I stiffened and clenched my jaw and when Harry saw me, his eyes looked down.
"Let someone else take you," I said and got up to go to the bathroom.
"But he doesn't say yes a lot and--" Lewis started but I cut him off.
"I said no!" I snapped and shut the bathroom door loudly.
Letting out a deep breath, I put my hands on the edge of the sink and gripped it hard, making my wound bleed. I had already forgotten about it.
A knock on the door startled me.
"Go away!" I shouted as I twisted the faucet and let the water run on my wound.
"Come out please," Nate said as he knocked on the door frantically.
"Look, I just want to be alone," I said as I dried my hands on the towel near me. I sat on the tiny chair inside my bathroom and closed my eyes.
"Please just come out," he said, still knocking on the door.
I sighed and opened the door to a really worried face. Nate's right hand was on the wall and he was tapping his foot nervously.
"I'm not going to kill myself Nate," I said and he flinched at my straightforwardness.
"I know," he said.
I hugged him for a few seconds and let go, ignoring my fast beating heart and the blush that was threatening to arise.
"It's just that... what happened to my sister. It still gets me. Sometimes," I said.
He just stared at me and after the kiss we shared a while ago, I found it hard to stare right back like I used to.
"Your hand," he said. "It's still bleeding."
"It bled from when I gripped the edge of the sink," I explained. "But it's fine now."
I grabbed a handkerchief from one of my drawers and wrapped it around my hand. Good thing they still haven't messed with the arrangement of my stuff here.
"Come on, let's go down," I said and smiled at him.
He stared at me again for a few seconds which made me really insecure and then held out his hand.
"Shall I escort you down, Your Highness," he joked and I was really relieved that the tension was gone. He wasn't like everyone who made a big deal of everything. Instead, he makes me feel better. A whole lot better.
"You may, peasant," I joked as well and curtsied. "But I can't possibly hold your hand because you're not royalty."
He sent me a mock glare and said, "That was a mean thing to say."
I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"Oh this isn't a funny matter," he said seriously but I can tell that he was joking.
"Sure, whatever," I said and waved my hand as I walked outside my room.
"You know, I will just kidnap you so that I can have my revenge," he said from behind me and that made me laugh even more.
"Ha ha, Nate. Very funny," I said but nobody answered. When I turned around, Nate was so close to me and scooped me into his arms and spun us around.
"No stop!" I said between laughs.
He stopped spinning and ran down the stairs while laughing as well.
"Oh my goodness, Nate! If we fall, I'm going to murder you," I said.
"You won't fall," he said. "I'm a sporty guy."
"Sporty? Really?" I mocked. "More like skinny."
"Soccer players are not meant to be bulked up," he said and made his way to the dining room.
"Sure, whatever," I said and laughed some more.
When we arrived, my father and my brothers and the servants were looking at us weirdly and our laughs quickly subsided.
"Well, I see you both are having fun," my dad said, cutting through the silence.
I got down from Nate's arms and chewed on my lip as we both walked to our places.
"They certainly are having fun flirting, aren't they Lewis," Harry said.
"I think so too, Harry," Lewis said.
"Boys," my dad said, calling their attention.
As we ate, my father and Nate droned on and on about soccer. Lewis and Harry joined their conversation and I couldn't help but feel left out. I certainly don't watch footy matches but I like the sport so I don't really have that much information to join the conversation.
"Anyway, I'm sorry to be leaving but I have a meeting in ten minutes," he said. "Ugh. I really want to skip that meeting. Anyway, boys, are you going to the shops today?"
Lewis and Harry just shrugged and I decided that I've been a bit harsh earlier.
"Yes," I said. "They're coming with us since we're going there as well."
"Really? You're driving us?" Harry asked.
"Sure," I said. "I haven't seen you in ages and this is our time to bond."
I approached them and kissed their cheeks, making them groan.
"Ugh, stop!" Lewis said as he wiped his cheeks.
"You're the worst!" Harry said.
"Oh really? Then I'm not driving you," I said.
"No! I mean, you're the best sister and we love you so much," Harry said and he hugged me tightly.
"Oh how I love annoying you guys," I said. "So now, you have to promise to give me some of those cookies you hide behind your school books later."
They hesitated but after a few seconds, they agreed. Those cookies were the best tasting cookies in the whole world. My mum makes them but since she's always busy, Lewis and Harry try their best to stretch out their supply. Also, since my mother's not very fond of me and I'm not very fond of her as well, I've never asked her to bake for me.
"Okay! Let's get this craziness on the road people," I said and hopped toward the garage.
