CHAPTER ONE

- Edited -

[ Louis' POV. ]

If I had struggled to get the boy into my car, getting him out and carrying him inside the hospital was even more of a challenge.
But we got there.

And luckily, as soon as I walked through the doors a male nurse was rushing to help me, asking for a stretcher and placing the boy there, immediately moving him to the E.R and trauma area.

Doctors and nurses rushed to attend the boy as I stood there, immobile.
I could see his head was still bleeding and the guilt and the fear I was feeling was something I never felt before. He was still alive, but I could have killed him.

Today I could have killed a boy who was doing nothing wrong.
I was the one at wrong. I was the stupid driver who missed a red light.

It was all on me.

Fortunately, in between this major disaster, I had had the reflex to cover my hair with a cap I had in the car, and a hoodie to disguise myself as much as possible.
The least thing I wanted now was to also have inquiring eyes in me that could recognize me.

"Sir,  sir I know this is a shock. But I can assure you he's in good hands." - A female nurse now approached me. - "Now, I need to ask, are you a relative of him? I need you to fill some papers to admit him."

"I can't." - I said automatically. - "I've... I can't. I'm not... I don't know him." - I mumbled. - "I just found him like that on the street. He uhm... He fell from his bike." - I lied.

"I see. Well, I need your full name anyways, because you're the person who brought him in. And once we get his name we'll go through his emergency contacts."

"Sure. That's... That's good."

"Sir, your name?"

"Oh." - I frowned, knowing I couldn't actually give my real name. Not in this situation. Not until I talked to my lawyers. - "Alex Williams." - I lied again.

"Okay, Alex, we are going to run some tests for his head and I will try to find any relative of him to call. You did the right thing to bring him here." - She smiled. - "You can either leave or stay, that's on you."

"I'll stay. Until someone gets here for him. I need to know... I just need to know if he'll make it. Can you keep me updated? Please?" - I begged, noticing how now my hands were shaking inside the pockets of my hoodie.

"Sure." - She smiled, and with a simple nod she returned to her work.

I wandered around the E.R waiting room, which luckily for me was fairly empty with the exception of a late-fiffties guy, pacing back and forth and trying hard to calm the shaking of my hands.
I shook my head, not knowing what else to do.

Staying and checking on him was the right thing to do. I couldn't leave.
I just couldn't.

After buying a water bottle from a vending machine and taking some really deep breaths, I finally sat down. I was so overwhelmed about everything that  went down, that I completely forgot about the party.

My phone had several missed calls from both Liam and Niall. I decided to call Liam back. If anyone could keep calm and help me, it would surely be him.

"Where are you, Louis?" - He said as he answered the call.

"Liam." - My voice trembled. - "I need help."

"What? With what?"

"I need you to come. Please."
