"Oh, I' pfftt-- I'm so sorry, (Y/n) but--"

He held up his hand when he was close enough to touch her ability before he tapped on the surface and said, "--is this your firewall?"

Her firewall fell and she stood to her feet and stormed up to him before punching him in the side repeatedly while saying, "Don't. You. Ever. Do. That. Again. You. Little. Shit!"

He couldn't help the laughs that escaped his lips as he took in the woman's blazing anger.

"Sorry, haha— sorry, I j-just couldn't resist! Haha!  Stop, it tickles!"

(Y/n) couldn't help the chuckles that began to escape her own throat. Anytime Dazai laughed like this she couldn't help but follow suit.  Even though she was actually afraid for a moment when he whispered into her ear, now thinking back it was pretty hot and brought a soft flush to her cheeks.

The two calmed down and Dazai held up a white plastic bag before saying, "Guess where I went?"

The logo on the side of the bag was all too familiar to her. "You went to Anko's Cafe! Dazai, you're the best!"

He smiled proudly before he said, "Yes, yes, praise me more!"

"What did you get me!?"

A smirk pulled at his lips before he said, "Well, I asked the lady what you liked and she said to get you (favorite pastry) or (favorite sandwich). I didn't know which one so I got you..."

He dug into the bag and pulled out both a familiar pastry and a sandwich before he said, "Both! I got you both!"

(Y/n) smiled to the man before she wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a hug as she said, "Thank you, seriously! I'm so hungry that if you didn't get both I would probably have eaten you."

Dazai smirked wrapped his arms around the woman's waist as he said, "You're welcome.  On another note, you are aware that you did use "

She felt her face heat up at their close contact and at his words before she mindlessly spoke back, "I would do the same for you too, Dazai."

"Osamu."

She pulled her face from his chest and stared up at him with a cocked eyebrow as she asked, "Pardon?"

"Call me Osamu. Dazai is too formal for us, don't you think? Besides I already call you (Y/n) and not (L/n)."

(Y/n) sent him a sly smirk before she joked out, "Thank you for the food, Osamu."

"You're very welcome. Now, let's get this food in you before you pass out.  It would be a shame if I had to ruin our afternoon alone by taking you to a hospital."

The pair ate their food and then made themselves comfortable on the couch.

(Y/n) ended up falling asleep on her companion approximately three hours ago, and Dazai didn't dare to move and risk waking the girl. He didn't mind her using him as a pillow, in fact, he was rather content being able to gently run his fingers through her hair as the sun began to set in the sky.

On Dazai's other leg laid the sleeping form of Mochi, the slightly overweight cat.  It's true that animals mimic their owners because right now both the cat and (Y/n) had each claimed one of Dazai's legs.

Dazai bent down and jokingly whispered to the feline, "No matter how much you purr, I find myself enjoying (Y/n)'s weight on my leg more than yours."

It was around five in the evening and Dazai had decided that he was willing to stay in that position all night if it meant she would get proper rest and heal up faster.  He may be acting selfishly, but he couldn't wait until she was allowed back into the field.  Any investigations he took on without would surely be more boring and meaningless than Kunikida's sense of humor.

As he continued to watch the television and absentmindedly braid her hair, he heard a knock at the front door.

Dazai slipped his phone out from his pocket as carefully as possible to avoid waking the woman before dialing a number to the man he knew was trying to get in to check on the sleeping beauty.

"Dazai?"

The gruff voice of President Fukuzawa was heard both on the phone and behind the door.

"President, you'll have to let yourself in, it seems my hands are tied up right now and (Y/n) is about as useful as a brick right now."

"Right, then I'll be right in."

The line went dead and it was followed shortly afterward by the sound of a key twisting in the doorknob.

Not long after did the President shuffle into the apartment and lock the door behind himself. Dazai sat on the couch with a content smile on his face as he held a finger to his lips, asking the President to be quiet. The President whispered in confusion, "Where is she?"

Dazai lazily pointed down beside him, and as the President came closer he could begin to see her form sleeping on the couch and the cat sleeping just above her head.

Her left cheek was resting on Dazai's thigh as the blanket Yukichi had got her as a housewarming gift was draped over her sleeping form.  The President saw Dazai's hand sitting in her hair, and a few braids decorated her scalp.  It brought a soft smile to his lips for some reason.

"Dazai, how is she doing?  Has she felt any headaches or other worrisome symptoms from her injury?"

Dazai was looking down at the girl as his fingers ghosted through her hair.  He shook his head in response and said, "No worrisome symptoms, but she is beat.  Does using her ability usually wear her out like this?"

Fukuzawa nodded grimly before he said, "I'm sure she's told you about that night?"

The smile painted on Dazai's face fell at the mention of (Y/n)'s past.  He tried to force a smile to stay on his face but it looked more crazed than happy.

"She may have mentioned it."

Yukochi sighed at the man's obviously forced expression and said, "After that night, she slept for nearly 60 hours straight.  She's gotten better at not using her ability until she crashes though, so she should be fine after only 12 hours of rest.  She also ate her weight in food almost every day in the hospital.  She ate as if she were starving."

"Well, she was the least favorite orphan at her orphanage, I'm sure she was probably starving."

The President chuckled at Dazai's joke before he sighed out, "Do you plan to stay here until she wakes up?"

Dazai's took a few moments to think about it before he hummed out, "I guess it wouldn't hurt to stay. Why, are you leaving already?"

The older man nodded his head before he said, "I know she'll be in good hands, thank you for taking care of her, Dazai. She really—"

Yukichi stalled for a moment to think about his words before he said, "She really needed another person in her corner other than me. I can't thank you enough for taking care of her."

Dazai smiled at the man and nervously brought his hand to the back of his head before he said, "I can see why Ranpo likes it when you praise him. Thank you, Sir, though I must admit she is fun to be around.  Me taking care of her or more or less to satisfy my own selfish motives."

The older man subtly rolled his eyes as he. Turned towards the door and said, "Please have her in the office by 8 tomorrow if possible.  We have much to do, and she has the most information on the Guild as of right now."

Dazai sent the president a lazy salute as he said, We will be there at 8 AM on the dot, Sir!  And please, lock the door behind you, Sir!"
