Amelia had everything- family, friends, a promising future- the sky was the limit. But just like that everything was taken from her. One moment she's planning her high school graduation party the next she's laying on a therapist's couch. It was as i...
"She was down here, asleep on the couch," Chris interjected. Both me and Regina stared at him for a further explanation. "When I came down here earlier, I saw that Amelia was passed out in the living room."
"Oh my, well I'm just glad you're okay," Regina smiled.
And just like that, the conversation ended. Which I suppose was a good thing, in my case, because I still had to get ready to head into work. Glancing at the clock above the stove, I saw that I now had only forty-five minutes to get ready. Or else a very angry Elijah will be breaking into the house and throwing me over his shoulder.
I should have been annoyed that he would even make such a suggestion; but, I would be lying if I said I wasn't extremely turned on by the idea.
. . .
I had to admit, working at the office was becoming more enjoyable since Veronica was no longer a returning patient . Aralyn once posed the idea that Veronica never actually needed psychological help, just that she was trying to seduce Elijah all on her own. Regardless, I was able to truly get into the work that was handed to me without having any unnecessary confrontations.
When I arrived for work, Elijah had already been in his office with who I assumed to be another patient. As far as I knew, he wasn't expecting his first appointment until nine-thirty. The only time Elijah ever closed his door was when there was someone else in his office.
Yet, his door was closed and the blinds were drawn as they usually would be during the day. And still my curiosity peaked. I couldn't remember him mentioning anything about an early session.
I set my stuff down at the desk and logged into my laptop. As soon as I pulled up today's schedule it was confirmed that Elijah's first, real, meeting wasn't supposed to be for the next thirty minutes. So, who was in that office with him? And why was I getting that deep feeling of trepidation in the pit of my stomach?
Instantaneously, my mind wandered to the thought of Veronica being on the other side of that door. It had been a week since I had last seen her here. But, had it been that long since Elijah last saw her?
It wasn't that I didn't trust him. No, it was the woman who wore black stilettos and bright red lipstick that I didn't trust. She seemed to be a woman who was not above stalking in order to achieve her goal. Especially when she knew she had competition.
Ding. Ding.

My laptop gave off a sharp sound, signaling a new email coming in. I clicked on the message and my eyes locked on the screen. My brows snatched together when I saw the unfamiliar email address. This wasn't a message regarding making an appointment to see Elijah. This was entirely directed at me.
Hello, Amelia. - S
I usually would have hesitated to type back. But this unknown person knew who I was on a first name basis. I quickly typed back.
Who are you? - Amelia
Whoever this person was, they clearly didn't want me to know who they were, otherwise they wouldn't have left just the first letter of their name. Hell, who knows if their name even did begin with an "S". Within seconds another email appeared.
A friend. - S
Before I knew it, I was completely engrossed in our conversation. I couldn't recall being friends with anyone whose name began with the letter "S". Which left me believing that this person must have been connected to my other half, somehow.
A friend? How can you say you're my friend when you know nothing about me? - Amelia
I know more about you than most people in your life do. - S
Prove it. - Amelia
I took my bottom lip between my teeth and softly bit down as I waited for them to respond. What could this person possibly know about me that most people didn't already know? Immediately after the plane crash had taken place, I was like every reported within the state came flooding at my door.
All wanted a story of what happened, most wanting to know what would happen to me now that I was left a gigantic fortune. I, and the tragic death of my family, had become the hottest news for nearly two months.
You've lost your family in a horrific plane crash where you have then moved to Virginia with your Aunt and Uncle. - S
Just as suspected. They know nothing more than the tabloid basics. Frankly, I was surprised they didn't even care to mention the names of my family just to prove they knew more.
That information has become public knowledge. You're going to have to do better than that. - Amelia
