Larkin Travers made a mistake. As the daughter of the Travers family, one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, she was supposed to follow her parents' path. In this case, that means getting over herself and courting Marcus Flint so she can one day marry him and ensure that her family's bloodline stays pure.
