Skylar's POV
"You know, the whole illegal fighting thing. You seriously didn't think I didn't know did you?" She whispers
"W-what, but how?" I nervously ask
How could she.. has Victoria told her perhaps? Did she finally get the evidence she needed to expose me to my friends?
"You remember the time we were hanging out at your house and I spilled sauce on my shirt then you told me to go to your room and find a top for myself?" She asks and I nod my head.
We were cooking up quite a meal that day for my dad because he was working till late and I wanted to surprise him.
"I couldn't find anything that I liked in your closet but I found a backpack and I thought maybe there could be something that will attract me. There wasn't any clothes but I did find a mask and some bandages. I didn't think much of it until one day when I was with Ray and he couldn't stop talking about how skilled SkyHigh is as a fighter. I asked him to show me a picture of SkyHigh and he showed me one of the night you fought with Kendrick. I saw the mask and instantly remembered seeing it in your room, I didn't tell Ray though don't worry about it. After that, I always paid attention. Whenever we wanted to hang out, you would say you had things to do and it would always be when SkyHigh had a match. That's when I put two and two together." She explains
Damn...
Wow, I'm impressed no lie. I'm at such a loss of words right now
"Also considering that your name is Skylar and your stage name is SkyHigh, it was an easy guess." She chuckles
"Yeah, I didn't really think that through." I chuckle "Why didn't you confront me about it though?" I curiously ask
I mean, she could've told anyone about her discovery but she chose to stay quiet.
"It was your secret to tell, not mine. I wanted you to tell me yourself when you were ready." She explains
Gabbriela is truly an amazing friend. I'm extremely lucky
"Yeah that was not going to happen anytime soon. Knowing my identity is huge Gabb and you should not tell anyone about it okay if this information gets into the wrong hands, things are not going to end well for all of us." I say covering my face with both my hands
"Why? Are you in some sort of a cliche mafia?" She laughs
Not ententirely but something like that. .
"Not exactly, it's hard to explain. Just don't tell anyone. I'm already trying to figure out a way to keep Vicky dear's mouth shut." I let out a frustrated groan
She looks at me eyes wide and I simply nod
"She's going to make your life hell Skylar, she already dislikes you." She says panic clear in her voice
Tell me about it..
"Don't worry about it. As long as she doesn't have any evidence to prove it, I'm good and so far she doesn't have any." I tell her and she eases a bit
"What are you going to do?" She asks and I shrug
Yeah, what am I going to do? Now that Gabby knows, I really need to take extra care about my identity. Who knows how many other people have figured it out. Randy will kill me, literally.
"All done!" The twins announce in unison taking me out of my thoughts
I smile at them and take the plates away coming back to wipe the counter
Karen walks in shortly after, looking around for Gabby and I. She sends an enthusiastic wave when she spots us
"I hope I'm not too late." She says as she takes her seat next to Gabby
"I'm surprised that you came at all considering your dislike towards miss 'I'm better than everyone' over there." Gabby says motioning her head towards Kelsey
A customer walks in and I look over to Kelsey who looks like she's not going to move from her relaxed position. I roll my eyes at her ridiculousness and grab my notebook and pen.
"I'll be right back." I excuse myself
I walk over to the middle-aged looking man and my eyes and heart nearly burst out of my body
It's Alph or whatever. The same guy that works for Ben from last night. All colour drains from my face as I approach him.
But wait, I don't need to feel any nervous considering that he never actually saw my face and he only ever heard my fake accent.
You can do this Skylar.. just stab him in the throat with your pen if he tries anything funny. ..
"Hi welcome to Asteroid's, I'll be your waitress what can I get you?" I ask with a convincing nervous smile plastered on my face
I refrain from telling him my name in case I run into him again, especially if he's going to be with Ben because remember Ben knows me as Galleria.
"I'll have donuts and coffee please. Two sugars." He says looking up from his menu and he's gaze turns to a confused one as he takes a good look at me
"Will that be all sir?" I ask trying to avert his focus incase he remembers me
"Yes that'll be all thanks." He smiles handing me the menu
Coffee, donuts? What is he, a cop? I shake that stupid thought away and appreciate that he didn't recognize me
"Coming right up sir." I say turning on my heel to go get his order
I come back shortly with his order and he mutters a 'thank you'
"I never got your name." He stops me in my tracks
"I never got yours either." I raise my eyebrow
"Where are my manners, Roberto Flavia." He sticks out his hand for me
Roberto? I thought he said he's name was Alph.
"Galleria. Pleasure to meet you." I say shaking his hand. "Excuse me, I must get back to work." I say walking away before he has a chance to say anything else
Maybe Alph is just an alias to protect his real name from the world. I mean being in a gang really calls for extra precaution but I do however want to know more and I know only two people that can help me with this.... Vince and Jones.
"We are leaving Astrid." I give my boss a wave after saying our goodbyes.
I was going to stay and lock up with Astrid but I didn't want to pass up on a free ride. The bus gets tiring at times to be honest.
"Dad I'm home!" I shout climbing the stairs to my room not waiting for a response.
I plop down on my bed relaxing my muscles a bit. Today was fairly busy but kept me on my feet, I won't be surprised if my feet want to detach themselves from my body.
I grab my phone and quickly dial Vince's number
"Is everything okay Skylar?" He asks as he answers
"Yeah, uh everything is fine but I need a favour." I tell him not wanting to waste time on small chitchat
"Anything, what's the trouble?" He asks sounding worried this time
No no, there is no trouble. Can you find out who Roberto Flavia is for me please? Karen asked me but my computer is acting up." I lie
"Yeah sure, hold on." He says and I hear shuffling on the other end "Roberto Flavia.. says here that was a member of the police force but died three years ago, plane crash." He finishes
He died?
"Are you sure?" I sit up
"Yeah, says it all here. Is there anything wrong?" he asks concern playing in his voice
I don't know Vince. All this just seems fishy to me
"No no, everything is fine I just needed to make sure. I don't want to give the wrong information to Karen that's all." I let out a chuckle
I know I shouldn't be lying to Vince but I know he'll probably tell me to not do anything and stay on high alert and that they'll take care of it but I want to be able to do things on my own and not always rely on them to fix everything.
"Alright Skylar, call me if you need anything else or if you are in any sort of trouble." He says.
I rub my sweaty palm against my jeans and refrain from sounding out of breath
"Alright thank you so much for your help." I smile even though he cannot see me. "By the way, when is Randy going to be back?" I change the topic
"Be patient Sky. I have to go, don't get yourself in unnecessary danger okay?" I mutter a not so promising yes. "we'll talk later."
I lay back down confused as ever. Did he fake his own death to work alongside Ben as Alph or maybe it's another Roberto Flavia. Whatever it is, it looks deeper than the surface
