Chapter 18: Reunited And Introduced

The bus came to a halt, and people filed off in a line. When everyone had congregated, Ukai addressed us.

"We've played Seijoh plenty of times before. This will be no different. Remember, this is just a practice, so don't pressure yourselves too much. Polish your moves. Study their's and learn from them. Let's go."

He pushed open the doors, and we made our entrance.

"Irihata! Long time, no see. Do my eyes deceive me, or are you greying?" Ukai taunted.

The other coach chuckled heartily.

"A pleasure as always, I see your mouth runs as quickly as your hairline."

"Damn! I didn't think you packed such a punch."

"Your grandfather had a sharp tongue too. Say, how is that old bat?"

They continued to chat while the rest of us set our things down on the bleachers.

I looked over to check out the opposing team who was already inspecting us. That's when a familiar face stood out. It was Iwaizumi.

He'd certainly changed in appearance. He'd grown several inches taller and put on substantial muscle. He'd generally matured and looked more intimidating at least until his eyes met mine.

He squinted and tilted his head a bit.

"Y/n?"

"In the flesh." I smiled.

His skeptical expression immediately shifted to one of joy.

"No way! How long has it been?"

"Three years now, did you miss me?" I asked, placing my hands on my hips jokingly.

"Hell yeah, I did! Since when do you go to Shiratorizawa?"

"I transferred this year because my mom got a new job."

"And you didn't come here? What a shame."

"When your uncle works there, it makes sense to go."

"I guess. Are you a manager or something?"

"Yep, I was recruited last week."

A tall brown-haired boy approached the two of us.

"Woah, who's this cutie, Iwa?"

"This is y/n, and don't call her that." He told him, lowering his eyelids disapprovingly.

"Allow me to introduce myself." The stranger started.

"Oikawa, right?"

"Ah, it seems you've heard of me."

"Your reputation precedes you."

"I'm flattered, but you should know that everything you hear is true."

"Does that or does that not include the rumor that your ass is shaped like a board?"

He made a face of offense while the other snickered.

"Does not! I'll have you know that my tooshie is quite tasteful."

I cringed at his choice of words but laughed it off.

"Do you always have to deal with this?" I asked Iwaizumi.

"Unfortunately." He replied.

Oikawa looked back and forth between us.

"I wasn't informed that this was slander-Oikawa-day!"
