Chapter Four

Am i losing my best friend?

For the next week Luna would only hang around with Riley. It was getting kind of scary; she wouldn't come with us to the mall that weekend. It was about a couple of weeks after the fight with the humans and Luna had first started going out with Riley.  When she was around she would be really anxious and only talk about him.

That was it I was going to talk to her about this wether she liked it or not. So I headed out to find her that Friday, right before school she always got up really early got dressed and ready for school and went over to Riley's room to hang out with him before school and during lunch and after school until curfew then they would hug for a really long time and then they would head to their dorms reluctantly. So once I hand found her she was sitting on a bench near the trackers dorm which was very small and only help maybe 

10- 15 students. They were sitting there looking into each other's eyes like nothing else mattered. Then I cleared my throat and their heads snapped up. "What are you doing here Dixie?" Luna asked. I rolled my eyes and said "I need to talk to you know if that's ok?" she

Looked at Riley and he nodded so she said "sure what do you want to talk about?" I really didn't want to embarrass her in front of her first boyfriend "I need to talk to you alone if you don't mind," she looked at Riley again and he nodded as if he had all the power and authority over her. So she stood up and we walked far enough away so that we were out of his hearing distance. "So what do you want to me about?" Luna asked. So I said "I'm not the only one who thinks this, we all do but you're spending too much time with Riley, your neglecting all of your friends and your responsibilities." She looked at me shocked as if I had just spoke pig Latin. Then she finally said "Are you jalousie Dixie? Cause that seems like that it is to me." I coughed and said "Jealous of a tracker please and if you don't believe me ask the others, he is taking over your life Luna. Even Sookie and I weren't that bad when we had our first boyfriend but you just don't see anyone else but him, not even your best friends. Sookie recons we should call your parents and tell them what is going on with you. But I told her that we didn't need to, I stood up for you, Luna, and you're yelling at me for caring about you. What are you going to do if he dumps you and breaks your heart?" She looked honestly hurt so I just walked away from her and headed back to my dorm to get my things ready for school while she stood there staring after me, but after a moment she turned around and headed back to sit with Riley it looked like she was crying. Oh great, now I was going to get it from a whole load of trackers. There goes trying to be a good friend. When I got back to the dorm I only had time to grab my bag and run down stairs before Sookie and Sky left the dorm to go to class. "Where were you this morning Dixie?" asked Sookie.

"I went to go and talk with Luna." I replied. They looked at me in astonishment we had talked about talking to her but we never had actually talked to her about it. We didn't talk the rest of the way to class. Once we got there it was only seconds after we sat down that Luna walked in hand in hand with Riley. She didn't look totally over what I had said only 20 minutes before. Then as they sat down the teacher walked in and told us what we were going to be doing today. And then the day went like a blur until after school where I found myself walking back to the dorm with Sookie and Sky they were going on about the fact that we had got an English assignment and that we didn't need one let alone any homework. Once we had put our stuff in our room. I told them "I'm just going for a walk. I'll be back in a little while I just want to clear my head." They said almost in union "Ok, take your mobile just in case you need to reach us or we need to reach you." So I took my phone and walked downstairs and out towards the woods was I liked to walk when I needed to clear my head. I was walking peacefully when I heard a noise come from behind me I didn't have enough time to react before I was on the floor and Riley was on top of me punching me in the face and then he got up when he knew I couldn't move too much and started kicking me in the stomach. And then there was another sound from behind me and then I was kicked in the back and I couldn't move my legs at all and then they just stood there staring at me and the Riley said "Don't go any were near Luna apart from when you're in your dorm room or I will kill you next time, got that?!" I just stared at him in astonishment and then I nodded. When he and his friend walked away I reached into my pocket and pulled out my mobile and dialled Sookie's number. She answered and said "Hey Dixie" all I could say at that moment was "I need your help I'm in the forest and I can't move my legs." She paused for a moment and I heard her put her shoes on and yell at Sky to get as much first aid as possible into a bag and run down stairs and tell Quinn to go and tell Hunter that I needed help and that I was in the forest. Then she said to me "Try and get to a tree and sit up leaning your back on the tree for support." Then she hung up. About 20 minutes later I saw a light coming towards me (because it was dark now) and I yelled at the top of my lungs "I'm here" Then there were running footsteps getting closer. Then there were about 9-10 gasps of horror then I heard a crack and I could tell that Hunter was punching a tree then Sookie said as calmly as possible, "That's not going to help you know, Hunter, I need you to pick Dixie up and help me get her to the Sick bay so that a doctor can look at her." Then he was at my side and he was picking me up I screamed out in pain and he whispered in my ear "It's going to be okay, Dixie, we are going to get you to the sick bay so they can help you." I just leaned my head on his chest and fell asleep.

When I woke up all my friends were there either standing or sitting in the sick bay room that I was in. Hunter was pacing along the back wall next to the door with Quinn trying to calm him down. And the Sookie said "She's awake!" And Hunter was next to me in a flash and he had my hand in his. Then he asked "Who did this to you Dixie?" Then that night popped into my mind and I winced in pain and said "It was Riley and a friend I didn't get a good look at him, he was kicking me in the back. And Riley threatened to kill me if I went anywhere near Luna again apart from when we are in our dorm room." They all started at me in shock I looked at Hunter, then my eyes flickered to Quinn's face, then to Auby's, then to Annabelle's, then to Abby's, then to Sky's face. But when I looked at Sookie's face all I saw was anger and pure hatred and I knew in a second who to......Riley. Then Luna walked into my room closely followed by Riley, I hissed in outrage and so did everyone else then Hunter walked over to Riley and grabbed the front of his shirt and yelled at him "Who the hell do you think you are? Look what you have done, you impotent fool! That there is Wyne-Dixie Star, she has put her life on the line to save your idiotic ass and she is to be the next Beta of the Wolf pack, that puts there life on the line to make sure we can all live normal lives and not get killed by humans. And you would have killed her!" When we was done ranting and raving at Riley. He didn't put him down on his feet. Luna yelled at him "Put Riley down he has done nothing wrong, if you want to point the finger at someone point in at your beloved Wyne-Dixie. She came up to me yesterday and told me that I was spending too much time with Riley and then she walked away from me." She scowled at me and I just yelled "I was trying to tell you what the truth is. That's what friends do but obviously we aren't friends anymore so you might as well leave." Then she looked at me in shock and said "I came here to see if you were okay and you point the blame of the person who did this to you at Riley." Then I was really mad and yelled at her as loud as I could "That's because he was the one who did this to me then he had the nerve to threaten me to stay away from you. Well, Riley, I have one thing to say to you, as soon as I am out of this bed and I am able to change into a wolf again you better be ready to say goodbye to your pretty face and maybe I wouldn't even give you a warning maybe I'll just kill you myself." Luna looked at me in astonishment then looked at Riley who was staring at me in horror and she asked him "Is what she says true?" Then he looked down to her then back to me and I raised my eyebrow. Then he yelled "Yes, I did do this to her only because she hurt you." I snorted and he took her hands in his and she snatched her hands out of his and she backhanded him. Then Hunter still holding Riley up in the air by his shirt, walked over to me kissed me on the forehead (where it wasn't bruised) and said "I'll be back in the minute me and Quinn are going to take Riley here to the headmaster." I nodded to him and he and Quinn walked out of the room Hunter still holding Riley in the air. "I'm so sorry to all of you guys especially you, Dixie, you were just trying to warn me and you end up in the sick bay." Luna apologized to all of us.
