september quickly came to an end and before anybody knew it, it was homecoming week. the gang weren't the most school-spirited at parkside, but they weren't against all the peppiness some made an effort to participate in.

as much as some of they denied or "hated" it, they'd still go to the football game and the dance the night after. they tried the whole anti-prom or anti-hoco freshman year, since none of them were too excited on the idea with being in a new school. however that idea didn't exactly pull through; even kesley went to the dance last minute in her dress, though the whole week before she said she wouldn't go.

although this year, all of them agreed they'd participate in every little thing this week all the way up to the dance saturday night. monday was pajama day, the only day where almost everyone took part in.

before first period, all the boys were nowhere to be found. corbyn drove savannah and rowyn to school, but once they got out of the car he went his separate ways. jack had already asked kesley to homecoming, even if his ask was the simplest one ever. corbyn and jonah were already going with their girlfriends, and jonah even ran for homecoming king for fun.

last year for sophomore, daniel and savannah went together as friends since neither of them had dates. a kid from rowyn's science class had asked her to go, and she felt bad if she said no. however this year, everyone but row knew that daniel would be asking her this year.

"i'm so sick of this shit, what are we even supposed to do?" kesley whispered to savannah, the two of them in the library. they were in study hall, which was basically a free period. normally they'd spend this time doing whatever they wanted, but they had a psychology project to get done.

savannah kept researching for her project which was on child psychology, "where have you been this past week? you know this is due tomorrow." the two of them in any class together called for trouble. they were never able to pay attention and were infamous for cramming and procrastinating together.

"no," the girl whined, "so do i just talk about...i don't know, help me out here sav." the blonde slid her notebook over to kesley who skimmed through all the notes.

"we're partners on this remember? we're doing child psychology." she informed her.

"yeah 'cause that makes sense." before they could get any more work done, the bell rang and they had their last class of the day. for savannah, it was spanish, and kesley had gym. they went their separate ways where sav bumped into zach who was going the same direction as her. he wore his red flannel pajamas with a grey 'dallas' sweatshirt.

"sorry-"

"my bad-"

both of them laughed, walking side by side towards their class. bulletin boards and posters for homecoming covered the halls along with the overload of blue and yellow decorations for sprit week.

zach nodded his head over to one of the banners and point at it, "so are you going?"

savannah looked at him and raised a brow, "homecoming? of course i am, you?"

"maybe." he shrugged, "i didn't go to this kind of things in my old school."

"let me guess, too cool or some stupid reason like that?" the blonde teased. they stopped at their class and zach opened the door for her as they walked inside to their seats.

he shook his head as he took the worksheets off the front desk, "nah just not interested." savannah took the papers too, both of them going to the back of the classroom where their seats were.

"and now?"

zach looked at the girl next to him and grinned teasingly, "i'll think about it." their teacher stood up in front of the class as she started going over the work for today, ending their conversation.

once class ended, zach was held after but savannah decided to wait for him outside in the hall. the brunette walked over to his teacher's desk where she was sitting, her grade book open to his name.

"you're failing my class." she told him, "if you wanna pass the quarter, you're gonna need to get an 100 on this exam and your quarterly if you want to pass, entiéndeme?"

zach nodded his head, even though he wasn't sure what that last word meant. she dismissed him with a wave of her hand as he walked out of the classroom to see savannah leaned back against the lockers waiting for him.

"what was that all about?"

the two walked side by side out to the front of the school where the rest of the group was waiting for them. "nothing, i'm just missing some assignments from her." more like all assignments-

"oh that sucks, well señora's pretty lenient though so maybe she won't take off that many points."

the boy shrugged, changing the subject. "probably, anyways i gotta head to practice see ya." he ran off to some other boys from the soccer team, leaving savannah alone to walk to her friends. she saw two big smiles plastered on daniel and rowyn's faces, rowyn a light shade of pink.

"don't tell me i missed it." she groaned, the two of them nodded with slight guilt. "oh whatever, i'm just happy this man finally had the guts to ask." she smiled happily, genuinely glad for her friends. now everyone had a date for homecoming, except her.

jack wiggled his brows and nodded at savannah, "so did sir herron ask you to hoco yet?"

the blonde made a sour face, "no? we're not even friends like that."

"sure." he said back, not believing any of the words that just came out of her mouth. removing his arm which was around kesley, jack tightened his backpack strap and excused himself, "well i'm out, if i'm late i'm running an extra lap today." he told the group as he walked away for practice.

jonah and corbyn had already left for a senior event at the local diner, leaving the three girls still at the school. savannah's practice got cancelled for the day since her coach was out sick, and kesley was the only one who was able to drive well and owned a car.

while they walked over to kesley's car, rowyn continued the homecoming topic. "did you guys get dresses yet? i've only gone window shopping so far." taking shotgun, savannah put her bag by her feet and fastened her seatbelt.

kesley started the engine, "i'm just wearing a dress i got for my birthday and haven't used yet."

"i haven't even looked at dresses yet." savannah admitted, homecoming wasn't exactly the first thing on her mind these days.

"alright then it's settled, we're going to the mall." the dark haired girl announced, backing out of the parking lot and putting in the directions to the local mall. out of all of them, savannah liked shopping the least. well she didn't like shopping for herself, but for others she enjoyed it.

kesley always said she hated shopping, but then she ends up buying the most stuff. and then rowyn just likes going to the mall in general even if she leaves empty handed. after about 20 minutes, they got to the modern building and its packed parking lot and went straight to the food court.

once they finished eating, kesley brought them to the store she got her homecoming dress last year since they really liked that one. "alright let's see if there's anything here."

the girls looked at dresses for what seemed like hours, but in reality was only 20 minutes. savannah got out of the dressing room in a black strapless dress that was flowy on the bottom. it was simple, but elegant and brought out her natural beauty.

"that's the one, that's it." kesley told her immediately. rowyn nodded her head in agreement, with her dress already in hand.

sav looked in the mirror and checked her reflection, "really?" she wasn't 100% sure on how she liked it since it was something out of her comfort zone, but at the same time she loved how it looked.

"yes really." rowyn assured her, eventually convincing her to buy the dress. as they walked out of the store, savannah felt her phone vibrate in her pocket.

zach — ok i thought about it and
zach — do you have a date for hoco?

a warm smile appeared on her face as she replied back to him, telling him no and waited for his response. seeing the happy look on her face, kesley and rowyn glanced at each other then back to the girl.

"who texted?" kesley asked.

sav shook her head and put her phone away in her pocket, "no one." she told them simply, deciding she'd keep this news to herself for now.
