You were at the bridge.

It was a calm flight so far.
You were mostly chatting with the others or thinking to yourself about Shadow.

When are you going to see him again? Hopefully soon.

The module on your screen flashed.
You looked at the screen.
"The sensors picked up something".

"Is it another asteroid?" Knuckles asked, slightly irritated.

It's true that the sensors would sometimes pick up small asteroids that wouldn't endanger the typhoon in any way, but this was different.

"No... It's something worse"

"A herd of Asteroids?" Knuckles asked again.

"No... It's a Materex ship" You said, slightly frightened.

"What are they doing?" Tails asked.

"Nothing really. They don't seem to be getting closer or anything. They're just there" You hummed.

"Amy do they have any weapons?" Chris asked.

"They have a lot of them. Missiles, laser cannons"

"Are they getting ready to attack?" Tails asked.

"I think if they would want to attack us. They would've already done so" You pointed out.

"You never know. Materex are vile, cruel and selfish creatures. They could attack us at any moment" Cosmo spoke up.

You and the others decided to just keep an eye on them.
But they didn't seem to do anything for a while.
Twelve hours to be exact. Until...

"Hey Tails" Sonic started

"Why don't you try steering the ship on a different course now?".

" I guess I can, but where exactly do you want me to go Sonic?" Tails asked.

"Wherever, it doesn't matter (now what happened). It's just we've been going in this direction since the Materex began chasing us twelve hours ago.
And I've been wondering why they haven't fired a shot at us"
Sonic said as he patted Cheese, who was asleep on his lap.

Then it clicked.

They are making us going this way.

"Are you suggesting the Materex tricked us into going this way?" Cosmo asked.

"Is it a trap Sonic?" Tails asked.

"Why don't we find out?" Sonic suggested.

"Okay and while we're at it we can test out how accurate their tracking sensors are. Let's push our speed to the max"

"Chris, increase auxiliary engines to maximum power" Tails ordered.

"Rodger. Increasing power now"
