~Route 117~

Oh my gosh, it's hatching!

"Ash, get over here! It's hatching!" I yelled. I ran over to my satchel and dropped to my knees. Something small inside of it was wiggling and making noises. I carefully opened my satchel, and there, laying in a pile of broken shells, was a baby Pokemon. I had some grey plating on its head and back, and it had blue eyes that looked at me through the metal plate on its head. I tried to lift him up, but that little Pokemon was heavy! My Pokedex identified it as an Aron. It weighed over 130 lbs!

"A, Aron!" my new Pokemon squealed. He climbed out of my satchel and began to run around, trying to stretch his legs after a long time in the egg. At the sound of the baby Pokemon, Torchic came out of his Pokeball, and walked over to Aron. He gave the baby Pokemon a confused look, then poked him between the eyes. Aron scurried back, and hid underneath my satchel, shaking like a leaf.

"Torchic! Be nice!" I scolded. Torchic's head dropped, and went over to Aron, probably to apologize. Or whatever it is Pokemon do to console each other. I started thinking to myself, and I wondered: why would Aron hatch just after a week or so?

"Hey, Brock, why did the egg hatch so soon? I only got it about four or five days ago." I asked. Brock got a closer look at Aron.

"Well, Red, it looks like Aron has been in the egg for a pretty long time before your mom gave it to you. Maybe now that you've been walking around with it and it had Torchic to give it some warmth, the hatching process sped up. That, and the fact that I'm a master breeder." Brock explained with a grin.

"Yup. That's the reason." Ash muttered under his breath. I turned to see Aron and Torchic running around the field chasing each other. I was ready to let out Poochyena, but then a new thought hit me. Seeing as I hadn't actually caught Aron yet, I took a Pokeball from my bag, walked over to the jubilant pair of Pokemon, and tapped Aron on the head with it. The ball shook a few times, then there was a click and my new baby Pokemon was officially mine! I let him out right away after seeing the pitiful look on Torchic's face after I took away his new friend.

I didn't want to make Aron battle right away, but he showed me some of the moves that he knew. He showed me Mud Slap, Headbutt, and Metal Claw. I was surprised that Aron knew all those moves as a baby, but Brock explained that sometimes the adult Pokemon can pass some moves down to a baby Pokemon.

We all let our Pokemon out to play. Pikachu was dubbed "it" by the other Pokemon, and thus a game of tag was started, but they soon found out that Pikachu's speed was too much for them, especially Aron. The poor baby was still figuring out how to walk right! After an hour or so, I suggested that me and Brock should finish our battle, and he agreed.

"Alright Poochyena, back on the field!" I told my partner.

"You too Graveler!" Brock shouted from the other side of the field. The two Pokemon stared each other down for a few seconds, then the battle began for real.

"Graveler, Rock Throw!" Brock commanded. Graveler picked up a rock and hurled it at Poochyena.

"Okay, dodge it!" I said just in time. After Poochyena side-stepped and dodged the rock, I said "Tackle, let's go!".

"You too, Graveler!" Brock said, clearly frusturated after Rock Throw's failure. The two Pokemon met in midair, and both were thrown back in the dirt.

"Let's go again! Bite!" I called. Poochyena grabbed hold of Graveler and swung him around. Graveler landed in he dirt a few yards away. Boy, Poochyena's Bite had gotten stronger! I was shocked that he could even lift Graveler!

"Graveler, Magnitude" Brock told Graveler. He began to make the ground shake, and Poochyena couldn't keep solid footing. My poor buddy was tossed around like a ragdoll. After a few seconds, the shaking stopped. Just when Poochyena was starting to get up, a large boulder slammed into him. Poochyena flew backwards, and skidded for about 30 feet before he came to a stop. By the look on his face, I could easily tell that he was knocked out.

"Nice job Poochyena, come back," I said gratefully. Then, Torchic hopped in front of me, ready to battle.

"Torchic, Ember!" I said, determined not to lose this time. Torchic's Ember barely even left a mark on the Rock type.  Then I remembered: Fire type moves do pretty much nothing against Rock types. Crap.

"Alright, try a Tackle!" I instructed. Torchic rammed into Graveler, this time doing some damage. Graveler was knocked off his feet, but he got right up. It seemed like Torchic would have a tough time against Roxanne.

"Graveler, Rock Tomb!" Brock yelled. Graveler surrounded my Torchic with some tall boulders. My buddy was trapped!

"Great! Now use Gyro Ball!" Brock said, a look of victory on his face.

"Not so fast!" I countered, "Ember, straight up Torchic!". The Ember blocked Graveler's attack well enough.

"Torchic, get out of there!" I shouted frantically. Graveler jumped again, ready to launch another attack. Torchic found a soft spot in the ground and dug a hole out of the Rock Tomb. I had Torchic use Tackle and Peck a few more times, but he couldn't dodge the Rock Tomb forever. A well aimed Rock Throw left both my Pokemon fainted. I called Torchic back, then began to congratulate Brock. Just as we shook hands, Aron popped out of my satchel that was lying on the ground. He walked up to Graveler, who was still out of his Pokeball. Aron growled, clearly looking to pick a fight.

"I think that Aron wants to battle, Leo!" Brock commented.

"I think so. Well Aron, do ya?" I asked. Aron gave me a determined nod, and me and Brock took our places on the battlefield (again).

"Aron, Mud Slap!" I called out. Aron kicked up a lot of mud in Graveler's face.

"Great! Now use Metal Claw while he can't see!" I said quickly. Aron clawed Graveler in the face, causing the Rock type to recoil and retreat a few yards back. Graveler tossed a rock at Aron, and he didn't react in time. Aron got back up and stood his ground. I could tell some speed training was in order.

"Magnitude!" Brock told Graveler.

"Don't give it that chance! Headbutt!" I yelled, hoping that my buddy could get an attack off in time. Sure enough, Aron's metal head rammed into Graveler and sent him flying. When the dust cleared, Brock declared him unable to continue.

"Yeah! Nice job buddy!" I said as Aron came running back towards me. His face showed more than a thousand words. Ladies and gentlemen, the face of a happy baby Pokemon is enough to light up anyone's day. He tried to jump into my arms, but he knocked me over in the process. I laid there on the grass laughing my face off while Aron was trying to lick it. Eventually, he settled down and proceeded to lay down. On my stomach (if you didn't catch that, that is 132.3 lbs of Aron laying on me).

~Later~

"Leo, Leo! Wake up!" someone yelled. I yawned and looked around. Aron was laying down right beside me, still fast asleep. I could tell I was somewhere dark, but where?

"Crap... what's happening?" I said groggily. I sat up, and the motion woke up Aron.

"Leo, come on! We gotta go!" Ash said, poking me quite harshly. I finally got a good look around, and I saw that Brock and Ash set up a tent around where me and Aron fell asleep.

"Why? What's happening?" I asked. Now I was getting worried.

"There's a tornado coming towards us!" Ash urgently while pointing outside. I got up and took a look at the clouds forming in the distance. Storm clouds were racing towards us from the north, letting off lightning at random intervals. I squinted, and I could better see an angry swirl of clouds coming towards us, traveling with the lightning. Holy crap! I thought, I slept through this?!

"Come Leo, let's go already!" Brock yelled. I stood up and returned Aron to his Pokeball to keep him safe. We all helped to hastily pack the tent that Brock brought along. When we got all our stuff together, Ash, Brock, and I sprinted up the path to Verdanturf.

~Pokemon Center, Verdanturf Town~

"Attention citizens of Verdanturf Town! Please find shelter immediately! Take your family to a low level in your houses and keep all Pokemon in their Pokeballs!" rang Nurse Joy's voice over the emergency town intercom.

The Pokemon Center was the poster child of chaos. There were people and Pokemon everywhere. Kids were screaming, parents were yelling at them to quit it, and everyone and their Pokemon were on edge. Ash had told me that nothing like this ever happens in Hoenn, and that the weather usually doesn't permit for funnel clouds or even tornadoes.

I crept my way through the crowd of restless people until I found a window that gave me a good look at the tornado. I looked at the clouds more closely, and I saw something that made me look twice. I caught a glimpse of something blue floating in front of the clouds, almost leading them. The thing had a spikey tail, and it appeared to be sitting on a pile of white clouds among the pitch black storm clouds. Ash found his way over to me, and looked out the window as well. He held up his Pokedex, and frowned. I couldn't hear the robotic voice of his Pokedex over the loud drone of the crowd. Ash looked outside again, then back at the screen of his Pokedex.

"Leo... look at this..." Ash said quietly. By the look on his face, I could tell that something was wrong. Also, I had a feeling that Ash had dealt with something like this before. I looked over his shoulder, and what I saw on his Pokedex made my jaw drop as low as a Blissey's attack stat.

>>> Being a writer is like being a god. I hate to leave off on a cliffhanger, but this chapter was writers block at its finest. Anyway, what do you all think of Aron? Baby Pokemon are amazing! Comment and keep voting and reading! (Make sure to look back at other chapters... I edit them a lot) Until next time! (P.S, If you all want to chip in, we can pay for a Burn Heal for Blissey).
