tw: offensive slurs, swearing

yoongi sat against the brick wall behind the school. hoodie up and earbuds in, his pale face and fingers began to turn pink at the tips. his nose and cheeks had a faint blush, and his once white knuckles were changing color. it was late october, and the first snow of the year had fallen last week. to say it was chilly was an understatement.
he warmed his large hands in the fleece pockets of his black sweatshirt, and he could see his breath freeze in the air. he was in his lunch time, classes starting again soon. this was his regular spot for lunchtime, and he recently realized he might have to find a new spot, considering the cold climate.
he got a notification on his cracked phone. kim namjoon, his closest friend, had send him a text.

joon: where are you? i thought you were going to sit in the library today...
yoongi: sorry. sitting outside today.
joon: yoongi, it's too cold to be sitting outside now.
joon: meet me by my locker. please

yoongi turned off his phone, putting it in his pocket. he stiffly stood up, grabbing his backpack. as he made his way inside, he instantly felt the change of temperature. his slightly shaky hands were finally becoming warm again.
namjoon had been his friend for as long as he could remember. even if he barely remembered the earlier times of his 18 year old life, he always remembered namjoon. they became friends when he was in the first grade, when they were partners for an art project. ever since then, they had only gotten closer. even though namjoon was severely popular in their school for being the smartest student in the class, he always was loyal to yoongi. and the older was thankful for that. he never had any other friends, and he really could never ask for a better one than namjoon.
he saw the tall brunette by his locker, wearing a large sweater and jeans.
"there you are. i can't believe you sat outside. it's below freezing, you dummy," namjoon exclaimed, looking at the shorter ravenette. yoongi shrugged.
"where are we going now?" he asked, voice low and mumbled.
"to the library," the taller responded. yoongi looked forward, eyes focused on the group of boys at the end of the hallway. they were the popular group of students. kim taehyung, jeon jungkook, song mingi, jung jaehyun, kim yugyeom, hwang hyunjin, jackson wang, and park jimin. two girls were with them, too, jung wheein and momo hirai. they were all known for being attractive and athletic (notoriously known as assholes, too). every year, loads of drama and gossip revolves around them, it seems like it never ends.
passing by them, yoongi accidentally caught gazes with jungkook. the long haired boy gave him a disgusted look.
"what're you looking at, min? being a fucking creep, huh," he spat, the rest of their group looking over at them, too. namjoon stopped in his tracks, whipping his body around to face them. yoongi slowly stopped walking, realizing jungkook was talking to him. his hands started to shake again, and his face got hot. his eyes suddenly glued to the floor, and he turned to face namjoon only.
yoongi would like to say that his social anxiety had gotten better over the last year, but he knows that's a lie. if he were truthful, he would say it has only gotten worse. his heartbeat sped up quickly, and a sick, familiar feeling set in his stomach.
"what's your problem, jungkook?" namjoon crossed his arms, glaring at the boy. although namjoon was much taller than any of them, jungkook was very intimidating. his tattoos and multiple piercings and his scary glare could make anybody shudder in their skin.
"my problem is this freak," he smirked evilly, taking slow steps toward yoongi, "why were you staring, gay boy? huh? you just can't keep your eyes off of anything with a dick, can you." his group laughed. yoongi's breath hitched in his throat, and he felt his eyes darken.
"back the fuck up, jungkook. he literally did nothing wrong, you're just an asshole who thinks the world revolves around yourself," namjoon raised his voice. yoongi suddenly looked up to see jungkook and namjoon eye-to-eye. they looked as if they were wild animals ready to fight over food.
"let it go, joon," yoongi said in a low voice, "let's go."
"yeah, get outa here, faggot," mingi shouted, high fiving jaehyun.
"go back to your cave, freak," jimin yelled as well, the rest of them laughing. yoongi gave jimin a dark glare, and the younger widened his eyes and looked away from his gaze.
yoongi grabbed his friend's@ arm, dragging them away from the scene. he heard jimin whisper some thing to his friends,
tsk, pussy.
"why did you do that? they were being dicks, and you just let them say shit to you again," namjoon exclaimed when they finally turned the corner to a different hallway. yoongi shrugged.
"it's not like you would have fought them anyway. it gets repetitive after a while. i just let it go."
"that's not okay. next time they pull that shit i'm throwing fists," namjoon got into a boxing stance and threw fake punches. yoongi chuckled.
"i'm sure you will."
