-Present-
Thunderous rain comes down outside the little cabin. I'm awoken suddenly by a huge lightning strike that lights the whole sky up like day. I crawl out of bed and walk over to the dying fire, and
I pick up a small log to set on-top of the fire to keep it going. The rustic barn calendar I had said it was October 16. Fall had taken an unexpected turn with brisk cold air, it's been the coldest fall we have ever had that I could remember. Everything had changed so quickly on that night. I can still remember clearly what I was doing when it happened.
-Past-
Teagan and I are jamming out to Adele as I drive us to school on a nice, warm September day. I went all out on my makeup and hair because of school fall pictures. I can't wait until next year to take my senior pictures.
I drop my sister off at middle school and drive up to the Harrison high school parking lot. I park my new blue escape I got for my birthday last month. I check my mirror one last time to make sure my makeup is good, and I get out.
I walk straight to the coffee shop to get me a French Vanilla Cappuccino. There goes $6.50, oh well definitely worth it.
I walk to my first hour comp 1 class. Right off the bat, the sub passes out a big study guide for our test tomorrow.
Most of the day passes by quickly, I have a test in comp 1, algebra 2, and chemistry. Right after lunch, we all go to the gym and take our pictures. A good hour and half later, I head to my last hour, which is study hall.
A couple of minutes after the late bell rang, a knock comes from the door and Mr. Benton goes and sees who it is. It's the principal with a new student. He was taller than the principal, I would guess 6ft 3 or 4 inches tall with curly dirty blonde hair.
I over hear the conversation saying that he had gotten lost and needed help finding his last class. He thanked the principal and walks into class. Mr. Benton introduces him as Timber Hinson. He said hello and that he just moved from Bergman, and that he hoped to play football and make good friends this year.
He sits at an open table in the front, I glance at the clock on the wall and back to my watch. Finally, after what seemed to be forever, the bell rings and I jump out of my seat and run to the door and straight to my locker. I grab my books to study tonight and start walking towards the door to leave.
Right as I turn left, I run into someone at their locker and drop all my things. He bends down to help pick my things up as I say sorry and I look up to the the new kid staring at me with royal blue eyes. He says no problem, and here's your books. I say thank you and apologize again and say hi I'm Meredith welcome to Harrison.
He returns the friendly hello and right before he starts a conversation, my phone rings and it's my dad. I answer and apologize to Timber as I walk out the front doors. I head down the sidewalk to my car and get inside. He asks me if I can go to Walmart and pick up our groceries, they were ready.
Fifteen minutes later, Teagan and I are sitting in the parking lot waiting for our groceries. An old woman comes out pushing our groceries, and I press the trunk button to the left of my steering wheel to lift the door.
On our way home I stop by sonic to get us a slushee. I get us both watermelon flavored because that's our favorite and head home. I pull up into the driveway and open the car garage. I drive in and start unloading the groceries. A half an hour later, mom and dad are home and setting up for company. It's nothing new in this house because my parents had their friends over for their weekly "game night" it mainly consisted of white wine and gossiping.
My father Caylus would always bring my little sister and I a movie and snacks to watch upstairs while they hung out. That night he had gotten us It chapter 2, and our favorites, Reese's anything. He had bought the movie on our Apple TV.
