A chuckle from the girl cut off the man as she began to laugh at his words of worry.

"I- haha-- I'm sorry, Yukichi. Really, I am, I forgot I was recovering, I feel fine so it must have slipped my mind. pfftt... But I promise I won't extend myself anymore today, I promise, okay?"

The man nodded in agreement as he said, "For now, that will suffice. Now, as I said you are going to be on desk duty for the next few days. I believe that should be enough time for you to study the information you gathered on the enemy?"

Sheh smiled up to the man as she wiped a tear that was a product of her laughing fit. "Yes, that should be more than enough time."

He smiled down at her before he walked away to look out the window by his desk.

"Wonderful, now on another note, today is the girl's first trial mission and-"

"Kyoka... her name is Kyoka."

The President stopped his talk and looked back at the woman before he smiled softly and said, "Ah, yes, today is young Kyoka's first trial mission.  I'd like you to monitor her and Atsushi somehow and make sure things go smoothly.  I'm sure you've bugged both the boy and the girl already seeing as you've grown quite protective of both.  I know you've had the pair over to your house, by the way."

(Y/n) stood to her feet and walked to stand beside Yukichi as she said, "I'll set database up to scan their bugs for trigger words to alert me when spoken, and I'll continue to monitor her phone for any attempted incoming calls.  Anything more would sidetrack me from checking the information I have on the Guild. and I already promised you I wouldn't extend myself today."

"That is more than enough, thank you."

(Y/n) gently poked the man's side with her elbow as a smirk made its way onto her face and she said, "Your stoic face and monotonous voice may fool everyone else, but I know you're nervous about the mission, aren't you?  Do you have a soft spot for the two kids too?"

He sighed and calmly said, "She has been taught to think with her blade and not with her heart.  Though she wishes to not kill, her body may resort to violence should they run into trouble.  It is, unfortunately, all she knows at the moment."

(Y/n) sighed out, "They will be fine, what is the worst that can happen at this point?  The Port Mafia comes after them while they are out and takes the two of them away?  Or even worse, the Guild stops by and tries to kill them?  That won't happen, they will be fine, I'm sure it's a simple mission.  Remember my first mission three years ago?  I went undercover at a college to find a gifted user who was making people piss themselves for revenge?"

"Yes, I was terrified for your safety, and how many times must I tell you to watch your language?"

"How many times must I tell you I'm an adult and can speak whatever words I want to?"

...

...

"Yukichi?  If i hurt your feelings just now, I'm sorry."

She was confused as to why the man hadn't responded yet and she saw that he had a serious expression on his face as he peered out the window.  She knew this was his I'm lost in some deep thoughts right now face, and she probed.

"What's on your mind now?  It's like every time you talk to me lately you have to tell me some deep or philosophical breakthrough you've just—"

"You are indeed an adult now.  I realized that when I saw you step up to take care of Atsushi, and now I see it as you work to help Kyoka feel more comfortable.  I've also noticed that you—"
