(America's POV)
I approached my parent's house, my whole body was shaking. 'Will dad even want to see me!? He probably still hates me...' I thought as a reached the front door. I reached my hand up to ring the doorbell but immediately hesitated. 'What am I doing!? This is foolish! He'll just send me away..." I went to turn around but stopped myself, shaking my head as if to clear it. 'No! I have to do this! The worst he can do is shut the door in my face.' I went back and rang the doorbell swiftly. I half wished that nobody was home but soon the door opened revealing... my father. The moment he saw it was me his eyes widened and I thought I heard a slight gasp. We stared at each other for what felt like an eternity. Sweat began to run down dad's face... no... it wasn't sweat... it was... tears? Why in the world would he be crying?! I opened my mouth to speak but I was quickly pulled into a hug. I was so startled and confused that I didn't even think about hugging back. My father mumbled something under his breath that I couldn't quite hear.
"Wh-What?" I asked, stuttering a bit.
"I'm sorry..." He finally spoke. I hadn't heard my father's voice in so long... I had almost forgotten what it sounded like. "I'm so sorry America... For hurting you, kicking you out... you'd think losing Australia would bring me to my senses... to make me realize the little time I have with you... but it made me cold and bitter against my whole family and especially you." At this even I began to tear up. "I don't expect your forgiveness... you can hate me all you want just please... come back... if anything were to happen to you too I-I don't know how I'd go on." My father only held me closer and closer as he spoke, his tears falling onto my shirt. I've never seen him like this before... and it only made me realize how hurt he was from losing Australia and almost losing me too. If me and Russia hadn't have... broken up... I would've stayed with him, not even thinking of dad ever again.
"O-Of course I'll come back... and I do forgive you... how can I stay angry for long? You're my family and no matter what I'll always love you..." I put my arms around Dad and we stayed like that for a while. We haven't hugged like this since I was a kid. Soon we broke away and Dad ushered me inside. Canada was just coming down the stairs and when he saw me his eye seemed to sparkle.
"Ame!" He yelled throwing his arms around me. "You came back!"
"Of course I came back! And when were you going to tell me about this new Britain? I didn't know he had changed."
"Oh, yeah, I was trying to call you earlier but you wouldn't answer!" Maple chuckled, "What're you doing here anyway?" He strained his neck to look at my stuffed backpack.
"Oh... uh... me and Russia... we broke up..." My smile faded and I stared at the floor.
Canada let out a small gasp, "Ame, I'm so sorry. What happened?"
"It's... complicated... I'll tell you later." I looked up and began to glance around the room. "Where's mom and Kiwi?"
"They went shopping, it'll be a nice surprise when they come back and see you!"
"Enough bothering him Maple." Dad broke in, "Son you can go right up to your room and get settled." It seemed like forever since he called me that. I nodded and raced up the stairs to my old room. Nothing had changed. A bed in the middle of the room with American flag sheets, a small window to the right side of it, my dresser that was against the wall on the left side of the room, which still had some of my stuff on it, and the closet on the right side of the room, which through a quick examination still had everything in it as well. I'm not quite sure why I thought things would be missing or moved around but they're all here so it's fine. I placed my backpack down and laid down on my bed, which was unbelievably soft. Then there was a quiet noise from the other side of the bed, I turned and saw two fuzzy ears peeking over the edge. I moved closer and a little kitten jumped up onto my face playfully. I laughed as it made its way on top of my head.
"Hey, Dad!"
"Yes?"
"When did you get a cat?"
"Oh, I found her outside about a week ago. I hope you don't mind having a new sister." There was a slight tease in my father's tone. I gently grabbed the kitten by the scruff and looked her up and down. She was mostly white but had patches of orange and back as well. One of her eyes was blue and the other I bright yellow. 'Kinda like mine'
"What's her name?" I asked getting up and exiting the room with the cat in my arms.
"I... uh... haven't named her yet..." Dad answered.
I couldn't help but wheeze. "You've had this cat for a week and you still haven't named her?"
"I've been calling her 'Cat' if that's what you'd prefer." From the bottom of the stairs, I could see Dad rolling his eyes at me.
"No, she's special, how about... Delaware?"
"Delaware? Where'd you get that?" Dad gave me a weird look.
"I don't know, I just kinda came up with it."
Dad shrugged, "Whatever, name her what you want." I turned back into my room and held up the kitten again,
"Do you like your name? Delaware?" I asked. The kitten let out a soft mew in response so I simply took that as a yes. I've always been more of a dog person but I'd settle for a cat. After looking around a bit more, I realized I never really had too many memories here... we had to move to this new house after Australia... ya know... but most of the memories that were created here weren't very happy ones, it was too painful to think about though. I placed Delaware down so she could go wander by herself as I went back to my room. Sitting down on the bed once more I began to really think about everything that had just happened to me... Before all of this... I was a complete nobody that no one talked to and that people bullied... and then I met Russia, well he saved me from North Korea, South Korea, China, and Japan that one day. We became friends right away. It wasn't until one particularly bad encounter with my bullies that forced my dad to take me out of school. It was hard being without Russia, oftentimes I'd sneak out to go see him, around that time he became my boyfriend. We had little fights here and there but nothing too serious. Eventually I came out to my siblings, I was lucky they accepted me so quickly but it was later that night when our house caught fire... killing my brother Australia. I was allowed to go back to school after that but Aussie's death took a serious toll on my father's mental health... he started drinking and eventually turned violent against me and Canada but I could always find comfort in Russia...
No good thing lasts forever though... Japan attempted to kill Russia... she said it was an accident but I'll never believe her. Russia was left in a coma for a few weeks but without him, I felt broken and unsure... my father not making anything better. Luckily Russia recovered and everything was normal for a while before Germany, Russia's ex, confessed that he set our house on fire in revenge. I made sure he paid the price though. After telling my father I was gay he kicked me out of the house and I moved in with Russia, that kinda made things better for me. Me and Russia broke up for a short time but we resolved our problems. But not long after that Germany went missing and was later found murdered in a forest. The killers were Jamaica and Netherlands, Australia's two closest friends. Soon I met a girl named Philippines... she was so friendly and I kept sneaking off to speak with her about my problems.
Russia found out soon enough... he was furious with me and broke up with me for good... even though it's only been two hours not even, I miss him deeply... there's so much I wish I could have done over... to make our relationship better but he hates me and he has every right to. I lied to him on multiple occasions. I wouldn't trust me either to be honest.
I sighed, it was a lot to take in, a lot has happened in just 6 months maybe less... but hopefully, things will get better.
