Number One Fan! Interview with Animus_Argentis

Start from the beginning

Anyway... Lately, I've been writing a new story called HellFire. And anyone who knows me knows I'm a little in depth when it comes to God, the universe, human nature and dimensional theory. And guess what all is in HellFire?! Haha, yeah, you guessed it. It's me finally taking all my doctrinal and religious knowledge, pet theories and imagination, and cramming it all into one itty bitty space. I love it. It's pretty much me saying to Hell with controversy and stepping on toes. I wanna write this, and I shall do so!

9.   If you had to choose between writing novels and writing poetry, which would you choose and why?

... You're a cold, cruel evil woman. :p I probably physically couldn't make that choice. I'm terribly indecisive. Poetry is my passionate, emotional outlet, whilst novelization is my logical, ideological outlet. I mean, of course they overlap from time to time, but... That's like asking me to choose which side of my brain I want to keep working. >.>

9.   Where do you get inspiration for your stories from?

Everything. I watch, I observe, I constantly imagine, create scenarios in my mind, how I think things should play out. History is a big inspiration, from time to time. Really, I guess my biggest inspiration would be people. Human nature. Human resiliency. We take ourselves for granted. I want to make people look at themselves differently, to realize that there is a little hero in all of us, and that we alone have the voice and choice that will bring that hero to light.

10.   What is your writing personality? Are you a planner or do you just sit down and let the words flow?

A bit of both. I plan out major events, end goals, and then just start writing, see where the characters want to take things. And occasionally, they give me, my goals, my ideas and plans a big ol' middle finger and tell me to stuff it, lol. I prefer it that way, honestly. It makes things as exciting for me to write, as it does for the reader to read it. I think that's what keeps me going a lot of the time, too. I'm not just sitting and pounding away; I'm bringing my thoughts to life, and giving them a persona. I'm watching their tale unfold with the rest of you, I just get to see it first. I know the ending, vaguely, but I certainly don't know the path to it. I think this is how God must feel, sometimes. I think that stories that are completely planned tend to be a little dry and boring in execution. Any story that you can logically see the end, from the very beginning, is crap, in my opinion. I, for one, am going to piss a lot of people off with WMHF. Several times.

11.   What is the best book you've ever read and how has it influenced you?

I've read waaaay too many books to pick just one, haha. As a series, the Enderverse, stemming from Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game, have profoundly affected me in the aspect that they began my interest in multiverse theory and insights into Human nature. I recommend them to any and everyone.

12.   If you could meet any one author today, who would it be and why?

Orson Scott Card. Just to shake his hand and thank him for writing those books. Maybe ask him to sign something, give me some writing pointers.

13.   What is your opinion on the difference between online, self-publishing and traditional publishing?
