(Third POV) school counselor

"You're not even French, are you?" Lydia asks snidely, staring at the counselor in front of her. "French-Canadian." Marin explains. "Which means you're a Canadian... who speaks French." Lydia says matter-of-factly.

"And, seeing as I'm placing my mental health in your hands, how about you tell me what, as a French teacher, qualifies you to be a guidance counselor?" Lydia asks again, sitting back in her chair.

"I have a master's in behavioral psychology and have done over three-hundred hours of field work." Marin says calmly. "Hm. ça va bien. [French: "It's fine."]" Lydia says in a fake happy manner.

"If you're really fine, what are you doing here?" Marin then counters. "Appeasing my parents so they don't take away my car keys." Lydia says, looking at her nails. "Have you talked to your friends about what happened to you? To your sister?" Marin asks, making Lydia look up at her.

"Yeah, they're great. Totally supportive." Lydia lies. "Do you trust them?" Marin then asks, making Lydia frown a bit. "Implicitly." She answers with a fake smile. "Good. But still, be cautious." Marin says.

"Why? Because sometimes, the people closest to you can be the ones holding you back the most?" Lydia asks, frowning at what she just said. "Indeed. Did you read that somewhere?" Marin asks her. "I don't know. Maybe I heard it." Lydia says, slouching back in her chair. "Well, sounds like whoever said it left an impression..." Marin says.

(Stiles POV) Beacon hills high school

I'm talking to Allison about the book we were looking for, having just ran from where Scott and Y/n were sitting. Allison looks at me and giggles, rubbing her forehead awkwardly. "I think you mean—" she begins, but I quickly interrupt her.

"No, I mean Bestiary. And the two of you? I don't want to know what's going on in your heads." I say, frowning at the girl in front of me. At least she and Scott make a good pair, thinking the same things and all.

"Okay, um... can you describe this thing?" Allison then asks, making me think. "Uh, it's probably like a book-- old, worn." I begin, making her raise an eyebrow at me. "...Like, bound in leather?" she suggests, making me nod. "Yes!" I exclaim.

"Seen her grandfather... with a book like that..." I say breathlessly to Scott and Y/n. I'm holding my side and panting from the distance I had just ran. I then run back to Allison, now heavily panting. "Where... does... he... keep it...?" I ask, wheezing a bit.

I then run back to Scott and y/n, now fully out of breath. I sit down next to them and y/n pats my back with worry. "She says... has to be... office..." I say wheezing again. "Do you want me to go back to her? You seem a little out of it..." y/n asks me. I stand back up and act like I was fine again. "Me? I can go on like this forever... trust me... I have great stamina." I say, seeing Scott facepalm at what I said.

I run back to Allison, now Inhaling from the inhaler I had gotten from Scott. "You know, drug dealers have been using disposable cell phones pretty successfully for years..." I say, looking at Allison through narrow eyes.

"My parents check every call, email, and text message I get. Trust me-- they'd find it." She says, making me shrug. "All right, can you get the book?" I ask, now regaining a normal breathing pattern. "Not without his keys." She then says matter-of-factly.

(Third POV) Lacrosse game

"I need to warn you, by the way-- you might need to be a little patient with me." Gerard says, sitting down on the bleachers. "How come?" Allison asks, sitting down next to her grandfather. "I'll probably have a lot of questions, seeing as I've never actually seen a lacrosse game before..." Gerard says, making Allison nod.

...

On the side of the field, Jackson is talking to Mark and Danny about the video tape. "What the hell is this? Dude, I thought I could trust you." Jackson yells appalled. Mark rolls his eyes and looks at Danny.

"Relax, it's my camera, okay? He just needed to ask me some questions." Mark says. "Mark is the one who found it, anyway." Danny explains, making Jackson raise his eyebrow. "Found what?" Jackson asks, now interested.

"There." Mark says, showing him his camera. "There what?" Jackson asks, annoyed that he doesn't see what they are referring to. "It's an edit point. It's been looped-- two hour's worth." Danny explains. "What does that mean?" Jackson asks, looking at both guys. "That means there's two hours of footage... missing." Mark says.

(Your POV) Parking lot.

I'm looking for Stiles, when I suddenly see my sister crying in her car. I walk over and knock on her window, making her look at me. She tries to wipe away her tears but is unsuccessful.

"Hey, Lydia, what's wrong?" I ask, worry in my voice. She tries to shield herself and act like I wasn't there. I walk over to the other side of the car and try opening the car door. "Lydia, come on..." I say, trying again to open the door. She looks over at me, new tears falling from her face.

"Just go away" she says, making me frown. "Lydia... I'm not leaving you here upset and alone... open the door and tell me what's wrong!" I say, looking at her through the window. I hear her sigh and unlock the doors, making me open the door quickly and sit myself down on the seat next to her. "What happened?" I ask again, she just shrugs.

"Look I'm fine ok... I don't need anyone seeing me cry." She then says, taking another tissue and holding it to her face. "Lydia... I'm your sister... I'm not just anyone. You don't have to put up a wall with me... you know I would never judge you, for anything that you do or say." I say, putting my hand on her shoulder. "Really?" she asks, looking at me through her tears.

"Of course! Just tell me why you're crying..." I say, making her sigh and shake her head again. "You're gonna think I'm crazy..." she says, making me frown at her. "Lydia, if you can trust me on anything, you can trust me on this-- there's nothing that you can say to me that'll make you sound crazy. Literally nothing!" I say, thinking back to everything that had already happened in my life.

"Can you just sit with me? I really don't want to talk about it right now... please don't make me talk." She says, putting her head in her hands and shakingly crying. "Ok, you don't have to." I say, pulling her into a side hug. She grabs a hold of me and starts crying into my shoulder, making me pat her on her back in a comforting manner.

(Stiles POV) Swimming pool

I'm walking in the school hallway, when suddenly a pair of hands grab a hold of me and pull me into the swimming pool area. The person pushes me into the room, and I stumble forward. When I look behind me, I can see Derek standing there, Erica next to him.

"Ah! Ah! AH!" I had exclaimed before I knew who had grabbed me. Derek rolls his eyes at me and Erica is just smiling. "Stiles." Derek says, making me frown at him. "Derek..." I say, a little awkwardly and with a small grin on my face.

"What did you see at the mechanic's garage?" Derek asks, a little impatiently. I nervously scratch the back of my head, looking between Derek and Erica. "Uh, several alarming EPA violations that I'm seriously considering reporting—" I try to say, but get interrupt by Derek shoving me and showing me his red eyes.

"Let's try that again." He says in a threatening manner. "All right, the thing was pretty slick looking. Um, skin was dark, kind of patterned. Uh, I think I actually saw scales." I begin, seeing Derek still looking at me impatiently. "Is that enough? Okay, because I've somebody I really need to talk to—" I say, trying to walk away, but get stopped by Derek who shoves me backwards again.

"All right, fine. Eyes... Eyes are, um, yellowish, and slitted. Um, has a lot of teeth... Oh, and it's got a tail, too! Are we good?" I ask, putting my hands in the air exasperatedly. I see Derek and Erica looking at me with wide eyes, which makes me frown.

"What? Wait, have you seen it? You have this look on your faces like you know exactly what I am talking about..." I say, seeing that Derek and Erica are not moving a muscle. I look behind me, to see the creature standing there. Derek shoves me behind him, and he then looks at Erica. "Run!" he yells, making her nod and run away.

The creature tries to jump at us, but Derek stops it. He claws at it and punches it in the stomach, making the creature claw at his neck. "Derek, your neck!" I say. He starts to lose feeling in his legs, making me grab him and keep him up. I start running with him leaning on me, trying to get away from the creature.

"Hey, come on. Where is it? Can you see it?" I ask, looking around us while I was still pulling Derek with me. "I can smell it. Please, hurry. Call Scott!" Derek yells. I grab my phone from my pocket, but it falls on the ground. When I try to grab it again, Derek falls from my grasp and lands into the pool with a scream.

I immediately jump in after him, grabbing a hold of him and pulling him back to the surface. He was now fully paralyzed, I was the only reason we were floating. I hook his arm over my head and look around for the creature. "Where did it go? Do you see it?" I ask Derek. He looks around as well as he could. "No." he says, making me sigh in relief.

"Okay, maybe it took off?" I ask. Just when I asked this, we can hear a loud noise from the creature, making me frown. "...Maybe not." Derek says sarcastically. I look at him and give him a pointed look.
