I sit waiting, knowing that eventually, you will be relaxing. Having a bath, reading a book or even watching T.V. and you will remember me sitting alone on the windowsill or on a shelf, so you get up and light me. I fill the room with beautiful scents of cinnamon, lavender or spruce, I will lull you into a false sense of security. Then it's my time to shine as I catch a curtain you have left too close or a cloth that is just in my reach, then within seconds, I am slowly burning down your house as you run around panicking. Wondering how you can put me out as I catch the gas stove you left on and I am unstoppable.

I am a candle trapped in a cruel world that brings joy and destruction to others.
