"I'm just sayin Lani, if not now then when? You just gotta give me some kinda time frame" scooter told me while we sat in ihop, waiting on our server to come like we've been doing for the past 10 minutes
"Where is our server? I'm hungry" I complained, switching the topic because I really didn't wanna talk about this right now. I just wanted to eat
"Shit, they need to hurry up.. aye" he tapped the arm over the girl walking past "we been here bout 10 minutes. Where our server at?"
"I'll go get her for you" the girl replied before going to get our server. I looked at the menu again feeling scooter look at me
"Whatchu getting?" I asked him before he could even mention a damn wedding again
"Steak and eggs. Whatchu want?"
"Some strawberry banana pancakes, bacon, eggs.. Ouu and French toast sticks"
Scooter laughed while shaking his head
"I apologize for the wait it's my first day-.." Kayla said as she came over to our table and stopped when she looked up
"You're our server?" I asked
"Laniiii" scooter chuckled
"I'm just asking a question. Cause I remember you worked at that dress shop"
"I quit"
"You quit before or after they fired you for losing my sisters dress on purpose"
"Milaniiii" scooter tried to shut me up but I was just asking a simple question. Kayla rolled her eyes
"I'm not about to do this witchu. You wanna order of not?"
"You gone spit in my food?"
"Ah hell come on" scooter laughed as he stood up "we bout to go don't even worry bout it"

"I just had to make sure she wasn't tryina poison us. You know some people hold grudges.. obviously"
Scooter grabbed my hand and pulled me behind him as we left out of ihop. When we got in the car he looked at me
"You and that mouth"
"What? You think I'm supposed to like that girl and trust her around my food"
"I ain said you had to like her but we was hungry"
"And I'll starve before I trust her with anything I gotta eat. I prefer Waffle House anyways"
"I bet so" he sighed before starting the car and we left. I looked out of the window while he drove and felt his hand on my thigh. My phone started ringing so I looked down and saw an unknown number calling. I wasn't gonna answer it at first but I just graduated from school a couple of weeks ago so I'm waiting for jobs so I can start a paralegal job. I answered the phone and held it to my ear
"Hello"
"Hi, is this Milani Mitchell?"
"Yes"
"Hi milani. My name is Victoria and I am calling because our office is interested in offering you a job as a family law paralegal"
"Wait, Forreal?" I asked with a smile and she laughed
"Yes forreal. You'll start at 22 an hour plus health and dental insurance, weekends, holidays and birthdays off. How does that sound to you?"
"Great"
"I was hoping. Well how about this. Are you available anytime next week to come in, that way we can talk some more and hopefully get you in our system"
"Tuesday is actually good with me"
"Okay then! That's actually perfect. What about 9 am?"
"Okay"
"Well 9 it is. And we can go over anything you need and you'll also get to meet the lawyer you'll be working for, mr lakes. Trust me he's a pleasur-"
"I'm sorry, I didn't hear that correctly.. mr who?"
"Mr Lakes.. Anthony Lakes"
What the fuck... my heart dropped when she repeated his name. Out of all of the lawyers in the world.. I get a job offer from karma's daddy
"Well I will see you Tuesday at 9"
"Great" I told her before hanging up and dramatically sighed
"That sounded like a job.. why you don't look happy?" Scooter asked me
"It is.. but I'd be working for karma's daddy"
"Oohhh.. so Whatchu gone do about that? Take it or no"
"It's a good offer..but, I don't know if I can do kay like that"
"I feel you on not wanting to seem like you turning on yo sister and shit.. but remember you gotta think about you too Lani. Do what's best for you and not just what gone make karma happy"
"I'm not gone base my decision off off Kay. But I also know that that's my only sister and I don't wanna mess up this bond we've built over the past 5 years"

"I know. But I'm saying too. And plus think about it. He knows who I am... ima just have to reallyyyyy think"

I looked at scooter like he was crazy
"Why you gotta look like that? Karma might have been a little mo- actually she been moody as hell lately"
"Well she did have twins not even a whole year ago"
"Well she still moody as hell. But she is an understanding person"
"I just.." I sighed again "I'll see"
"You got till Tuesday Lani. Make some happen"
I went back to looking out the window feeling scooter move his hand from my thigh and he grabbed my hand as he continued driving
Karma

"Keyshawn momma talkin bout after he get out they want Azaria back and that she'll hire the best lawyer to make sure that happen. Like no! Hell no! Can they even do that?" London ranted since she came over here to tell me about Keyshawn possibly getting out in December
"I don't think so but I'm not sure"
"Well what am I supposed to do just in case kay?!"
"London. I don't know. I work in a doctors office. Not a law office. Ain't yo daddy a lawyer?" I asked her and she looked at me some type of way
"That's your daddy too"
"The only man I call daddy is upstairs sleep"
"Sleep at 1 o'clock?"
"We in a empty house until tomorrow afternoon. Sleep and sex. That's all we been doing since we dropped the kids off yesterday"

"It's great actually. But still at the same time I be missing my babies"
"Well I'm bout to go. I wasn't supposed to stay over here long anyways. I just came to vent after I dropped Azaria off"

"For the night and that's it" she told me while standing up "ima text you later. Y'all enjoy y'all alone time. Don't make nomore babies"
"Girl I'm done with that. I got on that shot asap"
London laughed before she finally left and I headed back upstairs. I walked in the room seeing Benji was now up and he was typing on his phone before stopping to look over at me
"Yo sister gone?"
"How you knew that was her. I thought you was sleep"
"It's quiet as hell and she talk loud"
I laughed and walked over to the bed, got under the covers and on top of Benji straddling his lap
"Tell whoever you texting you gotta go" I said to Benji while I grabbed his phone out of his hand and locked it before sitting it down then started kissing him.
My phone started ringing causing me to curse out loud while Benji just sucked his teeth
"Somebody better be dying or some cause I told EVERYBODY to leave us alone this weekend" I fussed while I reached over and grabbed my phone off of the charger where I left it, seeing Lani FaceTiming me
"Should've known it was gone be yo sisters" Benji told me and I rolled my eyes before answering her call
"Yes milani"
"I know I wasn't supposed to bother you all weekend but I REALLLLYYYYY gotta talk to you about something"
"What happened?"
"So I gotta job offer this morning..."
I felt how Benji stared at me but I just continued to look on the camera
"Why you don't sound happy about it"
"I mean it's good money, it comes with good perks and stuff but the only thing is it's your dad's law firm that offered me the job"

"I know. And I know that it's gonna be-"
"Lani.." I cut her off knowing she was feeling bad about something she should not be feeling bad about "take the job"
"Huh?"
"I ain lyin... huh" Benji said as well and I laughed a little
"You said it's good money with good perks. It sounds to me like you wanna be happy about it so be happy and take the job. What me and that man got going on should not affect your career choices"
"I just don't have time for him mixing business and personal"
"So shut him down as soon as he says something outside of business. Look, I've seen how hard you worked to get through school and this is exactly what you wanted. Do it. I'm genuinely happy for you Lani"
Lani smiled a little in the camera which made me do the same thing "you sure kay"
"Yes I'm sure. If you wanna take that job then take it. And as a matter of fact we'll celebrate after you get it too.. everything on Benji"
"The hell" Benji blurted out and Lani laughed
"Well thank you kay. I'll talk to you later. Y'all finish what y'all was doing"
"I will with pleasure" I replied before hanging up . As I put my phone down Benji got on top of me and started kissing down my neck but I ended up pushing him away
"I hope and pray that he hired Lani for the right reasons cause if not and he do something to piss my sister off I'll kill him Dimitri"
"Lani good"
"I know but ion play about my sister and she sounded so happy" I whined as he started kissing on me again "I swear he make me wanna-"
"Cry" Benji said and I looked at him with my face frowned up
"You tryina call me a crybaby?"
"I mean.. shit"
"Fuck you benji"
"That's what I'm tryina do but you wanna talk about to dumbass daddy. Fuck him"
"You right" I agreed "but it's just.. my sister is really a big piece of the reason why I'm where I'm at now, and also why me and you together. She deserves the world and-"
"And we can talk about it later. We supposed to be fuckin right now"
"You right. And from this point forward we ain answering nomore calls"
"Bet" he responded while pulling me back on his lap and took off the tank top I wore, kissing down my chest and my phone rung again
"What the fuckkkk" I groaned
"Man decline that shit and turn yo phone off" Benji fussed so I grabbed my phone and saw it was momma calling
"Hold on, hold on" I told Benji and he sucked his teeth "nigga this my momma.... hello" I answered while standing up and walking off while I spoke to my mom leaving Benji in the room talking shit
