Chapter 1 The problem

Hello, I am the creator of this series and I like wolves... Uhm yes...
so I wrote this story because wolves are great and majestic creatures but sometimes they don't have enough stories. this is my first ever story here on Wattpad so without further ado, I hope you will enjoy it.

"The hunting party is back, I can smell them" Flumine sniffed the air and her ears twitching by every sound.
She turned her head over to me.
"Are you hungry, or will you pass?" eating was the least of my consent it was difficult to find food nowadays, the harsh winters were getting tougher by the days.
I stood up and politely declined, then turned towards the exit of the den and left. My fur was met with a small breeze. "You do know that it's getting harder to find food but what's even weirder, when the summer comes the ice tends to melt even faster each year and that weird toy ting Uhm... what did we call it... oh yeah the squeaky toy it had many colors. but that's not the point what I mean, is that if the snow will melt faster each year. We'll need to look for another den "Flumine pointed out. She was right but I wasn't busy with the idea and if it was something to worry about we would have known sooner.
"We can't just abandon our territory"
"We can but won't" Flumine sighed
"Isn't it obvious, we're scared of what we will face out there" Flumine stood up and walked out of the den
"We can wait all we like but the rivers are going to be flooded soon, and then we're forced out" I was confused about the whole situation why was she so paranoid about the changes.
"Hey Nix are you hungry" Optimum stopped next to me
"No thanks"
"You sure?"
"Yes"
"Alright then"
she walked away, heading towards the fresh-kill. another breeze was met with my fur what if she's right the snow does melt faster and faster even now I can see that it's less snow than last winter.
"Are you going to stare into the snow forever or?..." Imperium paused.
"... I am going back in, but thanks"
"I can see it somethings bothering you," she said worryingly
"well... you know Flumine"
"yes, of course, I know her we are in the same pack after all"
"do you want to hear it or not?" the tone of my voice sounded annoyed
"yes I do"
"All alright then Flumine has been more paranoid lately, she always stays in the dens never goes out hunting even tho she can kill a reindeer, but that isn't all Flumine's saying the snow is melting faster than usual "
"you never know," Imperium said maybe she's just bothered by the fact she's blind. That couldn't be Flumine was never bothered by her blindness.
"Aren't you going to eat, Imperium?"
"Nope, I am going to stay with you little pup"
"What!?" imperium giggled and jumped down from the rocky den when she landed Imperium gave me a few licks "it's going to be fine just wait. Flumine is just overreacting but she isn't wrong the snow is thawing more than normal so we'll need to find a new place to settle in but don't worry we still have a lot of time until then. So we need to use the time we have to enjoy ourselves, so what do you think a race around our territory?" She said with a sly laugh.
"Alright," she couldn't beat me I was so ready for a competition, And losing wasn't on my list to do today Imperium may be slim and a fast runner, but she can't win from me. A wolf I was strong and fast I think? But that didn't matter what mattered was this enjoining the moment as Imperium said. As I was following Imperium to the start my tail started wagging like a little puppy.
"Are you ready 3... 2... 1... GO!" Imperium climbed on my back and then jumped on my head I fell down my nose touched the cold snow. laughing she turned her face around
"as you can win from me! Hehe" Imperium stook her tongue out playfully I stood up and ran shaking my head from the snow bits the wind flew into my face. The feeling of the wind against my nose the smell of prey was a feeling you wouldn't forget. As I was catching up with imperium Her orange black tail was swaying behind her she looked back at me
"you may have almost caught up with me but you won't beat me because I am... speed..." Imperium said in her weirdest voice suddenly I broke out laughing, lost balance, and fell to the ground still laughing Imperium stopped and trotted over to me with a big smile appeared on her face.
"You know you look funny in the snow something like a red dot in the blue sky it's easy to see you coming from a territory away," Imperium said still smiling and giggling she always loved to be salty, but to me Imperium was Alright. sadly I can't say the same for Optimum they were together most of the time, talking sitting down looking at deer as they were walking in herds Imperium and Optimum were so close. But still argued a lot and then one of them would say something funny then Imperium and Optimum would start laughing as nothing had ever happened it was strange but also nice to know how much they cared about each other even though they fight a lot Imperium loves Optimum as much as Optimum does
"Hey... Nix I think you need to see this..." her voice sounded Shocked I stood up wondering why she was so amazed. Was it another avalanche happening now at any moment or a- once I stood up and saw this I couldn't believe it. Flumine was right the ice was melting, the place that once was the Snowy meadows was gone it had flooded with tons and tons of water. we were lucky to be on this cliff because trees were underwater birds were flying to higher places. the water was there longer than I thought. The ice was starting to form on the flooded areas reflecting the light that was trying to melt the frozen parts of the flood.
"w-what should w-we do Imperium? This has gone out of control only a few days left and we are going to hunt fish for the rest of our lives" I said trying to sound calm
"Fortis has returned from the hunt, we can talk to him about this problem" Imperium was also trying not to freak out "let's go before the sun sets, we don't want more water rising" Imperium was right, before I left I couldn't help to look one last time at the flood the ice was holding it back, but it would need more time to transform fully into a barrier, and time was something we did not have much of left.
