without her having to hear a thing but she can still see it from this distance.
"Okay, you can remove your blindfold." I say taking a step away from her.
She reaches for the knots at the back of her head and hurriedly untie them with a huge smile plastered on her face.
I take my phone out and record this glorious moment. She successfully unties it, letting it fall to the ground.
It takes a minute for her to fully process her surroundings and her smile falls from her face replaced by an angry frown.
"Kendrick, tell me this is a joke or else run." She says pinching the bridge of her nose and closing her eyes
I'm really tempted to laugh right now but knowing Skylar she'll not only attempt to murder me but she'll walk home and never talk to me again.
"Well it technically is." The glare I get from her is enough to shut my mouth
"You brought me to the circus, I don't think it's funny!" She's fuming right now
"You said you applied to the circus and they never got back to you so what better chance to go ask them what had happened. Plus you'll have a front row seat to how it actually is and that will help you decide if you still want to join or not." I say. I'm a laughing mess right now
She gives me one last glare before she storms past me. I put my phone back in my pocket and go after her.
"Skylar!" I shout after her
"Don't talk to me!" She angrily shouts back
I run to catch up with her and gently grab her wrist to stop her. She gives me a nasty look looking between me and my hand clutching around her wrist
"Okay okay listen, I'm sorry. It was not nice of me to bring you here, but since we are already here let us just go check it out I-"
"Kendrick, I'm not going in there."
"Just give it a chance and if you don't like it, you don't have to talk to me ever again." I say possibly dooming myself
She puts on a smirk and I just know that something crazy is running through that head of hers
"Fine, let's go. Just remember what you said at the end of this."
We make it into the circus after finding a suitable parking space. This place is packed, who even likes clowns?
"Omg, look Kendrick it's an actual elephant." She says tugging onto my arm pointing in the direction of a top hat wearing guy guiding an elephant to who knows where
"Yeah Skylar, you could be working hand in hand with them too if the circus hadn't rejected or possibly burned your application letter." I laugh earning a hard slap on my arm from her
She hits hard.. Damn
The circus is a dumb place, who even came up with this stupid idea. I'm starting to regret coming here honestly. I'm tired and the person that never wanted to come here looks like she's having the time of her life.
Maybe she does belong here after all...
"Stop looking so miserable and let's go get some caramel popcorn at the stand over there." I look to where she's pointing and a groan leaves my throat. Dragging my feet, I follow her
"Two caramel popcorn for the lovely couple." The old man puts on a friendly smile
Skylar looks at me in panic.
"Oh no no we're not a couple. We're just friends." Skylar corrects causing a small frown to appear on my face
"I'm sorry, that was my mistake." He half smiles looking directly at me
"Its okay. Have a nice day." I say and pull Skylar away by her arm
"Hey! Let go. What's wrong with you?" She pulls her arm away from my hold
I honestly don't know why I did that. I look for a perfect excuse but nothing pops up. I spot a bunch of clowns making balloon animals and decide to go with that.
"Sorry, i didn't mean to grab your arm like that. I just really want to see how balloon animals are made and I figured you would too." I lie
The confusion on her face vanishes and is replaced by a burst of laughter. I look at her, my face emotionless as she clutches her stomach
"Wow, who would've thought. Kendrick Gabriel would have fun at places like these."
I roll my eyes and walk towards the clowns not really interested on what's happening. Skylar soon joins me hooking her arm with mine. I look at her and she grins widely at me turning her focus back to the balloon animals that are being made
The rest of the circus pretty much goes the same. Skylar dragging me over to some silly things, buying stupid souvenirs that we don't even need and watching the five year old come out of Skylar.
We walk back to the car, Skylar rambling on and on about her adventures at the circus and that she's sad that it came to an end so quickly while we spent nearly the entire day there.
Females...
"I had so much fun today Ken, thank you. I honestly didn't think the circus would be that much fun." She gushes
"I'm glad you had fun. Although I do have to get you back for that little clown stunt that you did." I say sternly and she muffles a laugh.
"May I walk you to your door?" she archs her brow. "I'm doing it the old fashioned way." I say and she giggles
I get out of the car and go over to her side and open the door for her, taking her hand in mine helping her out. I close the door still holding onto her hand. We walk to her door in silence
"Thank you again for today. It was fun." She tells me as we reach the front door
"It was worth seeing your goofy side." I let out a low laugh and so does she
The laughter dies out and we are left just staring at one another. I decide to lean in and she does too. Our lips touch and I hold onto her waist and pull her closer almost deepening the kiss.
"You two better not be kissing on my front porch!" Paul yells from inside this breaking our kiss
"Goodnight Ken. My dad will personally come drag me inside if I don't go in now." Skylar laughs
I let out an awkward laugh. "Yeah, I'll see you." I kiss her on the cheek before I turn and walk to my car
She waits for me to get in, waving at me before she enters her house. I drive off with a smile playing on my lips
