There was the sound of the wind rustling the leaves of the forest that could be heard from nearly every direction. The trees were as tall as skyscrapers and the color of the leaves like fire of the Autumn season. They were just blurs that passed you by as you wasted no time to run past all the mixing fiery colors that lay beneath the darkened sky. Twigs and broken branches laid on the barren earth with roots from the large trees stuck out from the ground like obstacles to be overcome. The grass was withered and yellow color, while the sky above was a deep, dark grey with bits of contrasting white.
The thunderous sounds of falling rain hitting the earth was nearly deafening. There was the sound of your own heavy breathing, and then suddenly, a loud bang echoed throughout the forest. When you looked back, all you could see was a man holding a shotgun, aimed solely at you. As you then ran, within the rain, your feet were coated in mud, dead leaves, and twigs up to your ankles. You saw no end of the forest until finally, another deafening shot rang through the air. A gasp left your lips as your body fell to the ground. The sudden feeling of stabbing pain entering your body. You looked down to your chest and then to your hand. It was stained with a dark red liquid, and you could no longer feel your heart racing as much as before. Instead, you felt it leaving you slowly. Your vision dampened, before it went black completely. You were left with nothing.
A gasp left from a girl's lips, as she awoke from her nightmarish slumber. Her body jolted upwards before she began looking around with horror and panic within her blue eyes. She then noticed the morning sun arising outside. Immediately, she looked to her phone to see the time. It was 4 AM. "2 hours before school starts, great," She thought to herself. She got up soon after, taking off her night shirt to reveal her rather petite breasts, moving to her dresser and opening the top drawer. She grabbed a lacy white bra, clasping it around her chest and putting the straps over her shoulder. After adjusting herself, she looked in the mirror and began to fix up her hair, brushing it out and pulling it over to one side. It still seemed to look natural for her despite that.
In the mirror, her skin was a light chocolate color. Her jet black hair landing to her waist, yet at the tips of it had a blonde color to them. Her body was slender and fit, and face beautiful with her features seemingly elegant in a way. Soon, she pulled herself away from the mirror and went to the closet to finish getting ready. The girl wore a black tank top with a logo on it, a skull with a white rose spilling from its mouth. Once she was finally ready, she grabbed her school bag and her phone before heading out to the kitchen. "5:30, the bus should be here in like 10 minutes," She spoke to herself in the unoccupied room, before grabbing the money her mother left for her on the table and leaving.

School felt slow at the start of the day as it always did to her. She wasn't the most popular among this place, but she did have a few friends. "Hey Uma!" A male voice shouted over to her. She then turned around to see her best friend Nathan. He was a tall 6'2, while she was just an average 5'7. He had a rather brown and messy haircut. His skin being a frigid pale with large curvy horns atop his head and a lanky tail that had a devil's point at its end. He wore a black shirt that had a motorcycle with an enflamed Ghost Rider riding it with bold text that read, "BORN TO BE ON FIRE!" His lower half had on black torn jeans with a chain hanging off of leather belt loops. "Well don't you look like you just rolled out of bed like 3 minutes ago," Uma beamed at him with a cheeky smirk filling her expression. She didn't have any large extraordinary features like he, but her eyes would stick out like a sore thumb to those who gazed upon them. There was an energy that seemed to surge behind those beautiful cyan blues, a power that was mysterious to everyone around her. "Yeah yeah...did you hear Simon was marked Hostile?" Nathan chimed back to her smug expression. Uma shook her head, knowing that the reason she was even allowed to go to this school was because she was marked Safe. As was Nathan due to only being able to control the wind. "No, I didn't realize. They keep Hostiles in separate districts, and they've killed all the Destructives." Uma would respond.
She didn't have any powers to her knowledge. She looked and acted just like human, so when she was scanned, it was assumed she was Safe. She wasn't picked on by her peers and had usually avoided getting into fights with anyone. Especially since Nathan and Carlos were already well skilled with their abilities. This school had a Hierarchy to it. The 'Safes' or 'Greens' are the only ones that actually get to live 'normal' lives, but this was just for highschool. 'Reds' or 'Hostiles' are people who were labeled as a danger to themselves aswell as the people around them, which are assigned to a separate school and district. 'Black Color' or 'Destructives' are killed on the spot once they're scanned. This is done because it's believed that they are too dangerous to keep alive and are potentially able to be catastrophic with their abilities.
Uma and Nathan hurried to class, getting there just 15 minutes before the bell rang to indicate tardy students. Uma sat in the very back of the class, next to Nathan. The other students soon filed in and sat down in their seats. Carlos, sneaking in soon after them and just before the teacher, who was a Centaur, had caught him. Carlos was 6'0 tall with red curly hair, a long shark tail, fins on his elbows, and gills on his neck. He also possessed sharp teeth and the ability to talk to sea creatures. The only reason he was a Green and not a Red, was due to not really being a threat to people not in the water, since his power involves him actually having to be in water with creatures. Most Greens would usually just be elementals, but you have some of the occasional animal talkers, flight, invisibility, etc.
"What took you so long shark boy." Nathan chuckled at Carlos, as a grin played at both Nathan's and Carlos's lips. "That's like asking why you don't have wings to take yourself places, rather then pestering me for a ride demon." Carlos had teased in response, taking a seat on the other side of Uma. "Ok knuckleheads, enough, I don't need to be caring for another broken nose." Uma playfully said to the both them getting at each other with her own grin.
With everyone now in their places, class was ready to begin.
