Mismatched liking

Hair fell over his forehead, nearly hiding his mismatched eyes. They were his biggest flaw, being so visible to judge. He couldn't very well hide them as it was seen as rude to not look someone in the eyes.
But as he grew up, he learned to hate his eyes. They were the reason for his pain. The reason his mother hated him, and why his father looked at him with distaste.
One being grey and the other green, he grew to hate them both. People always stared when he went out. Men judged quietly while women stared in awe, fascinated with his beauty yet envious of it too.
He hated his eyes, until he met Ace. The first thing Ace noticed about Cassian was the birth mark right above his lip. And then the scar on his cheek. Ace never once mentioned the color of Cassians eyes.
Not when they were mere inches apart and drowning in each other's gaze. Nor did he mention it when Cassians eyes were blood shot and tear ridden on the day his mother died.
Ace never saw Cassian for his eyes. He saw him for who he was. And Cassian fell in love with the boy with boring brown eyes and unruly hair, the one he couldn't help but watch when no one else was looking.
The one whose laugh was all too loud and uncontainable, and whose smile made his own eyes sparkle. Cassian fell in love with the boy who liked him for more then just his eyes.
