Eerie candlelights illuminated the quiet cellar deep down the Moika Palace. Splashes of dry, burgundy-red blood were splattered thoroughly over the cement walls and elegant rose curtains.
A gust of wind puffed its way through the doors swung open, and a glimpse of the dark and frigid night was caught in the silent room. The wind whistled by the silver bullets—a shrill, piercing scream echoed, grasping at the darkest and farthest corners of the scene.
The moonlight pointed its fingers at the dark blood stains, whispering to the river. The river rushed away with no reply, carrying a lifeless body. His eyes were still fiery and open. The supposedly-dead man was mouthing an indistinct incantation passed on from sons to the sons of sons, and to the sons of their sons.
Only a second went by before a shadow nodded maliciously.
