𝑨 𝑵𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑻𝑳𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑻 𝑪𝑼𝑩 crouched behind a bush, its eyes trailing a frog that settled itself comfortably on a lily pad. Her nose wiggled as she sniffed the area around her, taking note of her surroundings.

The other day, she caught her dad hunting for their dinner and became fascinated with the idea of hunting for herself. She repeatedly asked him to teach her and she would always get "When you're older." as an answer.

She couldn't wait until she was older! She'd be old and wrinkly by the time her dad would teach her to hunt.

But he never said she couldn't teach herself.

Her claws kneaded the ground beneath her and her ear flaps flattened against her head, the bottom half of her body wiggling. Her pupils dilated and just when she was about to pounce -

WHACK

She squeaked and pounced at the frog but missed it completely. The frog was able to jump out of the way before the cub could reach it.

Coalcap rolled around and laughed like a hyena, right where his sister was before she jumped. Rising to the top of the water, Blacklight spits out the water that had made its way into her mouth. She glared at her laughing brother.

"Y-You have a lily pad on your head!"

Her glare faltered for a split second, Blacklight looked up and saw that there was indeed a lily pad on her head. She growled and ripped the lily pad off, making her way toward land.

Launching forward, she collided with her brother and latched onto him so he couldn't escape without struggling. "Stop laughing!" She growled, but couldn't help but giggle with him.

The laughter bouncing through the forest quickly turned into panicked screams once they realized they were rolling down a hill way faster than they could handle.

They weren't able to still their vision no matter how hard they tried, only being able to see the blur of the trees, bushes, grass, and the occasional terrible terror that wondered why there was so much ruckus.

Both Blacklight's and Coalcap's eyes were rolling painfully, trying to keep up with their surroundings. Coalcap's face began to tint an ugly green color. Blacklight closed her eyes to somewhat relieve the dizziness that waved over her and tried to dig her paws into the dirt to stop them from rolling.

Blacklight's attempts were in vain, however, when Coalcap interrupted her attempts every time he had to roll under her. Blacklight opened her eyes and huffed, trying to look back at her brother. "Coalcap--"

They were interrupted when the air was forcefully knocked out of their lungs when they ran into something hard. Taking a moment to recollect themselves, they looked up and were met with a large white dragon that looked somewhat similar to them.

"Daddy!"

Blacklight jumped to her feet excitedly, accidentally stepping on her brother and running circles around the much larger dragon. "You should've seen it, I was so awesome! So, you know how you said--" the small dragon rambled, trying to climb its way onto the dragon's back.

You sighed, looking from Blacklight to Coalcap, who was still laying on your paws. Coalcap was laying limp with his tongue sticking out. He'd look like roadkill if his chest wasn't moving with each of his breaths.

You plucked Coalcap from his spot on the ground and placed him on your back, with Blacklight soon following. Turning away, you head off into the direction of your cave, not bothering to try and interrupt the talkative nightlight.

Blacklight was somehow still rambling about what had gone down before they ran into you. Coalcap eventually grew bored of pretending to be dead - trying, and failing to guilt trip his sister - and looked at the surroundings that passed by as you walked as if he hadn't already memorized every rock around your cave from running around them so many times.

Maneuvering around and climbing over the rocks, you jumped off of a particularly large rock and continued walking forward, to see a thick bundle of trees. Picking up the pace, you swiftly moved through the trees, startling a dragon or two.

In front of you lay a large field of grass with a lake sitting in the middle. You almost sighed in relief when you realized Blacklight would have to finish her rambling when you bring up the idea of a bath.

Seeing as the two pups just rolled around in dirt and leaves for Odin knows how long, they'll need it.

You stalked up to the body of water, unaware if there was anyone already occupying it. Standing still for a moment, the two pups following your actions, your ear flaps raised by instinct and you sniffed around, trying to find any potential danger.

Not finding any, you relaxed and approached the lake. "Bath time," you said, catching the two pups off guard when you dunked them both into the water.

"WHA--"

Coalcap rose above the water before his sister. "Agh-- daddy! I can't swim! Save me!" he whined. You shook your head and sighed.

"You can stand in the water, Coalcap."

He looked like he had a moment of realization and looked down, only to see that he could touch the bottom.

"...Oh."

"Wook, vav! I caugh one!" ("Look, dad! I caught one!") Blacklight slurred, poking her head out of the water to reveal a happy pup with a fish in her mouth. You stepped into the water, being mindful not to accidentally step on any fish. "Very good, Blacklight."

She opened her mouth to cheer, momentarily forgetting about the fish, and accidentally dropped it back into the lake, letting it swim away.

Blacklight was staring blankly at the water in front of her while Coalcap was teasing her. Unfortunately for Coalcap, his words seemed to go through one ear and out the other.

You huffed, going deeper into the lake. Once you reached the point where it almost covered your knees, you lay down. The water chilled you to the bone and sent a shiver down your spine. You felt giddy and ducked your head in and out of the water, flinging water onto your back and even flinging some onto the pups, earning a few squeals and complaints.

When the water grew too cold for you, you staggered onto land and shook yourself free of any extra water.

"Mr. Fury, Mr. Fury!"

A flock of terrible terrors flew over your head. Most of them landed on a large rock, while some landed on the rocks nestled in the pond. Two of them stepped forward, clumsily pushing and shoving the others to do so. One was red with an orange underbelly and the other was green with a pale yellow underbelly.

The red one hit the green one upside the head.

"It's Mr. Light, stupid!"

The green terrible terror shuffled its feet. "Well, uhm.. we saw a group of humans heading towards this island-"

You perked up.

"But, uh- -Instead of ships, they were riding dragons, AND THERE WAS A--!"

"I've heard enough, thank you," you growled, only focused on getting your pups to safety. You blindly threw one onto your back and the other stayed in your jaw. You sprinted away from the lake, jumping between rocks before you took flight.

You could only hope the humans wouldn't find you.
